The Army is nearly 14% short of the recruits it will need to fill its ranks, marking the first time in six years — and only the third in the last 20 — that it may fall short of its recruiting goal for the year.
The Army's top officer for recruiting, Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Snow, acknowledged in an interview with USA TODAY on Thursday the difficulties in attracting young men and women to the active-duty Army in an improving economy and the greater effort his recruiters are taking to find new soldiers.
"It is a challenging mission, and we're not going to get around that," Snow said. "And there are indications that the economy is going to continue to improve. "

An improving economy? What is he smoking? I'm calling the General a liar. The real reason as the why is that your average just out of high school potential recruit is not qualified to in the military. He is not smart/educated enough, is not physically fit enough or healthy enough, or has a criminal record. The Army has admitted this in the past. There is a limit as too how low you can change the standards and still have a standard.
ReplyDeleteIf you can not find enough qualified males, then you lower the standards, and under the heading of "equal opportunity" or "diversity" you push for more women into areas that were once male only (aka combat roles). It looks so very good on paper, if you are a careerist officer wanting to make rank. Everyone will want to pretend that a woman can be just as effective a combat soldier as a man. BS! Yeah sure, a woman who is 5'6 and weighs maybe 120 pounds can be just good as a combat soldier as a guy who is 6' and weighs 210 pounds. And both will just as effective job wise after humping a 50 ruck 10 klicks.
Maj. Gen Snow is being a politically correct liar. Were he to tell the true today, before the end of next week, he would have been forced to "retire" by TPTB.
Remember this always: the FUSA and its' culture has gone insane and will punish anyone who tells the truth.

True Brock! A text book perfect example of the insanity of political correctness: to reject a well qualified young man, wants to join your organization for the sole reason of a tattoo. This being enforced by those who have no understanding or common sense. Things have gotten so bad that there is under consideration, of letting ILLEGAL ALIENS enlist! Yeah, let's let those who have broken Federal Law by entering this country illegally, and whom we know nothing about their past background, criminal record if any (but most likely has committing multiple crimes in native country), drug use or drug gang affiliation, education level, or actually desire to assimilate into a new country and culture. Yeah let's have those people serve in the military. What could possibly go wrong? (sarcasm) .
