Cop says showing kindness to a shoplifter was 'the right thing to do'

Officer Stacy hands the woman some eggs and gets a hug.

It is not unusual for cops to get a call about shoplifters during the holidays.

"Usually it's candy. Usually they have enough money in their pocket to pay for it," Tarrant police officer William Stacy said.

On Saturday, someone tried to steal eggs from the Dollar General on Pinson Valley Parkway. But  Stacy said this call was different. He said the suspect told him, "I shouldn't have done that but my babies need food." Officer Stacy had met the woman before so he was somewhat familiar with her situation.

"You can't let kids go hungry. I ran inside bought the eggs for her and walked out and handed her the eggs," Stacy said. "She tried to give me all the money she had on her which was $1.25. I told her to keep it. I don't want it. The way she can repay me is to never do this [shoplift] again."

Stacy gave her a hug and left but what he didn't know was that another customer, Robert Tripp, recorded the exchange.

The Biggest Threat to North Korea Might Be Dessert

chocopie

This past summer, some 200 South Korean activists and North Korean defectors launched 50 balloons into North Korea. The purpose? To deliver 10,000 Choco Pies—a cake and marshmallow combination coated in chocolate (think Moon Pie)—to the citizens of North Korea.

2014 Mechanicsville Rotary/Ruritan Christmas Parade

A slight chill, but a beautiful, sunny day yesterday greeted those who came out for the Mechanicsville Rotary/Ruritan Christmas Parade yesterday.

The Va Flaggers joined a large Confederate contingency that included the Capt. Sally Tompkins Chapter #2, Order of the Confederate Rose, Captain Wm Latane Camp #1690 SCV, Virginia Division United Daughters of the Confederacy, Edmund Ruffin FireEaters Camp #3000 SCV, Hanover Dragoons Camp #827 SCV, and the General W. C. Wickham Camp #2250, SCV.  Before the parade stepped off, we gathered as many as possible for a group photo.

Sherman’s War Against Civilians

It was North Carolina Governor Zeb Vance’s opinion that Sherman “was a despoiler when there was no need to despoil and one who came very close to being a monster.” Lincoln had unleashed a conqueror and scourge upon Americans in the South; Davis and Lee remained firm in their belief that war should be confined to hostile armies fighting to a conclusion, and not waged upon defenseless civilians.
Bernhard Thuersam, Circa1865

Sherman’s War Against Civilians

“Vance’s ideas of warfare were obtained from his earlier reading of Chancellor [James] Kent, one of the idols of his erudite Professor [David] Swain at Chapel Hill. In dealing with Sherman and Lee, he cited Kent’s commentary on plunder and depredations on private property. Kent said such conduct had been condemned by the wise and virtuous of all ages and usually was severely punished by “commanders of disciplined troops who had studied war as a science, and are animated by a sense of duty or love of fame.”

Kent said, as Vance cited him, that when a commander went beyond these limits wantonly, and seized private property or destroyed dwellings or public buildings for civil use, when it was not clearly indispensible for the purposes of war, he was sure “to be held up to the general scorn and detestation of the world.”

Vance mentioned also that Kent was studied by Sherman at West Point. He cited Major-General Henry W. Halleck in similar vein on the usage respecting private property, and brought out much evidence, like a lawyer presenting his case, capping it with similar or more severe quotations from the code prepared by the government to control the armies of the United States.

The propriety of Sherman’s military methods will always be debated, as will be, perhaps, the question of their efficacy in the broad picture of war. They kept alive pockets of bitterness in three States for more than a century. If they hastened the end of active war, they delayed the return of true cordiality. The British Field Marshall Montgomery of World War II appeared to doubt their military value when he compared Sherman’s activities to Sir Redvers Henry Bullers, commander of the British forces in South Africa, in burning the homes of the Boers, for which the Boer women, left homeless, never forgave the British.

Sherman probably could have won his campaign as easily by fighting the weakened Confederate armies without wanton devastation of the country, or, as Vance charged, the slaughter of animals unneeded for food, and without making his name perhaps permanently abhorred, especially by the women in a large area of the country, as Buller’s was with the Boers.”

Yankee Prison Life

 http://www.classroomelectric.org/volume2/gruesz/scene.jpg

Northern prisoners were issued the same meager rations as their guards, and received the same medicines available to the common Southern soldier. Of the over twelve-thousand Southerners imprisoned at Elmira, The Death Camp Of The North (My Great Uncle) during its one year existence, nearly three-thousand died, or about one-quarter -- a higher monthly mortality than Andersonville.  This amid the plentiful harvests and food supply of the surrounding countryside of New York and Pennsylvania.

Yankee Prison Life

“March 7 to 12, 1865 – A number of prisoners, mainly from the privates’ pen, have signified a willingness to take the hated oath of allegiance, and are now kept in a separate barracks, clothed in blue suits and given better rations. They are called “galvanized” men, and sometimes “Company Q.”  These weak and cowardly men are willing to betray their own country and people, and swear to support a government which they can but detest.

Such men could not have been of any real value to the South, but rather skulking nuisances, and they are to be pitied as well as despised. They are either ignorant and deluded, or actuated by self-interest or want of principle.  They regard their personal comfort and safety more than the good of their relatives and friends and their native land.

We have to wash or hands, faces and feet in the sluggish ditch-water which runs through the campus . . . The water is brackish and covered with green scum.  The dirty off-scouring from each man flows to his neighbor, and is used again. Some throw back the water with their hands and seek a cleaner supply.  The whole scene is sickening.

Want of proper medicine and attention, combined with boiled fresh beef and thin, watery soup, keep many ill with constant diarrhea.  Fresh boiled beef, without vegetables, seems to cause and aggravate the very prevalent disease.  The Yankee surgeons know it, but order no change of diet. Such meanness is despicable in its littleness and barbarity.

It is known that [the prison commander has] spies among the prisoners, who mingle freely with them, seek their confidence and then basely betray them.”

Gangs of New York: Post-Garner NYPD on Watch for Militant Blacks ‘Preparing to Shoot On-Duty Police Officers’

 nypd-gangs

While outrage continues to brew over the non-indictment of the officer that choked Eric Garner to death for selling “loose” untaxed cigarettes on the streets of New York, the NYPD is digging in, as the above New York Daily News image suggests.

Amid anti-police sentiments, the NYPD has claimed that members of the “Black Guerilla Family” are threatening to shoot on-duty police officers in New York. The group is known as an “ideological African-American Marxist revolutionary organization composed of prisoners” set up in the sixties, with inspiration from black leaders including Marcus Garvey.

The New York Daily News carried the exclusive, and included a photo of document with the typed warning:

America: BUYcott this Bosnian-owned business: Gina Loudon urges citizens to help restaurant terrorized by black youth

Bosna Gold restaurant owner Almir Nesimovic

This week, I was tipped by a reader that there was some Ku Klux Klan activity being exacted on black business owners in a Midwestern town. As I traveled across the Midwest between book signings, I went to the town, to the businesses, and could hardly believe what I witnessed.

The crimes and harassment were not only going unreported, but unpunished.

We don’t always know whether anecdotal accounts are actually rooted in racism, until we see patterns. That becomes especially true when you witness it with your own eyes.

I spent a day in a town where most of the residents are white, and they are so angry at what they are told is oppression, they are intentionally destroying their own town. Prominent leaders of the KKK were instigating whites to riot not just locally, but all over the country. News media would only report the black-on-white crime, but the white-on-black crime was swept beneath the rug.

I spent more time going from black business to black business. They told me how young, white males are preying on their customers day after day. One black business owner said white kids as young as 10 years old were loitering and yelling at his customers as they walked in his restaurant. The white youth yelled, “Go back to where you came from!” and “Leave, or we will kill all of you!

Street Legal Short Barreled Shotgun No NFA or AOW

Last week, we opined about the ATF’s ruling on a certain shotgun being used with a SIG brace. The ATF, in a letter to Black Aces Tactical, clearly stated that shouldering the SIG brace (the way we all currently use the SIG brace) makes the gun subject to restrictive legislation. Well now we know which shotgun Black Aces was inquiring about. The Black Aces Tactical DT.

To be clear as mud: this isn’t an NFA item. It isn’t an AOW. It is a gun like most other guns, and one that you can buy without meddlesome paperwork or extra fees. We’ll be following this story, so stay tuned. In the meantime, what do you make of it?

Mismanagement allegations at Pearl Harbor memorial

http://images.military.com/media/news/buildings/071012-ussarizona.jpg

The USS Arizona is one of the nation's most hallowed sites, an underwater grave for more than 900 sailors and Marines killed when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and sank their ship in 1941.

Now, it's the scene of alleged rampant mismanagement.

An internal report from the National Park Service, which operates a visitors' center for a memorial at the battleship, said tour companies sold tickets with the knowledge of park officials even though tickets are supposed to be free.

Another pointed to substandard maintenance, including scuffed museum walls that languished unrepaired and bird feces that wasn't cleaned.

M1A Sniper – On the Cheap, or All the Way?

The M1A's most classic scope is the Leatherwood, a copy of which we have recently reviewed. It is a cumbersome scope but really nifty, and not expensive right now.

With Christmas approaching, it is a great time to think about all of those upgrades to your guns you have been thinking about. One I have been considering for some time is putting a scope mount on my M1A, but my assumptions were that it was both expensive and difficult, requiring a gunsmith. Turns out I was wrong on both counts. There are expensive options and inexpensive options for installing a rear scope mount on the M1A, and they work equally as well. I tried both the official Springfield Armory mount, as well as a couple exact copies, as well as a new design from UTG. They all worked, and some better than others.

The Yankee/Marxist Mindset—alive and well among Lincoln’s ( & Obama's) military

Via Billy

How many have followed the news in recent months, noting the contemptuous comments by those in the Obama Regime regarding the average American? Those people look down their long, Marxist noses at us with utter contempt. They have no use whatever for us except to use us as the cash cow to fund their efforts to destroy our faith and culture. They use us to pay for our own destruction. And we are supposed to be too stupid to know what’s going on.

Unfortunately, thanks to what has passed for education in this country in the last 100 years, they are often right. However, after the last six “transparent” years of thinly-disguised fascism/Marxism some people are finally beginning to wake up, much to the chagrin of our current ruling elite. After all, you can only spit in people’s faces for so long while telling them it is dew, before some of them wise up.

Military Times: Military morale suffering due to budget cuts, loss of mission

Via Billy

The Military Times is running a three part series on the state of our military. They've titled it "America's Military: A Force Adrift" and if the first part of the series is any indication, it will prove to be a shocker.

Some of these numbers are alarming:

According to the Military Times survey, active-duty troops reported a stunning drop in how they rated their overall quality of life: Just 56 percent call it good or excellent, down from 91 percent in 2009.

Title 8 USC § 1324 — Bringing in and harboring certain aliens

Do we live in a nation governed by the rule of law? A very important section of the "law" of the United States Code as pertaining to illegal immigration proves that the United States of America is no longer operating under the rule of law, but is subject to the rule of men who are in a state of insurgency against the law of the land.

Whether or not you realized it, America has passed from being a guaranteed Constitutional Republican form of government and is now an oligarchy, the rule of a small group of powerful people who are self-appointedly above the law and have seized immunity from justice.

And We the People allowed it to happen.
