The man police say held a family hostage at gunpoint for five hours and raped a teenage girl is in jail after five days on the run.

Tarrant Police Chief Dennis Reno is sounding off. He's angry because the suspect is a repeat offender who he says should not have been a free man.

21-year-old Montavious Banks was considered armed and dangerous by police and a known gang member.

Last week, a sketch was released of Montavious Banks, who also used the last name Burrows, after he allegedly committed an armed home invasion and rape in Tarrant.

"We've been after this suspect since last Thursday on a home invasion we had here,“ said Chief Reno. “Where he raped an 18-year-old female and held the rest of the family hostage."

Chief Reno says Banks was wanted on 13 felony warrants on charges of rape, sodomy, robbery and kidnapping.
