A weekly call to prayer for Muslims will be heard at Duke University starting Friday, school officials said.

Members of the Duke Muslim Students Association will chant the call, known as adhan or azan, from the Duke Chapel bell tower each Friday at 1 p.m. The call to prayer will last about three minutes and be “moderately amplified,” officials said in a statement Tuesday.

terrordome vilsack agriculture tank press conference

It’s a morning Kenneth Wright will never forget: 15 armed agents break in his front door and grab him by the neck, still in the boxer shorts he slept in. For six hours, a handcuffed Wright sat in a cruiser parked outside with his three children, ages 3, 7, and 11, while agents searched his house.

“They put me in handcuffs in that hot patrol car for six hours, traumatizing my kids,” the Stockton, Calif., resident told a local news outlet at the time.

Drugs? Weapons? Domestic violence? No. As Wright later found out, his gun-toting visitors were from the Department of Education’s Office of Inspector General (OIG). What the neighbors mistook as a S.W.A.T. team raid was really the execution of a search warrant in a student loan fraud case involving Wright’s wife, who wasn’t even there at the time.

“They busted down my door for this,” he exclaimed, “it wasn’t even me.”

Cops: Man who shot self during robbery asks deputy for help

Authorities say a man who shot himself while robbing an Aiken hotel was taken into custody after he flagged down a deputy for help a few minutes later.

Aiken County deputies said in a news release that 27-year-old David Dempsey shot himself in the leg after pointing a gun at a clerk at the Quality Inn around 10:30 p.m. Friday and demanding money.

Investigators say officers were at the hotel when Dempsey stopped a deputy and asked for help for his gunshot. Authorities say the deputy realized Dempsey and the others in the car matched the description of the robbers from the hotel and arrested them.

Braindead: Company to Sell Fake, Decoy Guns to People Who Want to Appear to Be Armed, but Not Own Firearms

 fake_guns

It appears that a new company is set to begin selling fake guns/holsters to people who want to appear to be armed but don’t want to go through the actual hassle of owning and training with a firearm.

Because we all know that you just strap a firearm to your body and all trouble will magically leave you alone forever (please not heavy sarcasm in that sentence).

Here is the sales pitch from the company’s website:

PCD was founded in 2014 by a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served multiple combat tours to Iraq, and other places throughout the world. Based in Virginia Beach, VA, the sole purpose of these devices is to bridge the gap between hardcore everyday gun toting enthusiasts and those who are less willing to have a firearm in their home.

The Empathy Epidemic

Via Sioux

 http://www.empathybelly.org/teen200.jpg

One of the most overused and abused terms is “empathy.” It has reached epidemic levels and is killing us.

As is true of many aspects of modern politics the problem started with Bill Clinton.  In his 1992 campaign statement he emoted, “I feel your pain,” and since then the expectation that leaders must show empathy has metastasized.

Hillary Clinton recently told us we must “empathize” with America’s enemies --“empathize with their perspective and point of view.”  Barack Obama told us he would choose judges based on their “empathy” -- a requirement found nowhere in our laws nor one that merits respect among legal scholars.

We must empathize, in particular, with the poor and oppressed.

John Kerry said the “root cause of terrorism is poverty” -- as have Bill and Hillary Clinton.  Americans are to consider terrorists victims of poverty.   They have absolved Islam of playing any role in the rise of terrorism around the world.   Instead, we are told the problem is not extremist Islam but rampant Islamophobia in America.

The protests and riots that followed the Trayvon Martin, Ferguson, and Eric Garner controversies have been chalked up to the effects of poverty and racism that Barack Obama informs us is “deeply rooted in our society” (he would be more truthful had he said racism is deeply rooted in his society since Al Sharpton, Eric Holder and Reverend Wright are among his circle of friends).   New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio stokes the rage by telling us how he has had to warn his own black son how dangerous it is to be black around policemen.  We are called upon to empathize with the rioters and understand their rage.

Gone viral: Black woman spits in white peoples' food at McDonalds

Via Nancy

The Twitter account of a black woman who claimed to punish white people by spitting in their food has disappeared.

A screen capture image of a from the now-defunct account has gone viral on Facebook, even though it's dated in June, 2014.

The woman said she is a McDonalds employee and made it a point to spit in the food of every white person the entire day.

Assuming she is being honest about her actions, it validates my contention that we act out what we believe. If we believe nonsense, we will behave accordingly.

Virginia School Board Threatens Home Schooling Parents With Imprisonment

Via WiscoDave

Doug and Carla Pruiett

Does a school board have the right to bring teens before them to prove their religious exemption for home schooling is justified and do they have the right to follow it up with imprisonment of the parents if they don’t comply?

This is happening in the United States.

Goochland County, Virginia School Board is demanding parents and their children justify their religious beliefs under interrogation. The Board changed their policy and now, once a child is 14 or older, the child has to state whether their beliefs are in accord with their parents’ beliefs. They are then to be brought before the board for interrogation so the board can determine if their beliefs are bona fide.

This is a school government daring to tell parents and their children if their beliefs are acceptable.

If the board doesn’t think the child has the beliefs of the parents, the exemption is withdrawn.
If parents don’t comply, they will be forwarded for criminal prosecution. There is also a fine.

George Wallace, Jr.: ‘Selma’ movie’s portrayal of my father is pure, unadulterated fiction

Via Billy

Alabama Gov. George Wallace running for president in 1968

I realize more than anyone the legacy of my father and the feelings he engendered in so many for so long and how he still does today.

There was a time in his life when he supported segregation because as he said, “We were taught as children that a segregated society was best for both races, and anything other than that would bring about adverse relations between the races.” He believed that then, as did most southerners, and his acceptance of segregation was with no sense of ill feeling, malice, or hate toward black people.

His conscience eventually led him to believe that the South’s commonly held views on segregation were wrong, and he publicly renounced them. He even visited the Dexter Avenue Baptist church, where Martin Luther King once pastored, and asked the congregation for its forgiveness. I believe my father’s journey toward redemption helped lead the South and, indeed, much of the rest of the nation, along the path to reconciliation.

It is important to note that while support for segregation was part of his early life and career, he never advocated violence. He was defiant, charismatic, and energetic in his battle against what he saw as a threat from the central government to seek and control every aspect of our lives, but he was never violent.

Man Awakens After 12 Years in a “Vegetative State,” Says “I Was Aware of Everything”

Via Sioux

 MartinPistorius

In the 1980’s, 12-year-old Martin Pistorious became seriously ill with what doctor’s believed was Cryptococci Meningitis. His health started deteriorating and Martin lost his ability to move, make eye contact and even speak to others. His doctors told his parents, Rodney and Joan Pistorious, to bring him home and let him die. They told them he was as good as a vegetable.

However, he didn’t die.

Joan said, “Martin just kept going, just kept going.”

According to NPR news, his father would get up at 5 o’clock in the morning, get him dressed, load him in the car, take him to the special care center where he’d leave him. Rodney said, “Eight hours later, I’d pick him up, bathe him, feed him, put him in bed, set my alarm for two hours so that I’d wake up to turn him so that he didn’t get bedsores.”

For twelve years, Martin’s family cared for him without any sign that he was improving. Joan started to despair and even told her son, “I hope you die.”

Today she acknowledges that was a horrible thing to say but says she just wanted some sort of relief. Remarkably, now Martin is 39-years-old and says he was totally aware of everything going on around him.

Those anti-semitic Israelis

Via comment by Sioux on "So the cops realized that he was praying and gett...

 http://www.dw.de/image/0,,16132765_303,00.jpg

Is it not remarkable how, when the Israeli Prime Minister said Jews living in Europe should move to Israel, he was not attacked as being anti-semitic in the way everyone else who wishes the Jews well and advises precisely the same thing is?

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has invited Jews from France and the rest of Europe to immigrate to the state of Israel, referring to what he sees as a “rising tide of anti-Semitism” there. The statement comes in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attacks.
“To all the Jews of France, all the Jews of Europe, I would like to say that Israel is not just the place in whose direction you pray, the state of Israel is your home,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a televised statement on Saturday, referencing the Jewish tradition of facing Jerusalem when praying.

Netanyahu called on lawmakers to alter the existing immigration laws to make it easier for Jews to permanently move to Israel.
So, what do we conclude from this, that Benjamin Netanyahu hates the Jews? I note that absolutely none of my previous critics have remarked upon the fact that I was absolutely correct to have warned the Jews of the changing mood in Europe, and to have urged them leave Europe and emigrate to their homeland. Had the Jews in Paris done so sooner, they would not have been murdered by Muslims as they were in Granada and eventually in every Muslim-controlled city in Spain and the Maghreb.

Reports from the period describe that, after an initial 7-month grace period, the Almohads killed or forcefully converted Jewish communities in each new city they conquered until "there was no Jew left from Silves to Mahdia"

Mass Armed Robbery By The NYPD **ADMITTED**

If I stick a gun in your face and say "Hand over $243", what is that?

The premise of so-called "law enforcement" is that the "low-level" offenses enforced (e.g. an open container of beer, etc) are about enhancing public safety.  That is, the way this is sold to you is that enforcing these laws increases public order and, as part and parcel of that, deters crime.

Ok, fine.

If that's true.

What happens when the police admit in public that it is about no such thing -- that is simply about taking money?
“Everyone here is under orders — no time off” during the summons catch-up blitz, said one cop at the 105th Precinct in Queens.
“And the majority of [new] summonses written aren’t protecting the public in any way.
“But now they’re realizing how much revenue the city is losing and they’re enforcing their will upon us,” he said.
