Texas Governor Greg Abbott speaks at a press conference in Austin, Texas, on February 18, 2015

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law on Saturday bills allowing the open carrying of handguns in public and of concealed handguns on state university campuses, his office said.

Abbott, a Republican, said the measures secure Texans' rights to bear arms guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment.

"Today, I am proud to expand liberty in the Lone Star State," Abbott said in a statement.

The GOP

Via Terry concerning Why America Hates the GOP-Obamatrade Deal

 http://radixnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/TradeSecrets-620x315.jpg

Dear Conservative Voter,

In spite of controlling both houses of Congress and our best effort, the GOP couldn't stop, or defund, or even slow Obamacare, EO Amnesty, or Net Neutrality. And using the "Nuclear Option" in the Senate to stop Obama's agenda dead in its tracks just wouldn't be very sporting. But we fought the good fight and tried. We did try. We really did.

The Speaker, himself, was so distraught about the turn of those events that he was literally brought to tears, again.

If we only had control of the House, the Senate, AND THE PRESIDENCY, We'd really show those Democrats whose boss! Boy...would we ever!

Trust us.

Donate $100, $500, $1000...What the Hell?...Who are we trying to kid?...the sky is the limit! Give until it hurts! Send your cash to:

The Republican National Committee
310 First Street SE, Washington, DC 20003

Donate today and receive a "Waving White Flag" lapel pin to proudly wear to demonstrate that you have tunnel vision and steadfast support for the GOP!

Sincerely,

Your betters at the RNC

PS

Watch for our leadership to push the "Obamatrade bill™". They're so in tune with GOP base voters that you won't need (or get) to read it before it gets voted on. But you'll love it anyway. Because, remember, we're the R's not the D's!

South Carolina’s Gov. Nikki Haley has signed into law a bill to stop efforts to ‘Boycott, Divest and Sanction’ Israel and while the bill makes no mention of Israel directly, it prevents public entities from contracting with businesses engaging in the “boycott of a person or an entity based in or doing business with a jurisdiction with whom South Carolina can enjoy open trade.”

DIARY OF OUR HEROES ► COMMANDO IN MALI

Who or what is a Special Forces commando? For once, the mystery surrounding the elite unit of the Dutch army is replaced by the real story. For the first time we experience what a real commando sees, does and thinks. During the UN peacekeeping mission MINUSMA in Mali, one commando kept a video diary. This commando, who filmed everything from his point of view, gives the viewer a unique glimpse into the life of a commando on mission in the eight-part series “Dagboek van Onze Helden – Commando in Mali”.

THE DUTCH MISSION IN MALI

Since April 2014, the Dutch Special Operations Forces are operating in the desert of the African country Mali. Mali is likely to be a breeding ground for terrorist organizations. For this reason, the UN peacekeeping mission MINSUMA was conceived.

The Dutch Special Operations forces form the 'eyes and ears' of this mission. The commandos gather intelligence and investigate where battling parties are located. That is not without danger. Attacks with homemade bombs, ambushes and raids are part of the daily threat. With the Dutch findings and intelligence further operations are considered. This makes the Dutch contribution very important and unique.

Vietnam: The loss of American innocence?

Via comment by Anonymous on NC: Melvin Garten, Army's most decorated colonel, ...

When Neil Armstrong took his small step for man in the lunar dust in July 1969, Americans saw it as proof there were no Earthly limits. Nothing then seemed beyond the reach of American power, prestige and know-how. It took Vietnam to expose the hubris in that sentiment.

The American Century was at its zenith. Unrivaled U.S. wealth and prosperity, predictable fruits of the postwar Pax Americana, lifted national influence to new heights globally.

Hollywood, rock music, blue jeans and hamburgers carried American culture, taste and values to the far corners of the world.

Yet with images of Apollo 11 fresh on the mind, Vietnam forced Americans to accept limits to U.S. power and to acknowledge their reach had exceeded their grasp. With apologies to Robert Browning, that troublesome realization was not what they believed a heaven was for.

Fifty years later, the Vietnam War remains an enigma. Its legacy distorted by folklore, myth, political spin, cloudy memories and the perverted history of feature films and popular fiction. Yet it remains clear the war changed America in profound ways still not understood.

It changed who we are and how we see ourselves. It fundamentally revised our view of the world and the world’s view of us. It reshaped our institutions, particularly the military. It altered not only how we fight wars, but when and why we choose to fight.

NC: Failed Sting May Have Been Entrapment

 http://grahameditorial.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/large-crowd.jpg

GRNC has been monitoring progress of investigation into the botched 2009-2013 multi-agency sting operation code-named "Something Bruin".

Agencies involved include the US Forest Service, the National Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service and North Carolina and Georgia state wildlife agencies. The four year, multimillion undercover operation was claimed necessary to stop "known" bear poaching rings operating in North Carolina and Georgia.

Victims recount "Gestapo-like" tactics

In February, 2013 dozens of agents in tactical gear carrying automatic weapons raided suspects' homes reportedly seizing everything from firearms, hunting equipment and mounted trophies, to boats, machinery and even toys. Reports are that these raids were conducted without warrants, homes were maliciously ransacked, and residents, including children, terrified.

Ultimately, 81 people were charged with 980 violations. Ten plead guilty to federal misdemeanors, possibly under pressure to avoid costs associated with a jury trial. Only one serious charge, illegally transporting a bear carcass, has resulted in a conviction, after initial dismissal in district court. The illegal transport across state lines in question was apparently done by an undercover agent. The conviction is currently being appealed.
A three-part media series explaining the case is available on YouTube

Girl Scouts Of America Hire An Open Lesbian As New Executive ‘Girl Experience Officer’

Via Cousin John

girl-scouts-hire-outed-lesbian-krista-kokjohn-poehler-as-girl-experience-officer

As millions of moms consider digging into pocketbooks for Girl Scout cookies this year, they may be interested to know about the hiring of Krista Kokjohn-Poehler in the Girl Scouts executive office in New York City.

EDITOR’S NOTE: With the hiring of an open lesbian to set company policy on “girl experience”, the Girl Scouts of America have sent a very strong message that they fully intend to use their organization to recruit and indoctrinate for the LGBT. Boycotting Girl Scout cookies is no longer good enough. Mothers of America, it’s time pull your daughter out of GSA for good.

Krista Kokjohn-Poehler is an out lesbian married to a woman named Ashley Kokjohn.

And, given her sexual preference, it may strike some as odd that her job title is “Girl Experience Officer.”

Her hiring five months ago was largely missed by the coterie of Girl Scout critics around the country who make the claim that the Girl Scouts have drifted leftward in the past 20 years.

 Excerpt

As even a casual guest of Liberty’s Torch can easily see, I lack all “compassion” for “the poor.” In point of fact, I’m sick of hearing about them. When someone attempts to rub them in my face, my immediate response is either “How poor are they, and why?” or exceedingly profane. I must confess that I find the shocked face that usually produces somewhat gratifying.

I’ve been acquainted with persons who were really poor: unable to obtain their next meal without the intervention of charity, divine providence, or a favorable outcome to a bet. That’s not what “poor” means in America today. America’s “poor” are the best fed, best sheltered, and best housed “poor” in the history of Mankind. Moreover, all the opportunities of American society are open to them, if they can muster the price. In many (not all) cases, the price is effort, or thrift, or the sacrifice of one’s indulgences, or all three. Why, then, do they remain “poor?” Are they not as “free to choose” as you or I?

Congressman Mike Roger

Via comment by Anonymous on Illegal Immigration in North Carolina: $2.0 Billi...

Citing wasted tax dollars and attacks on the constitutionally guaranteed liberties of the American people, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.; shown) introduced a bill to restore U.S. sovereignty and withdraw from the United Nations. The effort to de-fund and exit the UN comes amid growing scrutiny of the global organization, often ridiculed as the “dictators club,” and myriad mega-scandals swirling around it. However, despite ever-growing support in Congress for restoring U.S. sovereignty by withdrawing from the UN over the years, the legislation still faces an uphill battle.

In a statement last week announcing the American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2015 (H.R. 1205), Rep. Rogers noted that many of his constituents in East Alabama would likely agree with his position that U.S. government participation in the UN should end immediately. “The U.N. continues to prove it’s an inefficient bureaucracy and a complete waste of American tax dollars,” the congressman said, echoing widespread concerns about the international outfit expressed across America and worldwide.

Gunman surrounded in van after bizarre attack on Dallas police HQ

Authorities were in a standoff early Saturday with at least one gunman in an armored van who fled the scene of a bizarre attack on Dallas police headquarters with gunfire and planted explosives.

Police chased the vehicle to a restaurant parking lot in the community of Hutchins, where it was surrounded and "disabled" with a .50 caliber rifle, according to Dallas police.
The blue van was parked near a field at the edge of the parking lot, with police cars clustered at a distance behind it.

Army lab cited eight years ago for failing to properly kill anthrax samples

Via comment by Anonymous on The US Army: an institution corrupted to its very ...

The Army bioterror defense research facility that has mistakenly sent live anthrax to dozens of labs in the U.S. and abroad faced potential sanctions in 2007 for failing to properly kill specimens of the deadly bacteria – and ignoring test results that indicated their kill process wasn't effective, USA TODAY has learned.

The lab safety violations identified eight years ago at the Army's Dugway Proving Ground in Utah were so serious that federal regulators referred the facility for further investigation and possible enforcement action, federal lab regulators said in response to questions from USA TODAY. But no fine was ever issued and records show the incident was never disclosed in the annual reports sent to Congress by the program that oversees labs working with potential bioterror pathogens.
