Devin Nunes rips DOJ, FBI for failing to turn over subpoenaed documents and witnesses

Via Billy

In a scathing letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., wrote

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes on Thursday slammed the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their "failure to fully produce" documents related to the Trump dossier, saying that DOJ and the FBI should investigate themselves.

“Unfortunately, DOJ/FBI's intransigence with respect to the Aug. 24 subpoenas is part of a broader pattern of behavior that can no longer be tolerated,” Nunes wrote in a scathing letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in which he complained about information and witnesses subpoenaed by his committee earlier in 2017.

“As a result of the numerous delays and discrepancies that have hampered the process of subpoena compliance, the committee no longer credits the representations made by DOJ and/or the FBI regarding these matters,” Nunes added in the letter obtained by Fox News.

Find the Alabama: Fascinating Diplomatic and Naval History: Part 5 of 5

It was largely due to Captain James D. Bulloch’s adroit diplomatic relationship with the British government and shipbuilding industry that the Confederate Navy was able to put to sea three of the most successful commerce raiders in naval history. He was also instrumental in acquiring what became the Confederate commerce raider Georgia in Scotland. Bulloch’s four British-built commerce raiders are credited with capturing or sinking 170 U.S. merchant ships and helped to substantially reduce the effectiveness of the Union blockade of Southern ports. These and four other Confederate commerce raiders captured or destroyed a total of 236 Union ships. In addition, they caused American shippers to sell as many as 1,800 merchant ships to British and other foreign owners in order to avoid the risk of capture by Confederate cruisers. By the end of the war, only eight Confederate commerce raiders had caused more than half of the U.S. merchant fleet to disappear.

Seldom in history have so few ships and men had such an enormous impact for the cause of their country.

Aflac Incorporated announced Thursday it would be increasing its retirement contributions to employees and making additional investments in the United States due to the tax bill passed by the GOP-led Congress last week.

The insurance company said beginning next year, it will increase its 401(k) match from 50 percent to 100 percent on the first 4 percent of employee contributions and will also contribute $500 to each employee’s 401(k) plan.

Aflac also pledged to boost its investment in the U.S. by $250 million over the next three to five years by growing its U.S. operation and expanding benefits and training programs for workers.

“We are pleased that these tax reforms provide Aflac with an opportunity to increase our investments in initiatives that reflect our company values; providing for our employees in the long and short term, ensuring growth for our company and giving back to the community,” Aflac CEO Dan Amos said.
Aflac joins a host of companies who announced additional benefits to employees after Republicans passed its bill reforming the tax system last week.

Dystopian Vietnam Launches 10,000-Strong Cyber-Unit To Combat "Wrong Views"

Via Jonathan

Reuters has revealed a rather disturbing Orwellian tale of Communist-ruled Vietnam marching towards a complete censorship of the internet.

Government officials have announced a new, 10,000-strong military cyber warfare unit used to combat 'fake news', amid a much larger crackdown on critics of the state.

The announcement came in a speech on Christmas Day given by Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, a deputy head of the military’s political department. According to state-run media, Lt Gen Nguyen revealed the 10,000-strong army of state-owned hackers called “Force 47″, will be targeting enemies of the Communist party who “create chaos” online.

Lt Gen Nguyen further said, “in every hour, minute, and second, we must be ready to fight proactively against the wrong views.”

Navy's captured flags, hidden nearly 100 years, rediscovered

Via Billy

The curator of the U.S. Naval Academy Museum wasn't exactly sure what would be found: records indicated five display boxes long used to exhibit captured British flags from the War of 1812 actually concealed more banners underneath.

But not until all 61 banners were painstakingly removed in December for a conservation effort did curator Charles Swift, who is also the museum's managing director, actually see what was hidden. And he was gratified to learn that conservationists had uncovered dozens of other flags — many captured by the Navy in other conflicts of the 19th century.

The 46 newly discovered flags — including banners from battles in Asia and from the Spanish-American War — had originally been put on display in 1913. But seven years later, they were covered up by the 15 flags from the War of 1812 — and sealed up for nearly a century.

HAPPY KWANZAA! THE HOLIDAY BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE FBI

Kwanzaa, celebrated exclusively by white liberals, is a fake holiday invented in 1966 by black radical/FBI stooge Ron Karenga -- aka Dr. Maulana Karenga, founder of United Slaves, the violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers. Liberals have become so mesmerized by multicultural gibberish that they have forgotten the real history of Kwanzaa and Karenga's United Slaves.

In what was ultimately a foolish gambit, during the madness of the '60s, the FBI encouraged the most extreme black nationalist organizations in order to discredit and split the left. The more preposterous the group, the better. (It's the same function MSNBC and CNN serve today.)

By that criterion, Karenga's United Slaves was perfect.
