CNN ballistic over Rep. Steve King’s tweet about demography being destiny

Via Nancy

Holland’s future or not? If left unchecked, the Turks and the Moroccans will outbreed the Dutch. It is a fact.

I’ve mentioned before that I watch CNN every morning while my coffee is perking. I recommend it to all of you because one is instantly oriented to what the political Left is going to harp on for the day.
This morning they were aghast at the remark Rep. Steve King tweeted in relationship to tomorrow’s election in Holland where Geert Wilders has a shot at winning.

(By the way, I also recommend tweeting to all of you. If you follow the right sites and people, it is the fastest way to get breaking news—even better than Drudge. You don’t have to tweet yourselves, just get an account and follow certain people. Then, throughout the day, check in to see what is breaking around the world! I tweet a lot of news out that I never have time to write about.)

Here is what got Rep. Steve King in hot water with the Lefties at CNN.

Isn’t this the absolute truth! The Dutch election tomorrow is about saving Holland and Western Civilization!

The Bonus Bill Veto and the Southern Tradition

On March 3, 1817, President James Madison vetoed the Bonus Bill of 1817 – a plan that called for the federal construction of various roads, bridges, and canals throughout the country. In a letter to Congress, the president explained his rationale. Out of all historical writings on constitutional interpretation, I believe it stands today as one of the most important.

Madison’s reasoning was simple – although he personally favored the idea of infrastructure construction, writing that he was “not unaware of the great importance” of such things, he denied the policy’s constitutionality on a federal level. Instead of upholding his own personal proclivities and allowing the Constitution to be undermined, he maintained that the Constitution was one of specific enumerated powers, and the document contained no expressed power for the federal government to do such a thing. “The legislative powers vested in Congress are specified and enumerated in the eighth section of the first article of the Constitution,” he said, “and it does not appear that the power proposed to be exercised by the bill is among the enumerated powers.”

Films from the South

Like it or not, movies are the main art form of our time, the story-telling medium that reaches the largest audience and captures the attention of us all, high and low, wise and foolish. It is also true that movies, like literature and architecture, reflect something of the soul of the particular nation that produces them. If so, we indeed need to be concerned about the American soul.

Until the late 60s, our cinema—whether contemporary or costume drama, comedy, Western, or war—reflected a general baseline of Middle American values. It was not usually great art but it was consoling entertainment and a source and reflection of a national consensus. And it portrayed with sympathy the real “diversity” of this far-flung Union—New England, the Big Apple, the Old South, the Midwest, and the West

The catastrophe known as The Sixties—marked by a collapse of morals, political fanaticism and violence, multiculturalism, and the ever tighter centralised control and enforced uniformity of all phases of life by the bicoastal elite, coincided with the degradation of the American cinema.

UPDATES with man charged with trying to burn police car, mention of surveillance video in county police report

FERGUSON • An attorney representing Ferguson Market & Liquor said Sunday night that a video clip highlighted in a new documentary showed Michael Brown in the store early the morning before he was fatally shot by a police officer, but said that it had been edited.

The attorney said the documentary falsely implied there was an exchange of marijuana for store merchandise. He pledged to release video of the interaction in full Monday.

"Planned Parenthood needs abortion because it accounts for 86% of its revenue."

"[L]ike a butcher that doesn't sell steak or a fast food restaurant that doesn't sell burgers, Planned Parenthood couldn't stay in business without offering abortion."
Each time Congress debates whether to defund Planned Parenthood, the inevitable refrain from the group's supporters is that the money it receives from taxpayers doesn't pay for abortions and that, besides, abortion makes up just 3 percent of its services. The group's leaders saturate the media with their claim that their 700 clinics offer women and families "a range of health services."

But an abortion is nothing like a breast exam, which Planned Parenthood clinics offer, or a mammogram, which they do not (though its supporters often claim they do). An abortion is much more serious and consequential. Unlike those other services, it is not meant to protect or enhance life, but rather to destroy it.

AUDIO of Paul Ryan Emerges: ‘I Am Not Going To Defend Donald Trump-Not Now, Not in the Future’

Via Billy

A never-before released audio of Speaker Paul Ryan on a conference call with House Republican was revealed tonight.

The Republican leader told his members of the U.S. House of Representatives that he was abandoning then GOP presidential nominee, Donald Trump forever.

Breitbart with the exclusive report:

In the Oct. 10, 2016 call, from right after the Access Hollywood tape of Trump was leaked in the weeks leading up to the election, Ryan does not specify that he will never defend Trump on just the Access Hollywood tape—he says clearly he is done with Trump altogether.

“I am not going to defend Donald Trump—not now, not in the future,” Ryan says in the audio, obtained by Breitbart News and published here for the first time ever.

The Timely Wisdom of Robert Lewis Dabney

Many of the destructive ideas and “isms” of our century in America had their roots in the 18th and 19th centuries, and a number of Southern writers and clergymen recognized their nature and warned against them. Among these men was Robert Lewis Dabney (1820-1898) of Virginia, one of the South’s great Presbyterian thinkers.  He was the author of a number of works including A Defense of Virginia, The Life and Campaigns of Lieutenant General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson, and Practical Philosophy.

“Truth is never out of date,” Dabney wrote, as the following excerpts from some of his writings will attest.

On politics:

Government Overreach: Lexington 60 West Memorial Battle Flag Temporarily Down

At the request of the property owners, we hired a crane this morning to temporarily remove the 80' pole and 20' x 30' flag raised in Lexington during the Lee-Jackson holiday weekend.

As reported last week, we were prepared to pay the fines that the county of Rockbridge had threatened to levy while we submitted the requested building permit application and request for a "certificate of appropriateness", neither of which had been required on either of the other two flags raised previously in Rockbridge County. However, when the landowner contacted us and requested the pole be temporarily removed until the permits were in place, we agreed to his request, as he had been subject to harassment and even threatened with imprisonment.

The pole and flag will be reinstalled once the permit and certificate are issued, and in the meantime the publicity has led many Rockbridge County residents to contact us about installing flags on their property. We have already filed a permit application for a new 100' pole on Rt 60, and expect at least a half dozen new flags to be flying soon.

By refusing to work with us on bringing this site into compliance, Rockbridge County has in fact helped to boost our support and assisted in acquiring new flag sites for development.

We expect that before we are finished there,  Lexington will soon be giving Danville a run for their money as the "Confederate Flag Capital" of Virginia.

"All we ask is to be let alone..."

Home Depot Co-Founder: TRUMP Could Turn Out to Be One of America’s Best Presidents

Via Billy

If President Donald Trump is able to keep defying expectations — like he did in the election — and push through legislative changes against great odds, he could go down as “one of our greatest presidents ever,” Ken Langone told CNBC on Monday.
Langone, a longtime Republican supporter and the billionaire co-founder of Home Depot, said the Trump presidency offers the GOP, which also controls the House and the Senate, a unique time to deliver on the reasons Americans voted for a political outsider for the White House.
Voters are “fed up,” Langone said on “Squawk Box.” “They did a very dramatic, earth-shattering thing,” and now want results, he said.

President Trump will visit Detroit Wednesday to halt Environmental Protection Agency regulations that would force manufacturers to make cars that average more than 50 miles a gallon.

An industry executive privy to the White House plan told the Washington Examiner to expect Trump to roll back a final decision that the EPA rushed out late last year, when President Obama was heading for the exit, imposing stricter fuel economy and emissions standards for vehicles beginning this year.

Trump will make his announcement at the American Center for Mobility in the Detroit suburb of Ypsilanti, Mich. He'll also visit Nashville, Tenn., that day.

Blood and Soil: How Southerners Became a Separate and Distinct People

Via Billy

Dated

Why is there a “South”? What is this place we call the South? What makes it different from other parts of the United States?

Many years ago, the Alabama writer Clarence Cason wrote that the South was “self-conscious enough and sufficiently insulated to be thought of as a separate province.” Echoing the same theme, W.J. Cash called the South, “not quite a nation within a nation, but the next thing to it.” In his book The American Dilemma, the Swedish sociologist Gunnar Myrdal agreed that the South was “a nation within a nation.” The historian Ulrich B. Phillips once quipped about a ferryman calling the north bank of the Ohio River “the American shore.”

Tennessee sues federal government over refugees

Via David

Tennessee became the first state in the nation on Monday to sue the federal government over refugee resettlement on the grounds of the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of several state lawmakers Monday morning in the western district of Tennessee, alleges that the federal government has violated the 10th Amendment, which says the federal government possesses only the powers delegated to it by the U.S. Constitution and that all other powers are reserved for the states.

In a tacit admission that criminals and scofflaws have had little trouble circumventing Australia’s National Firearms Agreement (NFA) and the government’s confiscation effort, Australian officials have set a date for another firearms amnesty program. The program is set to begin in July and last for three months. Despite offering no compensation for surrendered firearms, government officials hope that the plan will net 260,000 of an estimated 600,000 illegally possessed guns. (Good luck and guaranteed there are a lot more than 600K, doofus.)

Please act immediately. Your gun rights are at stake! With copious input from Gun Owners of America, North Carolina state Representative Chris Millis (R) has introduced one of the best Constitutional Carry bills ever to be introduced in any state. On behalf of 1.5 million law-abiding gun owners, GOA enthusiastically endorses the Millis bill -- House Bill 201 -- and asks for your help in getting more cosponsors. HB 201 recognizes that North Carolinians should not be required to get the government’s permission in order to exercise their God-given rights to protect their families, their communities, our country, and our freedom. Four of the five safest states in the country are Constitutional Carry states.
