"Clear To Texas" - A Poem by Alice Scott

My goodness, what more could you want of a Southern girl?

We were humbled and honored to be the subject of a beautiful and inspirational poem and are sharing it here for your pleasure and appreciation.

Dear Virginia Flaggers

In great appreciation of your deeds, which lift morale in all of the Southern States, I have composed a short poem for you. I only wish that it had been written by a more masterful pen than my own.
Alice Scott ~ San Antonio, Texas.

"CLEAR TO TEXAS"
by Alice Scott ~ San Antonio, Texas

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Virginia Flaggers!
The voice of Dixie shouts elation!
You are a jewel in the Land O' Cotton,
Worthy descendants of a noble generation.

We find ourselves in daily battle,
Against attacks the enemy brings,
Attacks on our Confederate dead,
Attacks on all Confederate things.

Our bones grow weary from little rest,
Between each shameful wretched stunt.
But fear ye not - Virginia Flaggers,
Are riding swiftly to the front!

Our souls exhaust from heavy burden,
From all the hateful wicked wrongs,
But then we see our Southern Cross
a'flyin' high where she belongs!

All is well then with our souls,
Our Southern hearts once more renewed.
We look to-wards the Old Dominion,
With loving thoughts and gratitude.

Keep 'em flyin' great Virginians,
Keep singing songs of Dixieland!
We hear your voices clear to Texas,
We see those flags from the Rio Grande!

British statesman Enoch Powell began his most famous speech with this observation: "The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evils."  I thought of Powell's cogent dictum often over the last week or so, as Rod Dreher (and others) have been loudly insisting that Trump's moral failings prevent Christians from voting for him, and even implying that supporting Trump somehow represents a betrayal of Christianity.  Even more recently, Dreher has tweeted, "By the time this thing is over, Trump will have indelibly stained everyone who stood with him.

Christians, please think hard about this."  Since tens of millions of American Christians of all denominations will in fact end up voting for Trump, that's an awful lot of indelible stain to go around.
Of course, virtually no one will be voting for Trump because of his moral failings.  Those failings are an embarrassment to his supporters and a source of joy to his detractors.  Not even Trump is defending those failings.  (I discussed those failings here.)  He has apologized forthrightly for his comments on the Access Hollywood tape, and denied that he behaved badly toward the women who have come forth on the eve of the election to accuse him of unwanted kissing and groping.  And, at this early stage, it seems that Trump's denial is more believable than some of the accusations, including the claim that Trump groped a woman like an "octopus" in a first class cabin three decades ago.

Since Trump's boorishness is not the basis for his support among Christians, the question is whether there are reasons that would justify Christians deciding to vote for Trump.  The answer to that question is an emphatic yes, since there are clear differences between Trump and the only other person running with a chance of being elected president on November 8, Hillary Clinton.  There are in fact numerous differences on important issues between Trump and Clinton, but two are particularly relevant in considering Dreher's fulminations against Trump: religious liberty, which Dreher believes is imperiled by the Democrats, and the prospect of yet more American intervention in the Mideast, opposition to which is the raison d'ĂȘtre of the American Conservative, the magazine for which Dreher writes.

The Obama administration began something new in American history, an attempt to deprive mainstream Christian bodies of the ability to run their institutions according to the dictates of their religious beliefs.  There is little doubt that a Clinton administration would intensify this assault on the autonomy of Christian institutions.  Indeed, Clinton has spoken of the need of Christians to change their beliefs to conform to today's leftist consensus, and the Clinton emails released by Wikileaks show that close advisers to Clinton created organizations to help undermine the "middle ages dictatorship" that is the papacy and end the "severely backward gender relations" that supposedly mark Catholicism.  The Supreme Court, though, put up a roadblock to the Democratic Party's assault on religious freedom in its 5 to 4 decision in the Hobby Lobby case.  But, with the death of Antonin Scalia, that decision now hangs by a thread, and whether it remains good law will be decided by the justice chosen to replace Scalia. It is virtually certain that a justice chosen by Hillary will cast the deciding vote to overturn Hobby Lobby and give the green light to a renewed assault on religious liberty.  After all, the last Democratic justice who deviated from leftist orthodoxy on social issues was Byron White, appointed by John F. Kennedy in 1961.

The differences are also stark over the American role in Syria.  Clinton, the architect of the disastrous decision to overthrow Khadafy in Libya, is equally committed to regime-change in Syria, even at the risk of confrontation with Russia.  Trump, on the other hand, has no desire to plunge us into another Mideast war, much less one that might also bring about war with Russia.  We know from our sorry experience since 2001 how disastrous intervening in the Mideast has been for America.  We also know how disastrous it has been for Mideast Christians.  And a victory for the forces backed by Clinton in Syria would be a calamity for Syria's Christians.

A victory for Trump, then, at least offers the possibility of preventing the evils of an acceleration of the assault on religious liberty and further American intervention in the Mideast.  Powell ended his speech by declaring, "All I know is that to see, but not to speak, would be the great betrayal."  Dreher sees the preventable evils represented by a Clinton administration, but he is speaking out not to prevent those evils, but to remove a principal obstacle to their realization.  After watching Dreher almost gleefully wash his hands of the problems of contemporary America, I'm beginning to wonder if he should choose a new patron for his much touted "Benedict option" and replace the sturdy father of Western monasticism with the Roman procurator who washed his hands of the problem brought to him one Friday morning in Jerusalem.

Our Future Depends On It . . .

Dr. Dan Eichenbaum - Autumn PATCON 2012

Our founding fathers, men of character born out of deep moral conviction and great personal sacrifice, gave to us the Bill of Rights and US Constitution. Through these documents, they set up a representative form of government, a constitutional republic with three equal branches (executive, legislative, and judicial) that strictly limited the power and scope of the federal government. In addition, the Natural Law Rights of private property, liberty, freedom of speech and religion, and our Second Amendment right of self-protection, among others, were guaranteed to each of us.
The Liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers are concealed from them. ~Patrick Henry
Since the end of the Ronald Reagan Presidency, in spite of an increasingly intrusive government, we regular folks have continued to work hard to make ends meet and play by the rules. We cast our vote every two to four years, sending our newly elected officials to Washington, and watch as one by one they become entrenched in establishment corruption, focused only on personal gain and power, while enacting laws that affect our lives but from which they have exempted themselves.
The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution. ~Thomas Jefferson
By 2010, We The People finally had enough.

Unbelievable! CNN says it's ILLEGAL for you to read the Wikileaks/Hillary Clinton emails; but they'll tell you what they think! :)

The National Anthem, Lincoln, the Slave Owner—and even Better, Dixie

 key-memorial

The Star Spangled Banner, imagery created by Francis Scott Key in his poem written while aboard a British ship (he had been working as an American agent for prisoner exchange and was forced to remain aboard until after the assault on Fort McHenry) is the name for the well-known poem written by Key and later put to borrowed music. It became so popular that by 1916 Woodrow Wilson (by executive order) declared it the National Anthem. Later Congress, by resolution declared it again the National Anthem. Now neither of these actions have any Constitutional standing apart from some national being of the former republic. It was no accident that the seceding Southern states called themselves a confederacy (C.S.A.)

Arlington–A Milestone in History

 cornorstone-arlington

By Dr. Simon Baruch From The New York Sun:

Amid the silent heroes who rest in honored graves on beautiful Arlington’s historic summit was enacted on November 12, 1912, a scene the grandeur of which will illumine the pages of history for all time, modest though it seem among contemporary events. On that day was laid the foundation of a monument to the heroism and self-sacrifice of the soldiers of the Southern Confederacy, of which President Taft spoke as “a shrine and an altar which will be visited in the future by many a faithful pilgrim” and which the assembled women of the South declared to be “a token of love of country in the hearts of the Southern women that had grown into a mighty strength of passion,” and has resulted in the declaration “to the world that the Confederate soldiers and sailors and statesmen shall be remembered forever.”

With the consent and approval of the living representatives of the conquering army this testimonial to a fallen foe is being reared among the graves of their silent conquerors. It was an impressive lesson of “peace and good will to all mankind” to behold the sadly maimed spokesman of the Grand Army of the Republic, Corporal Tanner, who had lived and suffered with the heroic dead of the victorious army, stand with bared head and reverent mien and with his own hand place a trowel of mortar upon the foundation stone of this monument to a fallen foe. On the following day President Taft, the stanch representative of the party which carried the battles for the Union to a successful issue, added luster to his country’s fame by declaring to the assembled United Daughters of the Confederacy: “This occasion has brought you together to celebrate the heroism, courage, and sacrifice of the men of the South. North and South alike should rejoice in the common heritage of courage.” The President’s address bore testimony to the depth of emotion which prompted these and many other words of wisdom and brotherly sympathy.

Is there a parallel in history to this event? Generosity to a fallen foe is the highest test of civilization.

NC: Unyielding Determination at Cemetery Hill

The battle flags carried by Southern units were usually presented in a similar manner as the Desoto Rifles of New Orleans in 1861: “Receive from your mothers and sisters, from those whose affections greet you, these colors woven by our feeble but reliant hands; and when this bright flag shall float before you on the battlefield, let it not only inspire you with the patriotic ambition of a soldier aspiring to his and his country’s honor and glory, but also may it be a sign that cherished loved ones appeal to you to save them from a fanatical and heartless foe.”
Bernhard Thuersam, www.Circa1865.com   The Great American Political Divide

Unyielding Determination at Cemetery Hill

“Choking down their fear, and with their colorbearers leading them on, they started over the rise and then up into the face of the Yankee artillery. The guns on the hill “vomit[ed] forth a perfect storm of grape, canister, shrapnel, etc.” But their commander shouted “forward!” and on they marched, “over fences, ditches, through marshy fields”

After crossing the valley, the left flank of the Federal infantry behind a stone wall at the base of Cemetery Hill hit them with a sheet of flame and lead. Yet because of the darkness and the rolling nature of the terrain, their aim way high; most of the bullets shrieked overhead while the Louisiana Tigers kept going, up the hill and into the first line of [enemy] rifle pits.

The fighting became hand to hand as both brigades climbed the slope. One Southerner remembered “with bayonets and clubbed guns we drove them back” out of the Federals’ lines.

Seeing their forward lines break and the Rebels come screaming at them, the troops in the Federal second and third lines of rifle pits broke and ran. With [Brigadier-General Harry T.] Hays’ Tigers hot on their tails, the Federals retreated to the breastworks and emplacements around two batteries at the top of the hill . . . along the way scores of Federals surrendered, but the Confederates refused to stop and take them prisoner officially, instead simply ordered them to the rear.

It was pitch dark, but now the Louisianans and North Carolinians were in among the [enemy] guns on the crest. Here the fighting became “desperate,” recalled Capt. James F. Beall of the Twenty-first North Carolina:

“[B]ut like an unbroken wave, our maddened column rushed on, facing a continual stream of fire. After charging almost to the enemy’s [third] line, we were compelled to fall back, but only a short distance. The column reformed and charged again, but failed to dislodge the enemy. [Our] brigade held its ground with unyielding determination – ever keeping afloat our flag to battle and breeze.”

Over on the right of [Col. Isaac] Avery’s brigade the Sixth North Carolina had fought its way up . . . At least 75 Tarheels crossed the [enemy’s] wall, fighting with clubs, knives, stones, fists and anything else a man could use to defend himself or attack the enemy.

A Confederate colorbearer, probably from the Sixth North Carolina, jumped up on the wall, pistol in one hand, flag in the other. He shouted out “surrender you Yankees,” but a Federal stuck his bayonet into him and pulled the trigger of his rifle, blowing a hole clear through the Confederate. A Federal soldier grabbed for [the falling flag] at the same moment another Confederate grabbed the other end. The ensuing tug-of-war was won by the Rebel.

What was left of the Sixth cleared the ridge and captured the Federal guns, then retreated down the side of the hill to the stone wall, taking their battle flag with them.

When the first colorbearer of the Twenty-first North Carolina was killed while charging up the hill, the flag was picked up by Major Alexander Miller. When Miller went down, Pvt. J.W. Bennett picked it up, and was also shot. Four more men of the Twenty-first North Carolina were killed carrying the flag, then Capt. James Beall picked it up. “The hour was one of horror,” recalled Beall:

“Amid the incessant roar of cannon, the din of musketry, and the glare of bursting shells making the darkness intermittent – adding awfulness to the scene – the hoarse shouts of friend and foe, the piteous cries of wounded and dying, one could well imagine, (if it were proper to say it), that “war is hell . . .”  To remain was certain capture, to retreat was almost certain death. Few, except the wounded and dead, were left behind. Here, these brave North Carolinians ‘stood, few and faint, but fearless still.”

Guarding Hillary’s health: How Hillary’s health problems make her unfit for the presidency

Bad Health Hillary Illustration by Greg Groesch/The Washington Times

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Among all the recent WikiLeaks email dumps, perhaps the most important one of all has been overlooked by the mainstream media.

In it, Neera Tanden, Hillary Clinton’s longtime political guru, warned campaign manager John Podesta not to raise the question of primary opponent Bernie Sanders’ health because it would draw unwanted attention to the hidden truth about Hillary’s health.

“Hard to think of anything more counter-productive than demanding Bernie’s medical records,” Mr. Tanden emailed Mr. Podesta, according to an email obtained by WikiLeaks from Mr. Podesta’s personal inbox.

Until the publication of my new book, “Guilty As Sin,” the truth about Hillary’s health has been her campaign’s closest guarded secret.

Her physician, Dr. Lisa Bardack, has said that Hillary is fit as a fiddle, but according to my sources in the White House, that is not what President Obama and his senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, believe.
Mr. Obama and Ms. Jarrett have been so worried about Hillary’s health that they recently offered to arrange a secret medical checkup for her at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Hillsborough police are investigating an apparent firebombing of the Orange County Republican headquarters, an incident that one state GOP official called an act of “political terrorism” according to the Charlotte observer.  Police say the incident occurred when a bottle of flammable liquid was thrown through the front window of the office on Ja-Max Dr.

The flammable substance appears to have ignited inside the building, burned some furniture and damaged the building’s interior before going out. The substance was housed in a bottle thrown through one of the building’s front windows. No damage estimates are available yet, and Hillsborough police are continuing to investigate the incident with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Old School Carb Looks with EFI Performance from Holley’s Terminator Stealth

Many of us old school hot rodders prefer the looks of a big carb sitting atop our high rise intake manifold over the rather wimpy looking fuel rail and injectors of most electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems on the market today. Holley’s an old school company that is dedicated to giving us the latest and greatest go-fast toys. They’ve given us a winner that warms the cockles of my heart, because it looks like a big 900+ CFM carburetor but delivers the performance and efficiency of injection.

The Elite "Have No Idea" - Society Is Near The Breaking Point

Via Billy

http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user3303/imageroot/20161014_pitch.jpg?1476461877

What I find most surprising today is that the insiders and the elite have no idea what is percolating just beneath the surface.  Okay, maybe their arrogance actually produces its own fog, so it should not come as a surprise that they are blinded. They do not look at the calendar, which, if one really looks, says "1788" on it.  Something is close.  Very close.  Society is near the breaking point.

My own experience is that Hillary’s so-called Deplorables are actually the most reserved, most polite, and most honest demographic in the country. They are more informed, more self-reliant, and among other things, better armed.  Regarding their arms, they are incredibly responsible, and not the source of the violence for which the implement, and not the person, is too often blamed.  The Deplorables have the longest fuse.  It is, however, a fuse.

Alt Left, on the other hand, are the Neo Fascists and Neo Neocons.  It is Alt Left that thinks Free Speech means THEIR speech only.  It is Alt Left that needs 'safe spaces' and wants to enforce thought crime.

The Clinton campaign’s bigotry

Rednecks, evangelicals and Southerners, among many others, get a hit

Rednecks are worth 100 of Hillary.  The backbone of the ANV and other Southern armies.

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

How does Hillary Clinton and her gang not love you? Let me count the ways: Standard rednecks. Deplorable. Irredeemable. Not American. Needy Latinos. The mocking of Catholics and Evangelicals, and Southerners. And let’s not forget those poor Bernie Sanders-supporting basement dwellers.

The exposure of the Clinton campaign’s rank bigotry would be one of the biggest news stories of a presidential campaign if many in the legacy media weren’t also colluding with the campaign itself, as revealed by WikiLeaks. Because you can help a campaign not by what you do report, but also by what you don’t report.

After a week of being told 24/7 that the biggest story in the world was that Donald Trump had no respect for anyone, strangely enough Bill and Hillary Clinton were proving that was actually their problem. Various WikiLeaks dumps also provided the most enlightening window into the appalling bigotry of the miserable bunch that is the Hillary Clinton campaign.

While a cigar and a blue dress were missing from former President Bill Clinton’s gathering in Fort Myers, Florida, for his wife’s campaign, Mr. Clinton did have a choice description for Donald Trump supporters —“standard rednecks.”

The Washington Examiner reported his remarks:

Google Search Trends: How To Vote For Trump Is Crushing How To Vote For Hillary

Via Billy

how to vote for trump

Don’t we just love our Google data, folks? I swear, we have the best Google data! Granted, Google has already censored crucial election data, but thank god that the Google Trends tool is still a thing.

Even though we know that Trump is going to win by a landslide, it remains unclear that Google search data can predict election results.

Although, being that “how to vote for Trump” is crushing Hillary, the Clinton camp should be very concerned. Seriously, “how to vote for Trump” has nearly twice as many searches as “how to vote for Hillary”. Feel free to spin that as “uneducated” Trump supporters. But, the fact that more potential voters are searching how to vote for Trump should be extremely telling.

Project Veritas founder and conservative activist James O’Keefe participated in a Reddit AMA (“Ask Me Anything”) in which he said that he planned to release one video per day over the next week about Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton that expose her and the Democrat Party’s “dirty tricks.”

“I know people want me to clarify that the footage directly involves HRC. Again, the answer is yes. And it’s more than that. We’ve exposed the whole network. The dirty tricks, how they commit the voter fraud, illegal coordination — is delegated from the top down,” O’Keefe wrote during the Reddit AMA.

Plenty of good information came out today when Wikileaks published their eighth go-round of Clinton campaign chair John Podesta’s emails.

This one in particular says a lot about Hillary’s character.

Grandma admits the current political system is designed to protect incumbents, and that she wants to rework rules in the Senate in order to undercut opposition to Democrats.

That’s not all.

She said incumbents do not have “the full interests of the people.”

Fantastic.

Gingrich: 20 Media Executives Are Launching A "Coup D'Etat" Against Millions Of Trump Voters

Via Billy

 http://images.rcp.realclearpolitics.com/384317_1_.jpg

In an interview with 'This Week' co-host Martha Raddatz, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich categorized Donald Trump's 'rigged election' claims as a "coup d'etat" against fourteen million citizens who voted for Donald Trump in the Republican primary committed by "20 media executives."

"This is about last Friday when the networks spent 23 minutes on the Trump tape," he said. "And less than one minute -- all three networks combined -- less than one minute on the Hillary Clinton’s secret speeches that were being revealed on WikiLeaks."

"I think it’s amazing that Trump is as close as he is right now, considering the one-sidedness of the news media barrage," Gingrich said.

He also said: "I’m old enough to remember when Richard Nixon had the election stolen in 1960 and no serious historian doubts that Illinois and Texas were stolen. So to suggest that we have -- that you don’t have theft in Philadelphia is to deny reality."
