Civilian researchers claim they have uncovered the wreckage of the USS Indianapolis, a World War II cruiser.

A Japanese submarine torpedoed the USS Indianapolis early in the morning of July 30, 1945, according to the Navy. Approximately 800 of the 1,196 sailors and Marines survived the ship's initial sinking. But the Navy said only 316 people survived the dehydration, drowning, and shark attacks that ensued over the subsequent four to five days they spent stuck in the water.

Andrew Young: Fights over Confederate symbolism are ‘a mistake’

“I think it’s too costly to refight the Civil War. We have paid too great a price in trying to bring people together…
“I personally feel that we made a mistake in fighting over the Confederate flag here in Georgia. Or that that was an answer to the problem of the death of nine people – to take down the Confederate flag in South Carolina.”

Fellow civil rights veterans Andrew Young and C.T. Vivian were at Paschal’s on Wednesday morning to endorse Ceasar Mitchell, the Atlanta City Council president, in this fall’s race for mayor.

Before we move away from that topic, let us note that Young, the former Atlanta mayor and United Nations ambassador, said he wanted to endorse Mitchell eight years ago – but his Howard University ties to Kasim Reed trumped that impulse.

The topic of Charlottesville quickly reared its head. A New York Times writer cited laws in some states, including this one, that prevent local communities from bringing down Confederate monuments. He asked Young and Vivian if they would endorse acts of civil disobedience that targeted the statues.

The reporter probably didn’t get the answer he expected from Young. Which, while he didn’t mention her by name, also might have been directed at state Rep. Stacey Abrams, the Democratic candidate for governor who on Tuesday called for the massive carving of Confederate leaders to be scrubbed from Stone Mountain.

Said Young:

Confederate leaders are betrayed by their descendants

Unbelievable.  They should disavow relationship to their ancestors.

The year is 2017, and as the president of the United States vehemently defends monuments to the Confederacy, some descendants of Confederate leaders are calling for them to be taken down.

On Saturday, an attacker drove a car into a crowd of counterprotesters at a rally of white nationalists and neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Virginia, renewing a long-standing conflict over whether Confederate monuments — like the statue of Robert E. Lee whose preservation in Charlottesville’s Emancipation Park became a rallying point for white nationalists — belong in public spaces.

President Donald Trump, after several days of angry remarks, tweeted on Thursday that he was “sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart.”

But the great-great-grandchildren of Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee, three of the Confederacy’s top military and political leaders, feel differently.

TRUMP Condemns Alt-Left Anti-Police Protesters in Boston

Via Billy

Notice the nails in the ends of Antifa sticks? That's called a weapon. They use them to stab police horses.
A/B testing. Trump found out no one in GOP, DNC, or media cares about violence against his voters but if you're anti-police, it's over. https://twitter.com/rolypolyistaken/status/898997657460293632

Thousands of alt-left Antifa terrorists marches in Boston today against a Free Speech rally.

Dozens of alt-Left protesters attacked the Boston police.

The alt-left came out in force to protest a free speech rally in Boston Commons.

Antifa brought sticks with nails on the ends.

CNN calls this “peace through strength.”

Boston Antifa Rips Democrats For “Cheering Them On” – Brag About “Media Support”

Via Billy

Boston Antifa is laughing at the thousands of Democrats who marched in support of their so- called cause during the Boston Free Speech Rally. The Alt-Left group ripped Democrats on Twitter for knowing nothing about “anarcho-communism.”

For over a year at nearly every event NOT sponsored by Leftist Democrat and Black Lives Matter groups, the Police have stepped aside and allowed horrendous acts of criminal violence against event participants while rarely arresting anyone committing these heinous acts.

These violent groups, like Fascist Antifa, are now inciting murder at these events.   Who is allowing this to happen?  Will the FBI please investigate these groups and determine who is ordering the police to allow them to commit violence?

Formally recognize AntiFa as a terrorist organization

Via Billy

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/dva9OSdIMhU/hqdefault.jpg

Terrorism is defined as “the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims”. This definition is the same definition used to declare ISIS and other groups, as terrorist organizations.

AntiFa has earned this title due to its violent actions in multiple cities and their influence in the killings of multiple police officers throughout the United States. It is time for the pentagon to be consistent in its actions – and just as they rightfully declared ISIS a terror group, they must declare AntiFa a terror group – on the grounds of principle, integrity, morality, and safety.

Antifa Declares: ‘F**k Your F***ing Constitution, We’re Here to Punch Nazis’

An unmasked Antifa member was caught on video in Seattle, Washington, going off on a group of leftists because they refused to engage in violence.

According to Blue Lives Matter, a right-wing group known as Patriot Prayer rallied in Seattle which attracted large groups of counter-protesters. And with large leftist gatherings of the sort, Antifa showed up carrying sticks and shields. But when they couldn’t get their numbers up to overwhelm the police and set about destroying the city, they were left to scream their little hearts out like the woman in the above video.

“I didn’t create a debate, because that’s not why we’re here,” the black-clad member said with an uncovered face. “I’m from Charlottesville, Virginia. I walk the street that mowed down that woman every single day for thirteen years. I’ve worked in Charlottesville, I had all my friends in Charlottesville, I booked shows in Charlottesville, I know the woman who was hit and killed by Nazis.”

She went on to lecture her fellow progressives that non-violent protests aren’t going to cut it.

Bannon: 'The Trump Presidency That We Fought For, and Won, Is Over.'

“I feel jacked up,” he says. “Now I’m free. I’ve got my hands back on my weapons. Someone said, Bannon the Barbarian.’ I am definitely going to crush the opposition. There’s no doubt.
With the departure from the White House of strategist Stephen K. Bannon, who helped shape the so-called nationalist-populist program embraced by Donald Trump in his unlikely path to election, a new phase of the Trump presidency begins. Given Trump’s nature, what comes next will hardly be conventional, but it may well be less willfully disruptive—which, to Bannon, had been the point of winning the White House.

“The Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over,” Bannon said Friday, shortly after confirming his departure. “We still have a huge movement, and we will make something of this Trump presidency. But that presidency is over. It’ll be something else. And there’ll be all kinds of fights, and there’ll be good days and bad days, but that presidency is over.”

NC: Duke University Removes Robert E. Lee Statue After It Was Vandalized by Associated Press

Duke University removed a statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee early Saturday, days after it was vandalized amid a national debate about monuments to the Confederacy.

The university said it removed the carved limestone likeness early Saturday from Duke Chapel where it stood among 10 historical figures depicted in the entryway. Another statue of Lee was at the heart of a violent protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, that turned deadly a week ago.

America’s Second Civil War

“They had found a leader, Robert E. Lee — and what a leader! … No military leader since Napoleon has aroused such enthusiastic devotion among troops as did Lee when he reviewed them on his horse Traveller.”

So wrote Samuel Eliot Morison in his magisterial “The Oxford History of the American People” in 1965.

First in his class at West Point, hero of the Mexican War, Lee was the man to whom President Lincoln turned to lead his army. But when Virginia seceded, Lee would not lift up his sword against his own people, and chose to defend his home state rather than wage war upon her.

This veneration of Lee, wrote Richard Weaver, “appears in the saying attributed to a Confederate soldier, ‘The rest of us may have … descended from monkeys, but it took a God to make Marse Robert.'”

Growing up after World War II, this was accepted history.

Viral photo shows peace in Lynchburg

Via Billy

This photo was captured at the end of the day at the Jubal Early monument at Fort Early.

Tensions throughout our country are high right now, after a rally turned deadly in Charlottesville last weekend.

And after last weekend, a post made the rounds on social media claiming that the hacker group, "Anonymous" put out a hit on 11 cities threatening to take down Confederate monuments, and Lynchburg was named in that list.

Friday night, rumor started to spread of 'gatherings' going on around in Lynchburg and messages indicated the people gathering were members of a 'hate group.'

But, in actuality, that wasn't the case.
