"Boehner is despised by the younger, more conservative members of the House Republican Conference. They are repelled by his personal behavior. He is louche, alcoholic, lazy, and without any commitment to any principle. Boehner has already tried to buy the members with campaign contributions and committee assignments, which he has already promised to potentially difficult members. His hold is insecure. He is not [Newt] Gingrich, the natural leader of a 'revolution,' riding the crest into power. He is careworn and threadbare, banal and hollow, holding nobody's enduring loyalty."

The 'Trumpkin' revolt

Via comment by Quartermain on Military Times: Obama’s personal approval rating a...

 http://i58.tinypic.com/30upi61.jpg

The vast majority of us “Trumpkins,” or whatever we’ve been designated by our media betters, fully understand that Donald Trump is not the second coming of Ronald Reagan.  Though what many fail to grasp is that given current circumstances, he’s the best many of us hope to do.  We’re prepared to put “real conservatism” on the back burner for now.

We’re desperate for a leader who will unabashedly put Americans first!  Who is willing to talk about closing the border and, God forbid, enforcing the laws that have been on the books for decades.  But above all, that most politically incorrect sin of all sins, to “make America great again.”

"The Democrats are right, there are two Americas. The America that works and the America that doesn’t.

The America that contributes and the America that doesn’t. It’s not the haves and the have nots, it’s the dos and the don’ts. Some people do their duty as Americans, obey the law, support themselves, contribute to society and others don’t. That’s the divide in America .

It’s not about income inequality, it’s about civic irresponsibility. It’s about a political party that preaches hatred, greed and victimization in order to win elective office. It’s about a political party that loves power more than it loves its country.

That’s not invective, that’s truth, and it’s about time someone said it.

The politics of envy was on proud display a couple weeks ago when President Obama pledged the rest of his term to fighting “income inequality.” He noted that some people make more than other people, that some people have higher incomes than others, and he says that’s not just. That is the rationale of thievery.

The other guy has it, you want it, Obama will take it for you. Vote Democrat. That is the philosophy that produced Detroit.

It is the electoral philosophy that is destroying America. It conceals a fundamental deviation from American values and common sense because it ends up not benefiting the people who support it, but a betrayal.

The Democrats have not empowered their followers, they have enslaved them in a culture of dependence and entitlement, of victim-hood and anger instead of ability and hope. The president’s premise – that you reduce income inequality by debasing the successful–seeks to deny the successful the consequences of their choices and spare the unsuccessful the consequences of their choices. Because, by and large, income variations in society are a result of different choices leading to different consequences.

Those who choose wisely and responsibly have a far greater likelihood of success, while those who choose foolishly and irresponsibly have a far greater likelihood of failure.

Success and failure usually manifest themselves in personal and family income. You choose to drop out of high school or to skip college – and you are apt to have a different outcome than someone who gets a diploma and pushes on with purposeful education.

You have your children out of wedlock and life is apt to take one course; you have them within a marriage and life is apt to take another course. Most often in life our destination is determined by the course we take.

My doctor, for example, makes far more than I do. There is significant income inequality between us. Our lives have had an inequality of outcome, but, our lives also have had an in equality of effort. While my doctor went to college and then devoted his young adulthood to medical school and residency, I got a job in a restaurant. He made a choice, I made a choice, and our choices led us to different outcomes. His outcome pays a lot better than mine. Does that mean he cheated and Barack Obama needs to take away his wealth? No, it means we are both free men in a free society where free choices lead to different outcomes.

It is not inequality Barack Obama intends to take away, it is freedom. The freedom to succeed, and the freedom to fail. There is no true option for success if there is no true option for failure. The pursuit of happiness means a whole lot less when you face the punitive hand of government if your pursuit brings you more happiness than the other guy. Even if the other guy sat on his arse and did nothing. Even if the other guy made a lifetime’s worth of asinine and short sighted decisions.

Barack Obama and the Democrats preach equality of outcome as a right, while completely ignoring inequality of effort.

The simple Law of the Harvest – as ye sow, so shall ye reap – is sometimes applied as, “The harder you work, the more you get.”

Obama would turn that upside down. Those who achieve are to be punished as enemies of society and those who fail are to be rewarded as wards of society. Entitlement will replace effort as the key to upward mobility in American society if Barack Obama gets his way. He seeks a lowest common denominator society in which the government besieges the successful and productive to foster equality through mediocrity. He and his party speak of two Americas, and their grip on power is based on using the votes of one to sap the productivity of the other. America is not divided by the differences in our outcomes, it is divided by the differences in our efforts.

It is a false philosophy to say one man’s success comes about unavoidably as the result of another man’s victimization.

What Obama offered was not a solution, but a separatism. He fomented division and strife, pitted one set of Americans against another for his own political benefit. That’s what socialists offer. Marxist class warfare wrapped up with a bow. Two Americas, coming closer each day to proving the truth to Lincoln’s maxim that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

“Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.”

Donald Trump Rebuts Pope Francis on Climate Change: ‘It’s Weather’

Via Cousin Joel

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks to the media before a campaign event September 23, 2015 in Columbia, South Carolina. Earlier today, Trump tweeted 'FoxNews has been treating me very unfairly & I have therefore decided that I won't be doing any more Fox shows for the foreseeable future.' (Photo by

GOP frontrunner Donald Trump disagrees with Pope Francis’ statements on climate change. Trump tells CNN he simply doesn’t believe in it.

The Pope, in his speech at the White House, said climate change is “a problem which can no longer be left to a future generation.”

Trump was asked during his interview if he agreed with the Pope on climate change.

“I think that clean air is a pressing problem. You want to have clean air, clean water.

That’s very important to me, and I’ve won many environmental awards. I am not a believer in climate change,” Trump stated.

Politico reported on Trump’s statement, and added, “The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association announced last week that 2015 was the hottest summer on record and predicted that there is a good chance that this year could eclipse last year as the hottest ever recorded.”

Trump adds:

After the Balls

Mark on his last appearance in Copenhagen, surrounded by his security detail

Greetings from Copenhagen, where I'll be speaking at the Danish Parliament tomorrow, Saturday, on the tenth anniversary of the Mohammed cartoons. If you're one of the untold millions of "Syrian" "refugees" currently vacationing in Northern Europe, do swing by and say hi.

~Back in the US, I see my old boss from National Review, Rich Lowry, has also been sharpening his scimitar, although aiming it somewhat lower than the head-hackers. The other night he asserted re Trump on Fox News that "Carly [Fiorina] cut his balls off with the precision of a surgeon". Reader Maggie Menzies writes from beautiful British Columbia to comment:
I bet your pal Jason Steorts won't like this.
Indeed. Jason Lee Steorts is Rich Lowry's Number Two and something of a delicate flower who tut-tutted over what proved to be my final column that "I found the derogatory language... both puerile in its own right and disappointing coming from a writer of such talent." So I wonder if he will be, any day now, deploring Rich's inaugural balls.

I was not hitherto aware that what Lowry looks for in a presidential candidate is a ruthless emasculator. Say what you like about the Reverend Jesse Jackson, but at least, when he ventures into this territory, he offers to do it himself.

If I understand Rich correctly, at the first debate Carly Fiorina was excluded - like Cinderella, unable to go to the ball. At the second debate, Cinderella seized her moment and went for the balls.

But the problem with the Lowry statement is that it's not true.

Feminists vs Facts & Logic: This is Gonna Get Ugly

When confronted with reason and coherence, feminists flee to their “safe spaces,” petrified that coming face to face with the truth about their batshit crazy beliefs will leave them “triggered” for life.

During a recent ‘Slutwalk’ in Edmonton, The Rebel Media’s Lauren Southern once again highlighted the stunning incompetence of feminists when it comes to defending their viewpoints.

WARNING: These clips may cause spontaneous fits of uncontrolled laughter.

 1) Feminist says I don’t need to give you facts, because I don’t have any

2) Male feminist can’t even explain what his sign means

3) Feminist says rape allegations should be believed without evidence

4) Feminist says being catcalled is the same as being stoned to death

Via David "In fairness, I think this is the REAL QUESTION: Not "Are you a Muslim?" but "What role do you see Sharia law playing in America?"

As an aside, at an "interfaith" day at our Shul, we had a Christian preacher (of some flavor), and a local Imam.  My wife - a MUSLIM - was quite put back by the two women accompanying the latter, saying "How horrible!" to the head scarves and robes the women were wearing.  But something tickled me during the Q&A session, which I didn't really realize fully until later.  That Imam dropped something to the effect that it was "secular law" that was the real problem in America.

It didn't truly dawn on me until later that what he was (possibly) saying was that he wanted to see "religious law" - i.e., Sharia - instead."

Six years ago, Christopher Hitchens perfectly predicts the current climate of speech suppression. A real prophet.

Gun Hating Liberals Close Last Historic Gun Shop In San Francisco

Roundabout via Cousin Bill

Opening in the 1950s by a celebrated Olympic shooter, High Bridge Arms was a defiant symbol in San Francisco’s Mission District. However, a new wave of firearm restrictions have forced the last gun shop in the liberal hell hole to close down.

The new city regulations, which are aimed specifically at High Bridge Arms because it’s the only gun shop left, would have required the shop to take invasive video of all transactions and turn in customers’ personal data to police on a weekly basis. According to the general manager, Steven Alcairo, the shop is finally giving up after years of being unfairly targeted with burdensome rules and regulations.

“This time, it’s the idea of filming our customers taking delivery of items after they already completed waiting periods,” Alcairo said. “We feel this is a tactic designed to discourage customers from coming to us.

It’s official. On Friday morning the United States, and 192 other nations, unanimously adopted the new United Nations Sustainable Development goals. These “goals“, designed to eradicate world poverty and fight Climate Change, include the Socialist ideals of universal healthcare, universal education, universal employment, and wealth redistribution, all of which must in place by 2030.

Gov. Thomas E. Dewey on Big Government, Circa 1950

 http://affordablehousinginstitute.org/blogs/us/wp-content/uploads/imageslwa-dewey-groundbreaking-alsmith-1948-small.jpg

The following are excerpts from a Gov. Thomas E. Dewey speech delivered in April 1950 regarding how a sectional political party in this country is “a menace to responsible government.” He viewed the Democrat party as a liberal and radical party, with policies similar to Lenin’s.  Ironically, he denounces sectional parties as a menace with no legitimate role in a free society, though his own party originated as such in 1854.

The Great American Political Divide

Gov. Thomas E. Dewey on Big Government, Circa 1950

“Big Government: New Trend in US” Lecture on Political Science by Thomas E. Dewey, Governor of New York.

“Although the United States is the youngest of the great nations, ours is one of the oldest free republics on earth. Its durability has persisted in the face of wars and the inevitable frailty of human beings who conduct government. Our political history has been the history of a two-party system in action. From the early days of the republic our basic political arrangement has been the same — one party in power and one party in opposition.

The Democratic party would be the liberal to radical party. The Republican party would be the conservative to reactionary party.

Now is there a legitimate role for third parties in this country? The answer depends on whether the third party is national in character with intellectual breadth and a broad base of popular support, or whether it is narrowly local in nature.

Such sectional or local parties are, basically, only splinter movements. They have proved to be a menace to responsible government here, just as they have to responsible governments elsewhere. I see no legitimate place for hem in a free system such as ours.

On Big Government Lenin has said that socialized medicine is the “keystone of the arch” of communism. Socialized medicine today is a major part of the President’s legislative program.

In the same way last year, Mr. Truman called for power to use federal funds to build factories which would compete with privately-owned factories. It is fundamental that no citizen can successfully compete against his government . . .

Why has Big Government made such a successful appeal to our people these last 17 years? I think it is because many millions of Americans have been persuaded that Big Government is the alternative to depression and insecurity. The offer of Big Government today is to protect its people against the hazards of life. Its method, for the present, is to socialize incomes through taxation and to socialize risks. Government which pretends to take the risks out of life is fraudulent. All it does is remove the rewards.

And if the final result is total leisure in the form of continuous paid unemployment, the result will not be a richer life but a national last illness. Big Government, like dictatorships, can continue only by growing larger and larger. It can never retrench without admitting failure. It feeds on the gradual obliteration of State and local governments as elements of sovereignty and tends to transform them into districts and prefectures.

By adsorbing more than half of all the taxing power of the nation, Big Government now deprives the State and local governments of the capacity to support the programs they should conduct. In place of their own taxing powers, it offers them in exchange the counterfeit currency of federal subsidy.”

We’re Sorry For Producing Our Cisgendered Son

Via David

https://abagond.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/genderpriv.jpg?w=500

As a straight, white, cisgender male, I don’t face the challenges that many women, minorities, or genderqueer do on a daily basis. My life is easy. I benefit from a patriarchal system that lends power and privilege to individuals with my characteristics. While I didn’t ask for it, it is my duty to own it. I want to preface this article by acknowledging my privilege, and apologizing beforehand if I step out of line, or any of the following causes offense.

Despite my privilege, even I am faced with challenges. While my challenges do not hold a candle to say, my partner Gwendalin’s (though we are lawfully married, we prefer not to use the traditional identifiers of “man” or “wife,” as they carry connotations of patriarchal ownership and rape culture) even the most underprivileged in our societal system, who are victims of white corporate oppression, may sympathize. I’m speaking, of course, about the disappointment of raising a child who subscribes to the traditional gender binary.

Gwen and I, despite our best efforts, are currently the parents of a cisgendered son.
