Donald Trump: An Evaluation

"Do we need this loud mouth?"

Nobody knows the answer to that question. But here's another question: Who else is there? We are going to have a president no matter what. Someone is going to be "elected." And at least Trump says things out loud that MUST be said--and refuses to engage in the customary (obligatory) disgusting public display of self-abnegation and apologizing afterwards. Apart from anything else, he gives voice to our sentiments. And that is huge all by itself. And new. And encouraging.

It's true what PCR says, but...but what? And I'm not talking about voting. Voting doesn't matter. Everybody knows that. But--and for me, this is the central thing--for a man despised by the "Press" and by the Establishment to be elected in direct disobedience to the stated wishes of the "Press" and the Establishment would be a great victory--even if a hollow one. And we need a victory. Our situation is dire.

Our people need to see that it is possible to defy the Establishment and the "Press" successfully, no matter what the subsequent details might turn out to be. Even if he is co-opted after the "elections"--or even before them--our people will at least have been energized by the taste of success, however fleeting that might be. People will know that it is acceptable to say politically incorrect things right out loud. The situation is desperate. And who else is there? Somebody is going to be "elected." Yes, he's a brash, loud-mouthed, pushy Yankee, but he is singing our song, if only for the present. Our people are beginning to see the real problems that confront us--because of this loudmouth. After all, this is exactly how feminism and gay marriage and racial equality and all the rest of it triumphed--by the constant repetition of the New Religion's catechism. For somebody--however unattractive--to be expressing our thoughts constantly and defiantly is beyond price. The campaign alone is a victory for us.

And even if Trump is not elected, the campaign will have made it clear to everybody that the Establishment and their new religion can be defied openly. We might not find ourselves with a president who is one of us, but we might find ourselves with something of a loud mouthpiece. That would be a step forward for us, however small.

And the only apparent alternatives are Hillary, Cruz, and "Jeb!" And I include Jeb! because I don't by any means count him out yet. I have seen the GOP Establishment in action with my own eyes. Nothing is too base for them.

And the more anti-Trump the Establishment becomes, the better. Because the more they denounce him, the clearer the real problems become to the somnolent  population. And the more vitriolic the Establishment becomes, the greater the defiance of them each vote for Trump will be. Yes, it's all insane, but there it is. Neither the situation nor the candidate is ideal, but we're not going to get that anyway. Here is a chance to defy the Establishment before the eyes of the whole world. After that, well, we shall see. But I think we need that.

  1. I'll support Trump. The Establishment Republicans and the Communist (Democrat) Party be damned.
