Virginia’s Lost Counties

You can stand on the station platform at Harpers Ferry and see three States, two battlefields, two rivers and a panorama of natural scenery which the Kiwanis Club calls “the Little Switzerland of America” and which Thomas Jefferson said was “one of the most stupendous scenes in nature…worth a voyage across the Atlantic.”

Where the chasm yawns beneath and Shenandoah flows into Potomac, you behold the gigantic tumult of nature’s mighty forces meeting her immovable objects. Where the valley flattens out beyond, you look upon a tranquility of meadow and stream which the Indians named Sherundo—”clear-eyed daughter of the stars.”

The sermon in stone that Mr. Jefferson read “of a war between rivers and mountains that must have shaken the earth itself to its core” is yet legible. With the third President’s imagination you can picture, as did he, an inland ocean hurling its breakers against the peaks of the Blue Ridge until at last that mammoth bulwark was rent from summit to base, its fragments scattered as huge boulders the length and breadth of the valley, the waters themselves tumbling toward the Atlantic.

Total continuing claims for unemployment benefits ran at the lowest level in 28 years at the beginning of May, the Department of Labor reported Thursday morning in a new sign that the jobs market is still improving.

The total number of unemployed workers receiving benefits fell to 1.9 million, the agency said, the lowest such mark since November of 1988, when the workforce was much smaller.

Over the past month, the average number of continuing claims per week has clocked in at 1.95 million, the lowest number in 43 years.

“The Lee monument was erected (in 1884) without the use of taxpayer money. The same cannot be said for its removal using city resources, city employees, and a shroud of secrecy that's more fitting to ISIS tactics than those of the United States of America,” the statement said. “With the removal of four of our century-plus aged landmarks, at 299 years old, New Orleans now heads in to our tricentennial more divided and less historic.”

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is crediting changes in tactics ordered by President Trump for increasing the pressure on the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, and leaving the beleaguered fighters with no avenue of escape.

"He directed a tactical shift from shoving ISIS out of safe locations in an attrition fight to surrounding the enemy in their strongholds so we can annihilate ISIS," Mattis said Friday during a Pentagon briefing on the counter-ISIS campaign.

Mattis said that by making sure foreign fighters can't get away, or return to their home countries, "We don't simply transplant this problem from one place to another."

Vietnam War hero's dream Corvette to be auctioned off at Mecum Indy 2017

"That crash left my father as the only surviving soldier in his unit."

When Keith Richard Litavsky returned home from fighting on the front line in the Vietnam War, he did so with two Purple Hearts and one more mission to accomplish.

That mission took him to an Illinois car dealership where he purchased the car he had been dreaming about while serving overseas: a marina blue 1967 Chevrolet Corvette.

Paid for with money he'd sent home from the war for that very purpose,  Litavsky took meticulous care of the car.

He kept diaries of its use where he logged each time he started it and the RPMs he hit. He never drove it in the rain. He refused to park it in the sun. He even instructed his five children not to talk to anyone about the car out of fear it would be stolen.

TRUMP ECONOMY IS BOOMING! But Liberal Media Won't Report It

Trump says border wall will stop drug cartels that have ‘literally taken over towns and cities’

Via Billy

"The drug epidemic is poisoning too many American lives, and we're going to stop it in many different ways. One of them will be the wall," President. Trump said. (Associated Press)

President Trump doubled down Thursday on his demand for a border wall, warning of the growing threat of drug cartels and criminal gangs he said have “literally taken over towns and cities of the United States.”

Emerging from a meeting with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, whose country has struggled for years with cartel-fueled violence, Mr. Trump said drug crime has become a “dangerous threat to our societies.” He called for international cooperation in pursuing smugglers and for infrastructure to keep them out of the U.S. in the first place.

“The drug epidemic is poisoning too many American lives, and we’re going to stop it in many different ways. One of them will be the wall,” Mr. Trump said.

Even though illegal immigration across the U.S.-Mexico border appears to be down dramatically under Mr. Trump, the flow of drugs remains high — with heroin and other serious narcotics surging.

The changes suggest that Mr. Trump’s get-tough approach inside the U.S. has deterred would-be migrants but that cartels continue their smuggling operations freely.

More Than 7 Million Voter Registrations Are Duplicated in Multiple States: NC 2nd Highest

Via Bill

More than 7 million voter registrations appear to be registered in two states simultaneously, according to data obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The new voter data was gathered from the Kansas-run interstate voter registration crosscheck program, which is used to identify "possible duplicate registrations among states."

The program began in December 2005 and conducted its first crosscheck in 2006. It is administered by the office of Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who was tapped recently to help lead President Trump's voter fraud commission.

The newest data is from crosschecks of voter registrations across 28 states that participate in the program. At least 7.2 million registrations appeared in two states at once, according to the data.
Georgia (660,708), North Carolina (561,811), and Illinois (542,065) lead the 28 states studied in potential duplicated voter registrations across state lines.

Trump campaign reports fundraising surge, says Americans still stand with president

President Trump’s campaign announced Thursday a record-breaking fundraising haul this week, saying it shows the American people stand with the president despite unrelenting attacks from the news media and political foes.

The campaign website, DonaldJTrump.com, and the joint fundraising operation with the Republican National Committee took in more than $314,000 in contribution Wednesday, which is a one-day record for fundraising since the election, said the campaign.

“The American people are with the president stronger than ever before,” said Michael Glassner, executive director of Donald J. Trump for President Inc., which recently announced Mr. Trump’s re-election effort.

The money came in the same day the Justice Department named a special counsel to probe accusations that Trump campaign officials had links to Russian spies that interfered in the U.S. presidential election.

It was also the same day some Democratic lawmakers called for impeachment of the president.

Racism: The Last Refuge of Us All?

Racism: The Last Refuge of Us All?

Via John "If lefties aren't screaming, whining, sobbing, name-calling, attacking, accusing. bloviating, lying, and/or just being miserable - and wanting you to be as miserable as they are........then they're not happy.  This is especially true when it comes to 'race,' where the left keeps wishing it was still the 1950's, but sadly for them, history has moved on. These days, the only race under attack simply for the color of their skin.....is the white race. Below, my buddy Mike B and the article he forwards, elucidate this seeming paradox to a fare-thee-well. Just remember this simple truth:  The left is fake. It is a political fraud. They are the intolerant masquerading as the tolerant.  They are every negative stereotype they claim others to be and you can never believe or trust in anything they say or do. Once you recognize this, it becomes eminently clear,  and all the leftist fake news "media" propaganda you hear will never again affect your critical thinking processes." ~ J

"Interesting article on things the left considers racist... like bicycle lanes, dog walking, safe driving, kindness to animals, being a foodie, healthy eating, taking vitamins, jogging, milk, vegetarianism, the food pyramid & nutritional guidelines, herbal tea, solar power, hiking in the woods... to the misguided left... all racist.  As an example, take this last one... hiking in the woods: The wilderness itself is racist, because “escaped slaves” used to be confronted with “forests full of danger.” For people of color, “the wilderness, historically, is dangerous territory,” claims a wilderness racism “expert” in the L.A. Times.   Or this:  A piece in the liberal leaning Pittsburgh Post-Gazette outright stated it: Cyclists are white, so spending city money to create bike lanes to keep them safe is racist.  IMHO, this is why many people like me voted for Trump... we're just plain sick and tired of the never ending crap like this from brainless, (real) racist liberals."   Mike B.

We’ve all heard Samuel Johnson’s famous adage about patriotism being the last refuge of a scoundrel, but I’ve always believed it’s racism that’s the last refuge of a scoundrel. Race is what you cling to when you have no meaningful achievements of your own to display. It’s a safe space for the unaccomplished. That’s why there’s been such an explosion of racism on the left, especially among some of its less successful demographic groups. When you have nothing to offer, or when you just don’t want to make the effort to be successful or productive, well…at least you have your skin. And the left has proved to be expert at making everything about skin. With so many layabouts, welfare cases, entitlement whores, and blame shifters among the masses, leftist intellectuals in politics, the media, and academia gain lots of traction by continually reassuring certain constituencies, “Hey, man, your skin color makes you special! Your skin color makes you deserving!”

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein firmly stood by the memo he wrote that outlined James Comey’s offenses – and later was cited by the White House to support President Trump’s decision to fire the FBI director – during briefings with Capitol Hill lawmakers, according to remarks obtained by Fox News.

“I wrote it. I believe it. I stand by it,” he said, according to the opening statement provided by senior Justice Department officials. He maintained that Comey’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe was “wrong and unfair.”

BUSTED: Trump-Comey NYT Journo @NYTMike Admits He Never Saw Memo!

New York Times Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim’s blogger Michael Schmidt told professional liar Brian Williams that he hadn’t seen the memos that James Comey allegedly wrote. “Someone that had seen them recounted details to me,” Schmidt said in what is a breach of journalistic protocol.

Schmidt has been called out for getting a story wildly wrong before thanks to his anonymous sources. Schmidt, citing his anonymous federal law enforcement sources, claimed that one of the San Bernardino terrorists had talked about jihad openly. She didn’t.

His boss even reprimanded him and called for “systematic changes” to the way Schmidt and Carlos Slim’s blog use anonymous sources.

“As president, Trump has broad authority to declassify government secrets, making it unlikely that his disclosures broke the law.” —Washington Post, May 16, 2017

The above sentence didn’t appear in the Washington Post’s lead story, “Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian diplomats,” until paragraph seven. That’s because the piece is solely about the idea that Trump is careless with classified information, since he “went off script and began describing details of an Islamic State terrorist threat related to the use of laptop computers on aircraft” in a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
The meeting was held last week. A Wall Street Journal story reveals that the Department of Homeland Security, citing “evaluated intelligence,” instituted a cabin ban on laptops and other electronic devices larger than a cellphone for flights originating from 10 airports in Middle East and African nations.

Harvard Study Reveals Huge Extent of Anti-Trump Media Bias

Via Billy

A major new study out of Harvard University has revealed the true extent of the mainstream media’s bias against Donald Trump.

Academics at the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy analyzed coverage from Trump’s first 100 days in office across 10 major TV and print outlets.

They found that the tone of some outlets was negative in as many as 98% of reports, significantly more hostile than the first 100 days of the three previous administrations:

North Carolina’s largest ever crackdown on street gangs led to arrests in Charlotte and four states Thursday, with dozens of alleged members of United Blood Nation charged with a vast conspiracy of murders, assaults and other violent crimes.

In all, 83 people, all believed to be part of a UBN wing known as “Nine Trey Gangsters” wing, were named in the federal indictments, including nearly 30 who were already jailed for other crimes. Ten suspects remained on the run Thursday afternoon. Five were being hunted in Charlotte. One was as far away as Miami, the FBI said.

In an update released Friday morning, the FBI said it had located two of the missing.

Veteran journalist Bob Woodward called on the national media Friday to keep focused on reporting straight news, after many reporters have revealed a bias against President Trump.

Friday on MSNBC, Woodward said he knows of too many reporters who have strayed from objectivity and shown an excessive hostility toward the White House.

"Stick to the reporting," he said. "Stick to the reporting. … One of the realities we have here is we have a good, old newspaper war going, the New York Times and the Washington Post and some very powerful stories. At the same time, I think it's time to dial back a little bit about because there are people around ... who are kind of binge drinking the anti-Trump Kool-Aid. And that is not going to work in journalism. Let the politicians have that binge drinking."

Dismantle the FBI, and Give its Money Back to the States

With James Comey's firing, we're told the FBI is in turmoil, and Washington DC cocktail parties are all atwitter over the excitement of the scandal. But don't worry about the FBI. If history has proved anything, the Bureau, no matter how much chaos it may endure, can always rely on a fat check from Congress — funded by the American taxpayers.

But why does the US need a huge national police force at all? Can't state police forces do just as well? The FBI continues to assert never-proven claims that bigger governments are better at law enforcement than smaller onces. This myth is not only untrue, but very expensive for taxpayers.

Julian Assange rape charges dropped by Swedish authorities

Via Billy

Sweden's top prosecutor said Friday she would drop the investigation into a rape claim against Julian Assange after almost seven years -- but the controversial WikiLeaks founder isn't a free man just yet.

Assange, 45, took refuge in Ecuador's Embassy in London in 2012 to escape extradition to Sweden to answer questions about sex-crime accusations from two women. He has been there ever since, claiming officials could ultimately extradite him to the United States.

Friday's announcement meant Assange no longer was under any investigation in Sweden. However, British police said Assange was still wanted in the U.K. for jumping bail in 2012 -- so he could still face arrest if he leaves the Ecuadorean Embassy.

Ha! :) Oops: The New York Times Accidentally Exposed 'The Hillary Clinton-Russia Nexus'!

Below is the incredible New York Times editorial* published on Thursday that lays out the case for how the Hillary Clinton campaign was colluding with the Russian government, and then tried to cover it up by blaming her election loss on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Hillary Clinton-Russia Nexus

The acting director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, told Congress on Thursday that President Trump's firing of James Comey has not derailed the agency's investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Hillary Clinton campaign. Which is good news. Despite Mrs. Clinton's assertion that the idea of collusion is "a total hoax," and despite many unknowns, the links continue to pile up. Here is a partial accounting of the connections we do know something about.

THE CLINTON FAMILY BUSINESS There may be no Clinton Foundation office in Moscow or St. Petersburg, but it is not for lack of trying. Bill Clinton received half a million dollars in 2010 for a speech he gave in Moscow, paid by a Russian firm, Renaissance Capital, that has ties to Russian intelligence.
