We Used to Shoot Looters

Via comment by Anonymous on Civil Unrest Has Begun In Baltimore And This Is On...

 Schmitz

yes indeed, we did.

Now we give them “space.”

The riots, looting, and arson in Baltimore are yet another case of what began as a demonstration against alleged police misconduct but turned into violence. It was not political protest. People who want better treatment from the police don’t set fire to retirement homes, try to break into ATM machines, or burn down drug stores. These things happened in Baltimore because that is what excited blacks do when they gather in the streets in large numbers.

Any gathering of blacks is a potential riot. For three years in a row, from 1990 to 1993, blacks rioted when the Chicago Bulls won the NBA championship. In 1992, they burned 14 buildings, looted countless stores, and injured 95 police officers. In 1993–despite thousands of extra police–they looted dozens of stores, burned scores of cars and killed two people.

It was the same story in Detroit when the Detroit Pistons won the NBA title in 1990: blacks looted, burned police cars, and killed seven people.

BREAKING: FREDDY GRAY HAD SPINE SURGERY JUST ONE WEEK BEFORE ARREST

EXCLUSIVE: The Fourth Estate has learned that Freddy Gray’s life-ending injuries to his spine may have possibly been the result of spinal and neck surgery that he allegedly received a week before he was arrested, not from rough excessively rough treatment or abuse from police.

The Fourth Estate has contacted sources who allege that Freddy Gray received spinal and neck surgery a week before we was arrested, and was allegedly receiving a large structured settlement from Allstate Insurance. The surgery is allegedly related to a car accident in which Gray was involved.

Sources allege that Gray also attempted to refinance his structured settlement into one lump sum payment through Peachtree Funding.

If this is true, then it is possible that Gray’s spinal injury resulting from his encounter with the Baltimore Police was not the result of rough-handling or abuse, but rather a freak accident that occurred when Gray should have been at home resting, not selling drugs.

NC: Sweeping gun law headed for House vote

Rep. Jacqueline Shaffer presents her bill loosening gun restrictions in North Carolina to a House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday morning in Raleigh.

Rep. Jacqueline Shaffer presents her bill loosening gun restrictions in North Carolina to a House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday morning in Raleigh.

Read more here: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/article19798779.html#storylink=cpy
A package of proposals aimed at loosening state and local restrictions on guns is headed for a House vote after winning approval in committee Tuesday.

House Bill 562 would require schools to allow gun owners with concealed weapons permits to bring their guns onto school property as long as they leave the gun locked in their vehicle. It would allow citizens to sue local governments that try to restrict the right to carry concealed weapons.

It also would require property and business owners who don't allow weapons to place a large sign to that effect in a prominent location. A violation of such a notice would no longer be a misdemeanor, just an infraction.

The bill would ban doctors or psychiatrists from asking patients in writing whether they own or have access to guns. They would be banned from passing that information along to anyone, even law enforcement, even if a patient were to express a desire to harm himself or others.

It would exempt shooting ranges from any local noise ordinances passed after they were built. It would also allow hunting with silencers and allow guns at the State Fairgrounds, though not during the State Fair.

The proposal would also shorten the list of misdemeanor crimes for which a person can be turned down for a concealed carry permit and limit those bans to three years, with the exception of domestic violence crimes, which under federal law result in a permanent ban.

It would also allow district attorneys and assistant DAs to carry concealed weapons in the courtroom. It would forbid a county sheriff from asking for more information about a permit application than is allowed under state law, and it would force the sheriff to issue a permit after 90 days, even if he or she has not yet received mental health or other relevant information about the applicant from other agencies or states.

Baltimore riot toll: 200 arrests, 144 car fires, 15 buildings burned

Parts of Baltimore continued to smolder Tuesday after a chaotic night of fires, looting and rioting stemming from the death of a black man who suffered a fatal injury in police custody.

As a brilliantly sunny morning dawned over neighborhoods left in tatters, city workers and citizens began slowly cleaning up the debris — hauling away charred remains of vehicles, sweeping up shattered glass and continuing to put out a massive structure fire that burned through the night in the city’s worst episode of racial violence since 1968.

7th Circuit Court Rules Bans on ‘Assault Weapons’ Can Be Based on Feelings

Via Joe

AR15 Black Rifle Assault Weapon

In a stunning 2-1 decision published today that upheld a City of Highland Park, Illinois ordinance (§136.005 of the City Code) that prohibits the possession of so-called “assault weapons” and “large‐capacity magazines,” Seventh Circuit Cout of Appeals Judge Frank Easterbrook held that
[a]nother constitutional principle is relevant: the Constitution establishes a federal republic where local differences are cherished as elements of liberty, rather than eliminated in a search for national uniformity. McDonald circumscribes the scope of permissible experimentation by state and local governments, but it does not foreclose all possibility of experimentation. Within the limits established by the Justices in Heller and McDonald, federalism and diversity still have a claim. Whether those limits should be extended is in the end a question for the Justices. Given our understanding of existing limits, the judgment [of the trial court, which held that the gun control ordinance was constitutional] is AFFIRMED.
Adding insult to injury, the majority found that “[i]f a ban on semi‐automatic guns and large‐capacity magazines reduces the perceived risk from a mass shooting, and makes the public feel safer as a result, that’s a substantial benefit.”

NC Guns: Do Not Kill H562!

GRNC warned you yesterday that Representative N. Leo Daughtry’s Judiciary I committee would water down H562, and they did (You can read more about H562 below). Now, there's a risk that they may try to send the bill to the Rules Committee to die.

Once again, it appears that some Republicans may have forgotten who gave them the supermajority they currently enjoy. Of course, it’s pro-Second Amendment voters like you who put them where they are, and you did it for a reason. Unfortunately, politicians often have short memories, and it looks like they need another reminder of who sent them to Raleigh.

REP. DAUGHTRY AND OTHERS CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE GUN RIGHTS VOTERS FOR GRANTED!

Don’t allow H562 to be sent to the rules committee to die! Please take a moment to phone and email Speaker Moore and Rep. David Lewis as soon as you see this message and demand that H562 be brought to the house floor for a vote! Below, under “Immediate Action Required,” see how you can quickly and easily send them a strong message.

H 562: “Amend Firearms Laws.” This comprehensive bill would further open up the state fair to concealed handgun permit-holders, remove restrictions from educational properties, permit guns in locked vehicles at places of employment, remove CLEO discretion in signing BATFE paperwork for Title II firearms, authorize hunting with short-barreled rifles, and more.

 IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED!

CNN Anchor Brooke Baldwin Blames Military Veterans for Baltimore Riots

Via Joe

***UPDATE: Via Twitter, Baldwin is bizarrely attempting to deflect blame away from herself.  I say bizarre because most of us first hear things from others. We then go through the grown-up process of filtering out anti-science smears. Baldwin chose to repeat this one:

After more than a year of CNN pouring gasoline all over America with hysterical, and oftentimes phony, stories of American racism, the left-wing network’s afternoon anchor Brooke Baldwin finally took it to the next level by blaming American veterans for the Baltimore riots.

Photo above is the M14 with its Technical Data Package. Shared from Daniel Watters.

Go on to any gun forum, and it won’t take you long to find people willing to tell you how great the M14 is. How accurate, like a laser, tough as tool steel with no need to baby it or clean it. Powerful as a bolt of lightening, and  how well loved it was by those early users who refused the M16 because they wanted a “real” weapon made of wood and steel….

..     But, is all that really true?  Maybe it is a triumph of nostalgia over common sense and reality.   One truth is, it was never really liked as much as people think they remember.

Chinese State Media Wants All US Citizens Disarmed

Via Joe

2nd Amendment

Apparently, people who live in human rights violation houses can throw stones! The Chinese State Media issued some demands this week, and it has Americans scratching their heads.

“The Chinese state-controlled media’s statement, titled “Innocent Blood Demands No Delay for US Gun Control,” is primarily focused on the Newtown tragedy in which 26 Americans were killed by a mad gunman. Twenty of the victims were young children.

The Chinese government stated, “Their blood and tears demand no delay for the U.S. gun control.”

In an apparent effort to restrict information to their populace, the Chinese government wrote of a number of US mass shootings but failed to mention they were either stopped by a citizen legally carrying a firearm or otherwise only occurred in the controversial gun-free zones that critics say make prime targets for madmen.

CNN’s Marc Lamont Hill on Baltimore: ‘This Is Not a Riot’ But ‘Uprisings’ Against ‘Police Terrorism’

Via Joe

During CNN’s live coverage on Monday night of the Baltimore riots, CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill urged viewers to view what was taking place as “not a riot” but “uprisings” in response to African-Americans “dying in the streets for months, years, decades, centuries” due to “police terrorism.”

When brought into the discussion by CNN Tonight host Don Lemon, Hill declared that “there shouldn’t be calm tonight” in Baltimore since there’s been “black people...dying in the streets for months, years, decades, centuries” and endorsed the need for “resistance to oppression and when resistance occurs, you can't circumscribe resistance.”

Baltimore Community Center Burned

Via Mike

Of course, it’s not news when thugs burn down a building after looting liberating its contents. But this statement by a spokesman for the organization that built the community center is VERY newsworthy. Here’s my transcript (which is strangely missing from the media’s reports):

“My heart is obviously broken because somebody did not understand that we were for the community, someone didn’t understand that we were working on behalf of the community, to invest when nobody else would. We wanted not to see gentrification or further injustice, but we wanted to see this community rebuilt for the existing residents of Broadway and East Baltimore.”

When the spokesman denounces “gentrification,” he’s talking about the influx of whites into what was once a predominantly black community. Few things rile the left like gentrification (see here and here.)

Baltimore Sun Reporter Saved From Mob By Store Owner Armed With Shotgun

On April 27, Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton was saved from a mob of rioters by a Baltimore business owner armed with a shotgun.

According to CNN, Fenton was on the streets of Baltimore and ran toward a location where an officer was reported to be injured by the rioters. He said, “I ran down and got in the middle of everything.”

Fenton said he was “inside of the area [of] Pennsylvania Avenue and North Avenue where a lot of [things were] taking place.” He was near a “cash checking place [that] had been broken into” and he was being protected by “a group of self-identifying Crips gang members.” But he turned away from them to take a photo, at which point he was approached by “a man with a hoodie pulled tight over his face.”

Iran Intercepts Cargo Ship, US Moves to Respond

Via Billy

Iranian vessels fired upon a cargo ship flagged to the Marshall Islands Tuesday morning, forcing the ship to travel deeper into Iranian waters — and setting off another round of tensions between Iran and the US.

Col. Steven Warren, Pentagon spokesman, confirmed that Iranian patrol vessels intercepted the shipping vessel Maersk Tigris around 5 a.m. Washington time. At that time, the vessels ordered the ship to travel deeper into Iranian waters. It is not clear if the Maersk had inadvertently traveled into Iranian territory.

NC: House Judiciary III Committee to Hear Bill That Violates Due Process This Week

Via Steven

The House Judiciary III Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, April 29, at 12:30pm, and the calendar includes an anti-gun bill that needs to be defeated.  House Bill 801, if enacted, would go beyond current law in requiring anyone with a Civil No-Contact Order filed against them to surrender their firearms for the duration of the order, and prohibit them from even touching any firearms or ammunition. Civil No-Contact Orders may be filed by virtually anyone, not only those in a domestic relationship.

Civil Unrest Has Begun In Baltimore And This Is Only Just The Start Of Something Much Bigger

Via Joe

On Saturday night, the city of Baltimore resembled a warzone as protests over the death of Freddie Gray turned wildly violent.  One eyewitness reported watching the streets around him and his friend “turn into madness” as they left a baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles.  Car windows were smashed, stores were robbed, chairs were thrown and large numbers of random bystanders were attacked.

One prominent Democrat claims that those committing the violence were “mainly from out of town“, but how would he know that?  Today, there are approximately 2.7 million people living in the Baltimore metropolitan area.  It is an area that has been known for poverty, crime and drugs for many years, and as racial tensions continue to increase in this country it is a powder keg that could erupt at literally any time.  We got a preview of what can happen on Saturday night.  If this is how people will act while economic conditions are still relatively stable in this country, what in the world is going to happen when things really start falling apart?
