“But we are the only advanced country on Earth that sees this kind of mass violence erupt with this kind of frequency. It doesn’t happen in other advanced countries. It’s not even close. And as I’ve said before, somehow we’ve become numb to it and we start thinking that this is normal.” –President Obama, announcing his new executive orders on guns, January 7, 2016

This claim is simply not true.  Between January 2009 and December 2015, there are 11 European countries with a higher frequency of these mass public shootings than the US, and 10 European countries with a higher rate of deaths from these attacks.

  1. Only a candidate who calls the POTUS on his lying can get my vote. I begin to believe that America has bought into lying and denying as a way of life, as Orwell predicted. The horrible crimes of the invading horde in Europe make us feel comfortable with our lying leaders. Once I realized that a thug like our CIC could brutalize our Generals with no criticism, I gave up hope for America. I have been saying since the seventies that the Army officers (who were my real bosses) and the company execs had only one interest--their retirement package.

That was not true of Lee, Jackson, Richard Henry Lee, Jefferson, the Adams men, Madison, Mason, nor the Voice of Freedom, Patrick Henry. The greatest thing I ever read when I was a newly adopted-by-marriage Virginian was that on one day George Washington sat in The Virginia House of Burgesses at the east end of the street on which Patrick Henry sat in his law office at the center of the street while Thomas Jefferson lectured at the College of William and Mary at the west end.

Is there any equivalent to that triumvirate today? I fear not.

I think I'll rely on the advice of John the Baptizer, Jesus of Nazareth, and Simon Peter, men who left their day jobs to become itinerate public street preachers, all of whom in their first pronouncement told the "good" people Repent! They are my model triumvirate of sanity on this second Sunday of 2016.

Please send your offering money to Brock who furnishes us our pulpit at no charge. Heh. This is the only place that I can speak freely. My meditation letter for today spoke of Free Will and Freedom and the responsible uses of them. I pray I do not abuse Brock's hospitality. He is the nearest upholder of the principles expressed by those six men of whom I spoke that I know of. Certainly none of the so-called candidates are in the league of him and those two great triads of Founders of the two greatest Republican model organizations. Both Christianity and America have slid in my lifetime but all I have told many alcoholics, drug addicts, and plain losers in prisons, hospitals, and church basement meetings for thirty six years is what great men told me, "If you want what we have, do what we do." I think that applies to us today.

Every blog that has blessed my old age has had a contribution button that beginning this month will be used. I want to invest in a winner, like FreeNorthCarolina. It all comes down to Lives, Fortune, and Sacred Honor. Time to fish or cut bait, go all in or all out. I care not if the Oregon Occupiers are right or wrong. They are the stuff of Founders and I salute them.

I hadn't heard that and just marvelous.

  2. I hate to admit as well studied as I am this fact surprised me. That in Europe where it is all most impossible for a citizen to own a gun mass shootings have a higher frequency than America. And that America did not even make the top ten...WOW just wow. I'm embarrassed to admit drinking the Kool-Aid.
