Ocracoke+

Yum.

Take me out to the..........

Ocracoke.

I doubt they'd consider robbing this one.

I'm not familiar with the flowers.....

Some great sayings at the surf shop.

Oh, to be young and not gain an ounce :)

Descended from Spanish Mustangs.

I love topless ones also. :)  My Uncle Charlie did and probably led to his early demise.

Ice cream shop.  Banana is one of their top sellers, but I haven't been able to find it since my youth in Marshall, Virginia where I could eat a half gallon and a package of Oreos at a sitting. :)

Couple of outside, fun restaurants on the water.

I was very tempted, but decided not to since if something went wrong, it would be all over. I really miss lap swimming and Scuba/free diving.

The Kappa Alpha Order UNC Charlotte "Magnolia".

I think we would get along charmingly :)

This was one restaurant's "slaw" and although unusual, was excellent.

The annual Fig Cake Bake-Off .

This boy had a "machine gun with sniper scope" pointing it all around and nobody called the police.  You can just imagine the uproar in a liberal area. :)

Ocracoke's special square dancing.  A good time was had by all until after dark.

The best deal going.  A 2 1/2 hour ferry ride to Cedar Island for $15.

There is an 800% Higher Probably Americans Will be Killed by Police Than by a Terrorist

 NormanRockwell

The Ferguson incident has exposed the underbelly of the United States and now everyone is starting to pay attention that there is a higher risk of being killed by police even when they chase or shoot at people who need not be you. The risk is 800% greater that you will be killed by POLICE rather than a terrorist. The Economist has reported the death by police so far are ZERO in Japan and Britain, 8 in Germany and 409 in America.

Expelling Unworthy Members of the House

http://www.jonchristianryter.com/IMAGE/Vallandigham.jpghttp://www.superbious.com/pictures/abraham-lincoln-facts-79-1-480440.jpg

The Northern Democratic opposition during the war believed that “if the Republicans continued in power they would ultimately destroy every shred of democratic choice and free behavior in the name of their conception of the right.”  Ohio political leader Clement Vallandigham said “nothing but convulsion can come of this despotism,” and if Lincoln were reelected, “our Republican government is gone, gone, gone, and ere it is again revived we must pass through anarchy in its worst form.”

Expelling Unworthy Members of the House

“[Clement Vallandigham of Ohio received support] from leading Democrats of the North, not only in his own State but from such men as Governor Seymour and Samuel J. Tilden of New York. We have referred to the plank of the Democratic platform adopted in 1864, which declared the war a failure, and it must be added that the convention was run, and the platform written and adopted, and the nomination made practically at the order of Vallandigham and his sympathizers.

To these instances must be added sentiments such as were uttered by Alexander Long, the Representative of the Second District of Ohio, in the Thirty-eighth Congress, who boldly defended the cause of the Confederacy as follows:

“I now believe that there are but two alternatives, and they are either an acknowledgement of the independence of the South as an independent nation, or their complete subjugation and extermination as a people; and of these alternatives I prefer the former.”

A resolution was offered for the expulsion of Long, declaring that by his speech he had given “aid, countenance and encouragement to persons engaged in armed hostility to the United States.” The debate upon the resolution was opened by Mr. [James] Garfield of Ohio, then sitting in the House . . . for his first term [and] fresh from the battlefield of Chickamauga . . .

In answering Mr. Garfield, Benjamin G. Harris, of Maryland, said: “The South asks you to leave them in peace, but now you say you will bring them into subjection. That is not done yet, and God Almighty grant it may never be!”

This was followed by the offering of a resolution for the expulsion of Mr. Harris [and he subsequently] was declared to be an unworthy member of the House by a vote of 93 to 18.  Fernando Wood, George H. Pendleton, the candidate for Vice President on the Democratic ticket of 1864, and Samuel J. Randall, afterwards Democratic Speaker of the House, were among those who voted in the negative.  A resolution was also adopted declaring Mr. Long an unworthy member of the House.

[The Thirteenth Amendment prohibiting slavery] had been adopted in the Senate on April 8, 1864, by a vote of 38 to 6. These six votes were cast by the two Democratic Senators from Kentucky, the two from Delaware, and by Mr. McDougall of California, and Mr. Hendricks of Indiana . . . Every Republican [in the House] without exception voted in the affirmative [119 to 56], together with sixteen Democrats.

Among the opposition we find the names of William S. Holman of Indiana, S.S. Cox, Alexander Long, whose treasonable words had been censured, and George H. Pendleton of Ohio, W.R. Morrison of Illinois, Samuel J. Randall of Pennsylvania, and others who afterwards became leaders of the Democratic party.”

HSLDA: What is the status of Common Core in my state?

At its zenith, 45 states, four territories, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense had signed on to at least some aspect of the Common Core State Standards. Thanks to you, that trend is being reversed.

Glenn Beck Ripped Conservatives While Trying to Get CNN Deal

Glenn Beck was bashing Americans opposed to illegal immigration, decrying partisan politics, and positioning himself toward the center just as he was reportedly trying to strike a deal to get his programming on CNN.

CNN's Brian Stelter reported that "the idea fizzled fast and talks aren't expected to resume." CNN and HLN are expected to lay off at least 550 more people in what is being called another "bloodbath," and Beck was reportedly trying to get on the HLN network, where he got his first break in cable television.

Stelter, who is one of the best-sourced reporters in the television industry and made a name for himself out-scooping more established mainstream media reporters, claimed he had no knowledge of the negotiations whatsoever when he unusually gave Beck two Sundays worth of relatively good PR, showcasing Beck's Texas offices and future plans.

IRS Shocker: Filing Reveals Lerner Blackberry Destroyed

 Via avordvet

The IRS filing in federal Judge Emmet Sullivan’s court reveals shocking new information. The IRS destroyed Lerner’s Blackberry AFTER it knew her computer had crashed and after a Congressional inquiry was well underway. As an IRS official declared under the penalty of perjury, the destroyed Blackberry would have contained the same emails (both sent and received) as Lois Lerner’s hard drive.

Ferguson: The War Comes Home: Ron Paul

America's attention recently turned away from the violence in Iraq and Gaza toward the violence in Ferguson, Missouri, following the shooting of Michael Brown. While all the facts surrounding the shooing have yet to come to light, the shock of seeing police using tear gas (a substance banned in warfare), and other military-style weapons against American citizens including journalists exercising their First Amendment rights, has started a much-needed debate on police militarization.

The increasing use of military equipment by local police is a symptom of growing authoritarianism, not the cause. The cause is policies that encourage police to see Americans as enemies to subjugate, rather than as citizens to "protect and serve." This attitude is on display not only in Ferguson, but in the police lockdown following the Boston Marathon bombing and in the Americans killed and injured in "no-knock" raids conducted by militarized SWAT teams.

"The first link is announcing the plan to consolidate all of Alabama’s twelve  law enforcement agencies under an umbrella agency that will be known as ALEA. The second link is the STASI interactive sheet where you can make up stuff and turn your neighbors in for bogus crimes. I can’t wait until the Facebook crowd melts their servers with “made Up” stuff to piss off their boyfriends girlfriend or wives boyfriend homosexual lover, etc. Is it just me or is the patients running the asylum? It probably will not be long until each county has their own DHS  'party official' and counties no longer have sheriff’s or deputies."

School fires hero security guard, 70, 'for being too old' just months after he was knifed in the chest protecting students

Via WiscoDave

John Resetar (pictured) was stabbed in the chest while holding down a teen on a schoolwide slashing spree

A 70-year-old security guard who risked his own life to stop a schoolwide stabbing spree earlier this year, saving the lives of countless students in the process, has been fired by the school district for being too old.

John Resetar, who is employed by Capital Asset Protection Inc., a Pittsburgh-area company contracted to provide security to the Franklin Regional School District, got the shock of his life on August 4 when he found out his job was being terminated and his services were no longer needed this school year.

Resetar got the news in a letter from Jeffrey Dahlke, Capital Asset's regional security operations manager, which read: 'Franklin Regional and Capital came to the conclusion that ... it is best ... to relieve you of your duties at the school.'

Police chief: 1 arrest in West Point, Mississippi fight

Via Nancy

(Facebook)
As usual, numerous blacks assault one white.

The police chief of West Point, in northern Mississippi, said one man was arrested Monday and more arrests are expected in a weekend assault that hospitalized a 32-year-old former Marine.

Courtez McMillian, 22, of Okolona, was jailed pending charges of aggravated assault, Police Chief Tim Brinkley said in a statement. Okolona is about 30 miles north of West Point, where events unfolded outside two restaurants early Saturday. Investigators are reviewing video footage from Saturday and have compiled a list of other possible suspects from a nearby county, Brinkley said.

Ralph Weems IV of West Point remained in fair condition Monday, said Marsha Tapscott, a spokeswoman for North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She said she could not comment on a statement by Weems' brother-in-law, Bradley Barnes of Madison, that Weems had undergone brain surgery.

Islamic State might have taken advanced MANPADS from Syrian airfield

Via Jeffery

Islamic State militants stormed a Syrian airbase over the weekend, routing the remaining elements of the country’s army from northern Raqqah province and reportedly seizing a cache of shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles.

The seizure of Tabqa air base, while not the first installation of its type to fall to militants, highlights the Islamic State’s gains in the region and the group’s continued pilfering of advanced military equipment, particularly the surface-to-air missile systems known as MANPADS, short for Man Portable Air Defense Systems.

Free online intelligence training, IA 101: Introduction to Intelligence Analysis

intel prep of the community

WRSA
VERBATIM

On 02 September, we’ll be publishing our first online intelligence training, IA 101: Introduction to Intelligence Analysis. It’s free for everyone interested in what intelligence has to offer. Each month after that, we’ll be publishing at least one new intelligence course for a very affordable price. We’re teaching real, usable intelligence skills that can be used starting immediately. Intelligence is about reducing uncertainty about threats and about the future, and our aim is to enable Patriots to reduce uncertainty in their own situations.

Would you please help us in promoting it?

Our goal is to teach intelligence skills to as many Patriots and Preppers as possible in our time remaining. We’ll also be doing some live events; webinars with live lectures and Q&A sessions.

Our website is https://culperinstitute.org. We appreciate the support.

These courses are perfect for the older folks who can’t “run and gun”. If they want to be a huge help, then being the intelligence hub will pay great dividends. The only thing better than resupplying a unit with a little food and a few extra rounds is giving them an analysis of threat activity, their strength and disposition, and a targeting package.
