ISIS Inspired plot to attack U.S. Capitol foiled, one in custody

Via Cousin John

U.S. officials have arrested an Ohio man in connection with a plan to attack the Capitol building in Washington, D.C, CBS News confirms.

Christopher Lee Cornell -- also known as Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah -- was arrested by the FBI for the attempted killing of a U.S. government officer and for possession of a firearm in furtherance of attempted crime of violence.

The apparently ISIS-inspired plot, which included guns and bombs, was stopped very early in its formation. In the wake of the terror attack against a satirical newspaper in Paris, the U.S. has reaffirmed its commitment to preventing individuals from being radicalized by extremist groups like ISIS.

  2. Isn't it just so convenient how "stupid" all those that they "catch" are. And how the timing of this information just happens to hit after we have been "warned" about there being "cells" in the US even though he was arrested months ago..

Just a coincidence though I'm sure. Nothing to see here, move along.

It's so obvious as to be absolutely ridiculous. They truly do believe we are stupid, no doubt. Sometimes it's hard not to agree with them about the majority of people these days.

The average person has a better chance at being struck by lightening than being killed by a terrorist in the US. I'm more than happy to be totally responsible for mine an my family's security against terrorist. No government help needed or wanted.

Very willing to take my chances with those odds.

  3. he was arrested months ago..

All these busts have been set up as I remember, but it appears he was arrested yesterday or today, though you would think that if so, 'Then, around Tuesday or Wednesday' would have been written 'yesterday or today'.

Then, around Tuesday or Wednesday, Cornell and the informant took the final steps to travel to Washington. Cornell also this week purchased a semi-automatic rifle and around 600 rounds of ammunition to allegedly carry out his plan. Cornell was then arrested, and law enforcement took possession of the firearm.

  4. I stand corrected.

The articles I read stated that Cornell made the comments to an informant back in November and left the assumption that was when everything else also transpired.

Where did you source your info, I haven't been able to locate it.

Thanks for correcting me but I still stand on my points of convenience and also how they seem to so easily be able to "develop" these guys and place them in the situations they want them to be in. Then they release it to the press at the most opportune times. Propaganda and psyops

      Agreed.

  5. Yep. Every one of these terrorists who is caught before they can attack, seems to have an FBI agent helping them prepare and encouraging them to "do it".

makes me wonder if they would have ever been a threat if the FBI were not involved.
