Assault Weapons Not Protected by Second Amendment, Federal Appeals Court Rules

Via Wirecutter

Maryland's ban on 45 kinds of assault weapons and its 10-round limit on gun magazines were upheld Tuesday by a federal appeals court in a decision that met with a strongly worded dissent.

In a 10-4 ruling, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, said the guns banned under Maryland's law aren't protected by the Second Amendment.

The Arkansas Traveler

It was Tuesday evening, September 16th, and people all across America were settling down for the first performance of a new CBS comedy and music program.  Rather than watching the show on fifty-inch TV screens with names like Sony, Samsung and Panasonic, since the year was 1941, they would be gathered in front of AM radio sets bearing such then familiar names as Philco, Emerson and RCA.

In Little Rock, Arkansas, they would be tuned to their local CBS affiliate, KLRA , the “Voice of the Wonder State,” to hear the new program called “The Arkansas Traveler” starring one of that State’s favorite personalities, Bob Burns.  The show was a combination of a humorous, homespun Southern  monologue by Burns and a situation comedy filled with an array of Burn’s fictitious relatives and neighbors from his home town of Van Buren, as well as novelty music provided by Spike Jones and His City Slickers and popular songs by the big-name band vocalist from Texas, Ginnie Simms.

NYC Could Come Down Like A House Of Cards If A Long Overdue 5.0 Earthquake Struck Along The 125th Street Fault Line

We can only hope......:)

New York City could be hit with a $39 billion in damage with 30 million tons of debris clogging the streets if a long-overdue earthquake hit.

The city of 8.5 million people is not thought of as a tremor hot spot, but the five boroughs are riddled with fault lines that could bring dozens of buildings down.

Because the city is so dense and littered with thousands of tall buildings, even a 5.0 magnitude earthquake nearby would cause such damage, experts fear.

A Story About Legal Immigration

 A Story About Legal Immigration

I am responsible for about 100 Vietnamese coming to our land legally. One example is a brother of my wife whose five children became four medical doctors with the fifth still in medical school.

By a Marine Corps Veteran, Retired Correctional Lieutenant, and Oath Keeper

We are a nation of laws, a Constitutional Republic! As such we already have immigration laws. I know this because of my beautiful wife. She and her family came here legally from the Philippines.

In 1966 after graduating from nursing school in the Philippines, my wife’s oldest sister and two other young women were sponsored by a hospital to come here as nurses. They did and found a small apartment within walking distance of their work. They did not buy cars or fancy clothes but all worked hard and took all the overtime that was available, for the sole purpose of sending money home to better their respective families.

In the case of my wife’s family the decision was made that the ten remaining siblings would all go to college for the chance to come to America, the land of milk and honey. The other two nurses were doing the exact same thing. It would be ten years before the first family members would come and one was my wife.

What is behind Chick-Fil-A's enormous success?

Via Billy

Is it the chicken? The customer service? Or something else?

Open only six days per week, Chick-Fil-A’s per store sales are outpacing the second best performing quick service restaurant chain by nearly 63%. The earnings per store are averaging $4.4 million.

McDonald’s, ranking fifth in per store average sales, only collects $2.5 million per store, and they are open more than 52 additional days per year. Chick-Fil-A has significantly fewer stores than McDonald’s, ranking it eighth in overall sales, but it is on pace to move up to third place by 2020.

Piers Morgan Insults Every World War II Vet. Americans Heatedly Respond.

On Tuesday afternoon, ILKAPM, aka the Intellectual Lilliputian Known As Piers Morgan, who was tweaked about a Ben Shapiro tweet mocking him that went viral, responded with a tweet that insulted every American World War II veteran, and triggered genuine anger among the red-blooded Americans that saw his nastiness.

Morgan’s rancid comment was prompted by this exchange, which started after Morgan ripped the Second Amendment:
Have you studied the history of 2A? Try reading up on it. It was never intended to mean an individual’s right to bear arms - outside of a ‘well regulated militia’. https://twitter.com/kylekashuv/status/980932958784774144
We're not interested in a redcoat telling us what to do with our country, anyway. Last I checked in my history book is we kicked you guys out and then saved your asses at least twice with our GUNS

Tariffs ensure aluminum and steel jobs are here to stay

China’s announcement Wednesday that it plans to slap tariffs on $50 billion worth of U.S. products is a clear threat to President Trump after his announcement last month to impose tariffs on imports of aluminum and steel from other nations and his announcement Tuesday that he plans to impose tariffs on $50 billion in imports from China.

Already, many policymakers, Wall Street analysts and pundits have quickly jumped to doomsday scenarios over trade wars. And dozens of countries are also lobbying the president for exemptions from the steel and aluminum tariffs.

While I have major policy differences with President Trump and his administration, it is essential that he stay the course and not cower to China’s bullying. Our political leaders should not take this tremendous victory away from tens of thousands of America’s aluminum and steelworkers by reversing or watering down the president’s decision.

The Die Is Cast: Mexican Senate Threatens to Stop Helping U.S. Against Drug Cartels If Trump Deploys Troops to Border

Evidently brain-dead.

 Breitbart

The Mexican Senate passed a resolution seeking an end to bilateral cooperation with the U.S. against drug cartels and immigration problems after President Trump ordered National Guard troops to the border.

The resolution was passed in a unanimous fashion and sent to the White House, Members of the U.S. Congress, and Mexico’s Foreign Relations Officer, El Universal reported.

“Despite everything that is at stake in the relationship between our two countries, the way in which President Donald Trump has behaved is, for the Mexican people, unacceptable and intolerable,” El Universal quoted from the document.

The resolution demands that President Trump respect the people of Mexico, and notes the Senate “condemns the unfounded and offensive expressions about Mexico and Mexicans and the treatment that is needed for a relationship between neighboring countries, partners, and allies.”

Other portions of the resolution reject efforts to “militarize the border with Mexico” and considered the measure offensive. In the third portion of the resolution, the Senate calls for Mexico to stop any binational cooperation with the U.S. in dealing with immigration matters and fighting transnational organized crime (cartels) until Trump “acts with civility and respect.”

The Red Terror: The tragic consequences of Leftist ideology

The Red Terror: The tragic consequences of Leftist ideology

On April 13, 1975, on the eve of the fall of Cambodia and 17 days from the fall of South Vietnam on April 30, New York Times columnist Sydney Schanberg posted an article headlined “Indochina Without Americans: For Most a Better Life.”

The author’s point—typical of liberal journalists during the Vietnam conflict and since—was that because of the possibility of civilian casualties from American bombing, most Cambodians would be better off under Communism.

But although there were occasionally some collateral casualties connected to American bombing in Cambodia, American bombers were bombing Khmer Rouge forces trying to overthrow the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh, not Cambodian villages. In fact, U.S. policy emphatically stressed that the risk of collateral civilian casualties should be minimized. My own combat experiences in Southeast Asia confirmed that this policy was often stated and strictly enforced.

Alan Dershowitz: Rosenstein Should End Mueller Probe

Via Billy

On Wednesday evening, distinguished Harvard Law School emeritus professor Mr. Alan Dershowitz released a blistering statement calling for Harvard Law alum and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosentein to end the Mueller probe. Mr. Dershowitz's consistent, principled stand against what the DOJ has been doing since the firing of former FBI Director James Comey last summer has further enshrined him as one of the few Harvard people whom I like. Dershowtiz already had my respect though because he was one of the only Harvard folks to back the Pelletier family in 2014 when this happened:

The Pentagon said Thursday it is establishing a new “border security support cell” that will be manned 24 hours a day after President Trump ordered the military to help secure the southern border.

Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said Trump authorized the National Guard to “enhance its support” for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection along the border.

“This is not business as usual,” White said.

Target Spins Bathroom Incident Involving Man Who Exposed himself to a Small Child

What harm can possibly come of making public restrooms gender-neutral provided there are individual stalls wherein people of all(!) genders can answer nature’s call? That’s the seemingly rhetorical question that liberals will always ask when challenged with the sheer lunacy of designating all bathrooms “gender-neutral.”

Here’s the harm: A man burst into the women’s restroom at a Chicago branch of Target last Sunday, entered a stall occupied by a young child, and exposed himself, according to CBS Chicago.
