Single-serving burn gel

I’m a big fan of the Water Jel burn relief product. This stuff is the most awesome thing in the world for taking the pain out burns. Years ago I made the mistake of picking up a lawnmower by the exhaust manifold. Ow. I literally could not sleep unless my hand was clutching a bag full of ice cubes, the pain and ache was that strong. Nowadays, I slap some of this stuff on it and -presto- the pain goes away. Nothing magical, its just a topical anesthetic, but when you burn yourself, especially on parts of the body that really make you feel it…like fingertips…the stuff is a wonder.

  1. CELOX is WAY WAY WAY! better than Quick Clot, and can serve as a very effective burn dressing.(MUCH better than Burn Jel) That First Aid kit is ten years obsolete. Quick Clot burns the wound closed and must be removed by surgery in a hospital debridement within 24 hours of administration. It is also VERY painful and can cause severe burns to the medic as well as the patient . CELOX controls bleeding as well or better than QC can serve as a highly effective burn dressing (its an impregnated fabric) , is painless , does no harm to the wound, and can be removed in the field for emergency dressing changes (let me say this one more time you MUST remove Quick Clot by surgery within 24 Hr.) CELOX is now the ONLY clotting agent carried by the US Navy Corpmen , US Navy SEALS, USMC and USAF. The Army still has some QC products left in the inventory , but are in the "phase out" process. Quick Clot is the worst clotting agent a militiaman can carry circa 2015. Its Obsolete. ---Ray

  2. Yep. QuikClot and Waterjel are mandatory items for your Oh_Sh*t_Kit. In particluar, I'm thinking about how painful flash-burns from grenades, mortar shells, and various other chemical conflagrations are. I've seen the results, and there's really no words to describe it.

I've been using Waterjel for about 7 years now, and it is absolutely the best burn dressing jel you can have on hand. Period. It relieves the pain. Quickly. And while it's not an antibiotic, it seems to substantially reduce the chance of infection, too. Also, it seems to minimize scaring. One example: I got a pretty sizable 2nd degree burn on my arm while reloading the wood-fired furnace. With Waterjel, I barely noticed the pain; it healed faster; and there was no infection.

Good news is that both WaterJel and QuikClot have a pretty long shelf life... just 'Store in a Cool, Dry place'.
