Octavia Walton Le Vert

Fredrika Bremer calls the subject of this sketch her “sweet Rose of Florida.” She certainly is a “Rose that all are praising.” It would require the scope of a full biography to change this rose into a bud, and then, petal by petal, to unfold the bud again to the rose; after all, we might not find the dew-drop at its heart, nor be able to trace out its blended tints and exhalations.

Only recently has Madame Le Vert appeared before the world as an author. Long before she accepted the idea, often suggested to her, of writing a book, she was, perhaps, more widely known than any woman of America. Nature evidently planned her, on a large, comprehensive scale, a social genius, and all her good gifts are cut and polished to this end.

Thoroughly cosmopolitan in spirit, she acquires with great facility the languages and idioms which make her at home with different nations. We have seen her the centre of a group made up of representatives from France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and her own country, apparently not only in brilliant rapport with each, through the medium of his own vernacular, but putting the whole circle in sympathy—stringing all upon the thread of her own magnetism. With this rare faculty, she has twice flitted through the countries of the Old World, leaving her name playing like a sunbeam on every city and village, and in the hearts, alike, of the titled and the lowly. She was made up without antipathies, and, in place of them, has large adaptation and tolerance, which, together with her womanly graces, eminently fit her for the office of social harmonizer. There are few spheres so malignant as to repel her utterly, and, if repelled, her sunny soul does not seem to receive any positive shock. She is more electric than eclectic, and something better than either—she was never known to speak or act an unkindness.

Midnight “Release” Again – 178 Page FBI Clinton Email Document Release With Interesting Content

clinton emails

Internet researcher Katica has again discovered the FBI quietly, and without explanation, just released another batch of documents from the “ongoing” FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email use and classified information.  This is release #6, and interestingly this release is titled “part 06 of 06” so there might not be any more.  However, this batch is quite a bit more interesting.

The Super-Bowl weekend release is not a document dump; it surfaces as more of a leak than an official release – this is the same way release #5 surfaced.  Katica has an archive notification set-up to alert when the FBI host data site is changed or updated –SEE HERE– Like release #5, the #6 release is not visible directly, but is downloadable to review –SEE HERE– It’s weird how they are doing this; whoever “they” are.

Religious conservatives’ gamble on President Trump is paying off.

The last several days have brought a slew of victories for evangelicals, many of whom set aside their reservations about Trump to back him during the presidential campaign.

From the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, to Trump’s affirmation of support for allowing tax-exempt churches to engage in politics, to the appointment of Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. to an education task force, evangelicals are seeing the new president quickly deliver on a number of fronts.

“I never doubted his sincerity or his commitment. There were, obviously, those who did. Not just in the evangelical community or in the faith community, but more broadly,” said Ralph Reed, the chairman of the Faith & Freedom Coalition.

Last night on the Hannity Show on FOX News, Sean Hannity interviewed the New England Patriots team owner Robert Kraft. Kraft’s Patriots are in the Super Bowl for the 7th time since 2000. His team is more successful than any other team in the National Football League during this time. In the interview Kraft discussed his appreciation for his relationship with current President Donald Trump.
Kraft said:
Well he and I, we’ve have never done any business together but we have been friends over 20 years.  We’ve had a lot of fun together.  I went to his wedding to Melania.  Bill and Hillary [Clinton] were sitting at the next table, and........

Image result for High-profile Spain trial stokes Catalan independence fervour

Separatists in Catalonia plan to come out in force Monday when the Spanish region's former leader, Artur Mas, stands trial over a non-binding independence referendum he held, further straining ties with Madrid.

Supporters of independence for the wealthy, northeastern region say they hope to draw at least 30,000 protestors on the large avenue next to the Barcelona court Monday morning.

Inside, Mas -- who was president of the semi-autonomous region from 2010 to 2016 -- his former vice-president Joana Ortega and Irene Rigau, the official once responsible for education in Catalonia, will face accusations of "serious civil disobedience" and "misfeasance".

Prosecutors want them banned from holding public office for nine to 10 years for having organised a symbolic, non-binding referendum in November 2014 in public schools, despite a ban from the Constitutional Court.

Le Pen kicks off campaign with promise of French 'freedom': Compares Run to Trump's

French far-right leader Marine Le Pen kicked off her presidential campaign on Saturday with a promise to shield voters from globalization and make their country "free", hoping to profit from political turmoil to score a Donald Trump-style upset.

Opinion polls see the 48-year old daughter of National Front (FN) founder Jean-Marie Le Pen topping the first round on April 23 but then losing the May 7 run-off to a mainstream candidate.

But in the most unpredictable election race France has known in decades, the FN hopes the scandal hitting conservative candidate Francois Fillon and the rise of populism across the West will help convince voters to back Le Pen.

"We were told Donald Trump would never win in the United States against the media, against the establishment, but he won... We were told Marine Le Pen would not win the presidential election, but on May 7 she will win!" Jean-Lin Lacapelle, a top FN official, told several hundred party officials and members.

Author Sam Harris to Bill Maher: ‘The left has allied itself with Islamists’

Via Billy

Host Bill Maher and author Sam Harris agreed on HBO's "Real Time" that the liberal establishment needs to stand up to Islamic extremism more, with Harris declaring "the left has allied itself with Islamists."

“You don't have to be a fascist or a racist or even a Trumpian to not want to import people into your society who think cartoonists should be killed for drawing the prophet," Harris told Maher on Friday.

"In the immediate aftermath of Orlando we have [Hillary] Clinton talking about gun control, only, and then admonishing the whole country not to be racist," Harris, the bestselling author of "Islam and the Future of Tolerance" continued.

"The left has allied itself with Islamists and closet Islamists," he added.

Maher, a staunch critic of Democrats on this particular issue, said parallels between the Ku Klux Klan to ISIS and al-Qaeda need to stop.

Argentina Follows Trump, Cracks Down On Illegal Immigration And Mulls Border Wall

Argentinian president Mauricio Macri

Amid a racially charged national debate on immigration, a former real estate tycoon-turned-president signs an executive order to stop some foreign migrants entering his country and to deport foreign residents with criminal records.

There is even talk of building a border wall, while intemperate language prompts a backlash from a neighbouring country.

But this is not Donald Trump’s America and the wall is not intended to exclude Mexicans.
At the other end of the Americas, Argentina’s millionaire president Mauricio Macri triggered a diplomatic spat with regional neighbours this week after he signed a controversial order to rein in migration.

Prosecute the Rioters For Sedition

Via Billy
And make sure that we condemn them as well.
From time to time over the years, the eminent historian Daniel Pipes has lamented that treason, not just as a crime but as a concept, appears defunct in the West. The question of bringing treason charges against jihadists has been raised from time to time. Often its very asking proves Dr. Pipes’s point: Most radical Islamic terrorists are not American citizens; as to them, treason is not a cognizable offense because traitorous conduct is central to the crime.
Even against American jihadists, a treason charge is of dubious usefulness. The 1996 overhaul of federal counterterrorism law codified crimes tailored to terrorism that are easier to prove than treason. The aim of an indictment in a national-security case should be the surest route to the severest sentence. The point is not to teach a civics lesson, regrettable as our education system’s default has been in that regard.
Yet what is true of treason is not true of sedition. There are charges to bring against those who would destroy our society. They should be brought. Case in point: the University of California at Berkeley.

'Muslim ban' injunction is a judicial coup against President Trump & Unlikely to Stand

Via Billy

Federal district judge James Robart of Seattle ordered a complete, nationwide temporary restraining order against President Trump's temporary ban on visitors from seven Middle Eastern countries.  If you read the ruling, as I have, you can see that this is clearly unconstitutional on its face, and constitutes a judicial coup against President Trump and the executive branch.

1) The standards for granting a temporary restraining order are quite high.  The plaintiff must show that he is likely to succeed on the merits and will suffer irreparable harm if the injunction is not granted.  Here the people from the excluded countries cannot show irreparable harm – only that their entry to the United States will be delayed.  And they are unlikely to succeed on the merits, because the president has no obligation to let foreigners into the country.

On the contrary, there may be irreparable harm if the temporary travel ban is lifted, as terrorists may enter the country and kill people.

The Fourth Turning And The Consequences Of Deliberate Miseducation.

Via Joe

The left has become so deluded and so completely obsessed with Donald Trump that they actually think that fomenting a military coup de'tat to remove him would have some sort of good consequences for them and the nation. First we heard from egotistical moonbat Rosie O'Donnel calling for martial law. Now we've got alleged comedian Sarah Silverman and others openly calling for a coup.

Before we get into the dangers of what they are trying to accomplish we have to first get past the absurdity of an American military coup.  The notion that if the upper echelons of the military did come to such a conclusion, that they could convince unit commanders and the rank and file officers and NCOs to go along with it, is equally absurd.

The biggest absurdity of all is the assumption that if such an event were to occur the military would then simply relinquish power to either the establishment left or to these deranged morons. These obvious delusions stem of course from the persistent and deliberate miseducation of the last 70 years that fascism is a product of the political right, rather than the left. This false notion blinds them to the reality that the political left has made a fatal mistake by aligning themselves with both radical communists and violent anarchists and thinking they can control them as the chaos unfolds. This insanity is exemplified by black Congresswoman Val Demings of Florida who said that the Berkeley riots were "a beautiful thing." That this woman was at one time a police officer before going into politics makes her pronouncement that much more demented and vile. It is clearly driven by hatred, racial, political or otherwise.

W VA Democrat Senator Joe Manchin Hammers Obama’s Failed Policies, Praises Trump For Getting Things Done

Via Billy

Imagine the intensifying pressure on West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, the Senate’s most approachable Democrat for Republicans.

In the increasingly toxic, partisan Washington, D.C., Manchin walks a treacherous path down the middle of the road. He says, “I’m a West Virginia Democrat, not a Washington Democrat.” He looks for solutions, but says “this toxic atmosphere is not for me. It’s not who I am,” he told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

He describes President Donald Trump voters in West Virginia “like returning Vietnam veterans who did everything their country asked and then got kicked in the teeth.” He says his state has done the heavy lifting for America – mining, manufacturing to be the superpower of the world — but the Obama energy and environment policies crushed West Virginia’s spirit.

Confederate flag to fly once more in Walhalla

Via comment by Unknown Reaper Unknown Reaper has left a new comment on PJ Watson on the Battle at Berkley

The Confederate battle flag will return to state property in Walhalla on Saturday, taking the place of a state flag that has flown there since 2015.

James Bessenger, chairman of the South Carolina Secessionist Party, wrote letters to Walhalla city leaders this week urging them to put the battle flag back up and citing the state's Heritage Act.

The memorial is next to S.C. 28 in the city limits.

Bessenger said Friday the flag's return will show respect for fallen Confederate soldiers as well as for the state law, which requires legislative approval for changes to historical monuments.

Luther Lyle, who swapped the Confederate battle flag for a state flag in summer 2015, said going back to the Confederate flag had nothing to do with Bessenger's push.

He said a deal had been reached last weekend at a conference of state Sons of Confederate Veteran leaders, who agreed to take responsibility for the monument from him. Lyle said he was not made aware of the offer until after Bessenger sent letters objecting to the state flag this week.
