Third National Returns to Danville ... in a BIG Way

On Saturday, at 1:00 p.m., a crowd of 200 gathered at the foot of the Robertson bridge in Danville, on land recently purchased just for the purpose of erecting a Confederate memorial, to raise the THIRD Memorial Battle Flag erected in Danville since City Council voted to remove the Third National Flag from the Confederate Memorial on the grounds of the Sutherlin Mansion, the Last Capitol of the Confederacy.

  1. In my opinion, the proper flag for public display should be the Confederate Third National "Bloodstained Banner", and not the Confederate Navy Jack or the Confederate Battle Flag.

I also think the Bonny Blue Flag is more appropriate than the Confederate Navy Jack for public display.

  2. On my pickup truck, I have the Confederate Navy Jack flying above the cab from the passenger window, plus, a Confederate Navy Jack as a front license plate (Mississippi only requires one license plate, so the front is available for displaying something else), and a magnetic Confederate Navy Jack on the tailgate.

But, I had no choice in the matter, because nobody sells variations of the Confederate flag designed specifically for display on vehicles.

Also, I won't put decals or stickers on my pickup truck, but prefer to use only magnetic items for display.

I love having the flag flying above the cab, but caveat emptor, for I have purchased vehicle flags that were manufactured incorrectly, i.e., they lean inward over the cab roof, when the look much better if they're mounted so that they lean outward from above the cab roof.

  3. The reason I prefer the Confederate Third National "Bloodstained Banner" is because the government of the Confederate States of America never formally surrendered, but merely dissolved in the face of defeat.

Thus, IF the government of the Confederate States of America were ever restored, then the flag of that restored government would probably and properly be the Confederate Third National "Bloodstained Banner".

I like the Bonny Blue Flag because of its history of other rebellions which predate the War for Southern Independence.

    1. Agreed and thanks. Hope all is well out there. You ought to come to a PATCON sometime.
