Dear Friends,

Here is the invitation of our Polish Confederate friends to come go join them in Gizyn, Poland for a WBTS weekend commemorating Sharpsburg. Gizyn is about 1 3/4 hours by car from Berlin.

Normally there is a skirmish on Friday, another skirmish on Saturday morning, the von Borcke ceremony on Saturday about noon and then the 'big' battle after the ceremony. The Polish, Czech, etc. troops who do this are  very good and very authentic. When we did Appomattox two years ago, you could feel the tremendous sadness of the Confederate troops. These guys are really into this! Some of them had traveled to Virginia to participate in the reenactment there.

There is usually a tent store, a sutler, where you can buy Civil War reenactment items from buckles to boots.

I will represent SCV Europe Camp at the commemoration ceremony for COL Heros von Borcke, Genl JEB Stuart's Chief of Staff, who is buried in the village and in whose honor the weekend is held.At the ceremony, the original grave stores are in front of the mausoleum and flowers are laid, speech and salutes fired.

I attach information about a hotel that  I am staying at and can recommend.

Confederately yours,
