A freshman member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus is calling for special counsel Robert Mueller to recuse himself from the Russia investigation because he has brought on "highly partisan" lawyers to help with the probe.

"Special Counsel Robert Mueller should recuse himself because the integrity of his appointment is in question due to former FBI Director James Comey's manipulative leaks and the relationship between Mr. Comey and Mr. Mueller," Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., said in a statement Friday. "His ability to be impartial is doubtful because he has surrounded himself with highly partisan lawyers who make a special practice to line the coffers of Democrats."

News outlets have reported at least three lawyers Mueller has hired to help conduct his investigation have donated almost exclusively to Democrats. Also, Mueller and Comey are friends and former colleagues.

  1. As the Department of Justice itself promises the world, “No DOJ employee may participate in a criminal investigation or prosecution if he has a personal or political relationship with any person or organization substantially involved in the conduct that is the subject of the investigation or prosecution, or who would be directly affected by the outcome.” A personal relationship “means a close and substantial connection of the type normally viewed as likely to induce partiality.”

The Special Counsel is in obvious violation of the law investigating those who may be in violation of the law! RECUSE YOURSELF! Since he hasn't, the Deputy Atty Gen who appointed him should REMOVE him! --Ron W

  2. Other than the Special Counsel, the only other known violation of the law, a felony, was the surveillance, unmasking of the names of U.S. Citizens (Michael Flynn) and leaking his name to the media. Any investigation by a lawful Special Counsel should begin there. --Ron W

  3. And it's pretty certain that two or more persons COLLUDED or CONSPIRED to commit that crime, that is whoever ordered it and whoever unmasked and leaked the name or other names. To go off on a bit of a tangent, if one consults a dictionary, collusion and conspiracy are synonyms. For many years until very recently, MSM has ignored, derided and disdained conspiracy re: political events and labeled anyone suggesting such pejoratively as "conspiracy theorists". But for months, they have engaged synonymously in "collusion theory". What's up with that?? --Ron W
