Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) has been offered the attorney general job by Donald Trump, according to a report.

CBS reports Trump made the offer to Sessions, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Sessions was an early endorser of Trump, and has become a close and trusted adviser.

In a statement released Thursday, the Trump transition team hinted at his appointment: “[T]he President-elect has been unbelievably impressed with Senator Sessions and his phenomenal record as Alabama’s Attorney General and U.S. Attorney. It is no wonder the people of Alabama re-elected him without opposition.”
