For Sioux's comment on Buddy Guy - Long Way From Home (A Tribute To Stevie Ray Vaughan)

Hang on until the end!

Very similar to the show at the Mosque that I saw, though the crowds were completely different for some reason.  I don't know where this was performed and could find nothing on a search. A phenomenal showman who put every ounce of energy into his shows.

Cops Arrest 76-Year Old Veteran For Town Meeting ‘Outburst’: “I Asked Them To Speak Louder So We Could Hear”

 overholt

Eddie Overholt was attending his second county board meeting last Friday when he was arrested by police for interfering with a public meeting and resisting arrest for the dastardly act of asking county officials to speak up so that the audience could hear the proceedings.

According to 76-year old Overholt and others present at the meeting, the board had assembled around a table at the front of the room. Some city officials were turned with their backs facing the crowd making it difficult to hear what was being said.

Members of the audience began interrupting the proceedings with shouts, laughter, applause and complaints that they couldn’t hear, at which point the mayor warned the next outburst would lead to someone being removed from the building.

At this point Overholt, who had been making his way to the front of the room, addressed the mayor and the board and said, “would y’all speak up so the audience can hear you?”

The mayor subsequently ordered the local police chief to remove him from the building, to which Overholt protested that he was attending a public meeting and needed to hear, not just ‘look’ at what was happening.

In a statement posted to Facebook Overholt explained that, as he was being walked to  jail, the arresting officer added another charge for resisting arrest:

Award Winning Reporter: US has Satellite Images that Show Ukrainian Troops Shoot Down MH17

Some redundant information, but worth reading in full.

Harf's mention of social media posts which show rebels "bragging" about bringing down the airliner is likely a reference to a post on the Russian version of Facebook shortly after MH17 was shot down by Ukrainian rebel commander Igor Strelkov. However, as Max Fisher documents, "There are real reasons to doubt that the message was genuine.

First of all Strelkov's page "is a fake made by fans," according to rebels who spoke to Buzzfeed's Max Seddon, so the words cannot even be attributed to the commander. In addition, the post makes reference to the shoot down not of a civilian airliner but to an Antonov AN-26 military transport plane.

Video of a Buk missile launcher apparently crossing the border back to Russia after the plane was shot down which was cited by Kiev and Washington has also since been debunked. The clip is actually shot in the Ukrainian town of Krasnoarmeisk, which has been controlled by Kiev since May."

“Let Us Alone and Peace Will Come of Itself”

As many as six peace initiatives occurred before and during the war, nearly all emanating from the South and ending in failure due to Northern Republican intransigence. “[Lincoln] offered us nothing but unconditional surrender,” said Vice President Alexander Stephens on his return from the Hampton Roads Peace Conference of 3 February 1865, calling the meeting “fruitless and inadequate.”

“Let Us Alone and Peace Will Come of Itself”

“Lincoln was quietly sponsoring a peace initiative of his own [in July 1864 when he] sent Col. James F. Jaquess, a Methodist minister [of an Illinois Regiment] . . . and [writer] James R. Gilmore . . . on a mission to Richmond.  Gilmore and Jaquess had a political motive to help Lincoln’s faltering bid for reelection.

They wanted to prove that the Confederate’s peace overtures were really concocted to embarrass Lincoln’s government, to throw upon it the odium of continuing the war and thus secure the triumph of the “peace-traitors” in the November election.

With a personal note from Lincoln to General Grant, the two travelers crossed the battles lines at City Point, Virginia and entered Richmond . . . On Sunday evening, July 17, Jaquess and Gilmore encountered President [Jefferson] Davis, “a spare, thin featured man with iron gray hair and beard and a clear gray eye full of life and vigor,” as Gilmore later described him.

“Our people want peace,” Jaquess told Davis. “We have come to ask how it can be brought about.”

In a very simple way,” responded Davis. “Withdraw your armies from our territory, and peace will come of itself. We do not seek to subjugate you. We are not waging an offensive war . . . Let us alone and peace will come at once.”

“But we cannot let you alone as long as you repudiate the Union.  That is one thing the Northern people will not surrender.”

“I know.  You would deny to us the one thing you exact for yourselves – the right of self- government,” Davis retorted. “You have sown so much bitterness at the South, you have put such an ocean of blood between the two sections, that I despair of seeing nay harmony in my time. Our children may forget this war, but we cannot.”

“We are both Christian men,” the minister said, “Can you, as a Christian man, leave untried any means that may lead to peace?”

“No, I cannot,” said Davis. “I desire peace as much as you do. I deplore bloodshed as much as you do; but I feel that no one drop of the blood shed in this war is upon my hands – I can look up to my God and say this.”

“I tried all in my power to avert this war.  I saw it coming, and for twelve years I worked night and day to prevent it but could not. The North was mad and blind; it would not let us govern ourselves, and so the war came . . . It is with your own people you should labor [to end the war]. It is they who desolate our homes, burn our wheat fields, break the wheels of our wagons carrying away our women and children and destroy supplies meant for our sick and wounded. At your door lies all the misery and crime of this war – and it is a fearful, fearful account.”

“And slavery, you say, is no longer an element in the contest?” Gilmore asked.

“No, it is not,” Davis replied. “ . . . You have already emancipated two million of our slaves – and if you will take care of them, you may emancipate the rest . . . you many emancipate every Negro in the Confederacy but we will be free!  We will govern ourselves.  We will do it if we have to see every Southern plantation sacked, and every Southern city in flames.”

As the interview ended, [Davis] said: “Say to Mr. Lincoln from me, that I shall at any time be pleased to receive proposals for peace on the basis of our independence.  It will be useless to approach me with any other.”

Grandmother shoots burglary suspect

 Phyliss Law

A 63-year-old grandmother spoke exclusively to FOX10 News after shooting a suspected burglar in her living room. The terrifying ordeal happened Friday on Thorr Avenue in Prichard.

Phyliss Law says this is the second time she’s been burglarized. She said during the last incident she had jewelry and electronics stolen.

we heard this crackling… Like wood popping and stuff. I said oh my god. He trying to come in. So I backed up to my room and got my gun and got my extra clip,” Law said.

She was hoping the suspect would go away. Instead, Law said he came closer.

“Next thing I know, he hit the lights and put all the lights on and I’m saying to myself, ‘This person been here before to know where all my lights at,’” she said. “This is ridiculous. He just comes strolling walking around. By the time…He was right here I saw the blue jogging basketball pants he was wearing. And when he got there I jumped up and just start shooting. I have no idea where I hit him. He fell right there on the floor there. “

The Grave in the Middle of a Rural Indiana Road

On a rural stretch of County Road 400 in Amity, Indiana, the road splits around a small mound of earth located in the center of the roadway. That mound is the grave of Nancy Kerlin Barnett (1793-1831) and it is in the middle of the road for a most unusual reason. As the 1912 historical marker at the site explains, when the county planned to run a road through the cemetery in which Barnett was laid to rest, her grandson Daniel Doty guarded the plot with a gun until the county relented and built the road around the grave.

US Appeals to "Law of the Jungle" in MH17 Case

More obfuscation from this worthless administration.

After the Russian Federation disclosed to the world satellite imagery, radar information, and abnormalities in Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 flight MH17's flight path, it asked Ukraine and the Western nations backing the regime in Kiev, questions regarding their alleged evidence. To these questions, the West has responded with increasingly suspicious silence and evasion. At one point, US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf, told journalists that the summation of US evidence was "YouTube" videos and other forms of social media - all of which are admittedly unverifiable and some of which is veritably fabricated.

A Military Approach To Survival Security

21 Mar 1973, Saigon, South Vietnam --- Visit with Daddy...A South Vietnamese soldier is visited by his wife and children March 21 while he is on guard duty.

It may seem antiquated, but the primary function of a U.S. Army soldier has not changed since the inception of the Continental Army. A soldier always has, and likely always will be, tasked with performing guard duty in one capacity or another. Perhaps you are wondering what this has to do with survival security. If a method for securing a variety of locations as well as various-sized elements has worked so well for centuries, doesn’t it seem like it would serve a group well during a survival scenario, regardless of the cause?

Obviously, the amount of technology that is currently available could provide a great advantage in securing your stronghold. Things like ground sensors, remotely controlled and monitored security cameras, and automatically triggered obstacles are outstanding tools. But in most cases, they are prohibitively expensive. And they also rely on systems of support like electricity and telecommunications equipment to operate. Because of these requirements, the guard will, for the foreseeable future, remain the foundation of a survival security system, whether it is mobile or stationary.

The High IQ of The Great Society

Maybe Lyndon Johnson really didn’t say what he was famously accused of having said about his welfare programs. I would hope so; given that if he were pursuing a bribes-for-votes strategy, then he has miserably failed. This is what typically happens when a welfare state discovers the fundamental economic paradox. From Wikipedia we can quickly learn that this problem is as follows: The economic problem is most simply explained by the question: “How do we satisfy unlimited wants with limited resources?”

We can further derive the following lemmas. A demand can only be temporarily satisfied and then perpetually reappears unless the people demanding are trained to handle it themselves. A welfare state produces virtually nothing on its own accord to satisfy any demand, so it has to steal someone else’s wealth or property to fulfill any demand. Finally, we can easily observe that people dependent upon a welfare state never develop the desire or the ability to cope with anything they don’t get made to. Literally anything. If you think I’m kidding, watch the YouTube below.

Border Patrol points gun at Boy Scout's head

U.S. Border Patrol agents on the Canada-Alaska border detained a Boy Scout troop for four hours and threatened one boy with a loaded pistol to the head, all because one of the scouts tried to take a picture of the agents.

The incident involving Troop 111 from Iowa occurred over the weekend as the scouts re-entered the U.S. at Alaska after a camping trip to Canada.

Troop Leader Jim Fox told KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa, the boy was threatened with a $10,000 fine and a 10-year prison term for taking pictures of a border-entry point, the accuracy of which many experts say is dubious, at best.

Triumphs Of Marketing – The French Resistance

Via Oleg Volk

Sur Le Pont D'Avignon La Plume De Ma Tante Dans Le Jardin Silver Plate

Dated.

It’s fair to say that the Second World War wasn’t very kind to France; Invaded by the Germans, abandoned by the British, half of the country occupied and forced to pay for the privilege, most of the army locked away in POW camps, and a national shortage of pain au chocolat – and that’s just the first 12 months!

It then got even worse.

The British, who had run away at Dunkirk sneaked back and destroyed the French fleet at Mers al Kibir, and then for good measure occupied French Palestine. A couple of years later the Japanese stroll unopposed into French Indo-China, the British take Madagascar, the Americans invade French North Africa, the Germans occupy the rest of mainland France and the Italians take over Corsica.

By the spring of 1944 it would be fair to say that France had been comprehensively beaten, betrayed or abused by just about everyone. And to be a Frenchman was like saying that you were a cheese-eating surrender-monkey, except that most of the cheese was now getting shipped to Germany.

But wait! The flame of honour still flickers in the hearts of all true Frenchmen, for France will be great once more due to the heroism and bravery of the arme̩ secre̩ Рbetter known as the French Resistance who will sweep the invader out of La Belle France and return the country to its rightful place once more at the head of all nations?

– Yeah, right!

2008 Comes Again?

Via avordvet

In early 2008 I noted a fairly serious decrease in online "revenue per impression" in the advertising space.  This was not reflected in so-called "official" reports from various online ad firms, but I saw it quite-clearly across data I had available to me.

What followed, of course, was quite clear in the markets....

I am seeing the same pattern develop now.

Muslims in Miami Scream: 'We Are Hamas'

For all the Baby Boomers out in media land, could there be a jingle more annoying than Wendy’s, octogenarian with her nails-scratching-on-the-chalkboard, “WHERE’S THE BEEF?” Well, lately if you have been anywhere near a street corner in a major city or close to an electronic device that emits  sounds, then undoubtedly you have heard the battle jingle of the “Arab Street” along with their pseudo-Marxist trust fund baby comrades, together spewing, “From-the-River-to-the-Sea, Palestine-will-be-Free.” Though this little ditty has a melodic tone and maybe a good hip-hop rapper can make it jump, the curious among you may want to ask, “Hey, what does that river-to-the-sea business actually mean?”

That question can be answered quite eloquently by way of a detailed historical analysis going back to the Founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan Al-Banna where in his writings, he desires to mobilize Muslims to recapture of glorious supremacy of the “Arabian Nights” crushing the infidel and raising a  scimitar in victorious praise of Allah the majestic!

Kerry Makes Yet Another Dangerous Rush to Judgment

Kerry Wall Blood

Here we go again with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry leveraging a tragedy to make another "strong case" based on limited evidence. We have already seen this in the case of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and chemical weapons. Now it's Russian President Vladimir Putin's turn for the global smear treatment.

Presumably we're supposed to rush to adopt the notion that Russia's fingerprints are all over last week's downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 over Ukraine -- just as we were supposed to buy into Kerry's story last year about the Assad regime's use of chemical weapons against his own people. That rhetoric almost ended up serving as a pretext for U.S. military action, and it would have if Putin hadn't stepped in and offered to babysit Assad and oversee the removal of potential chemical threats.

The parallels in Kerry's rhetoric on Ukraine and Syria are remarkable. In the wake of last August's chemical weapons attack in Syria, Kerry said Assad's responsibility was "undeniable" and warned of an "informed response" by the U.S. that teetered on the brink of military action. Meanwhile, Putin noted that there was no actual evidence to back up Kerry's claim.

A subsequent United Nations report failed to pin any blame on Assad, but the narrative had already been entrenched.

"Nobody's going to turn away a child," Reay added, "but the fact is we have a bigger picture here with the rule of law. When are we going to get control of our borders? That is an issue."

Without that, Babeu said, Obama would be wasting any emergency funds he gets from Congress.

"President Obama may as well throw this money out the window, because this is a one-time Band-Aid," he said. "It does not address the core issue, an unsecured border.

"By turning this as purely a humanitarian crisis without fixing the 2008 deficiencies of the law, President Obama is sending a message to future illegals that if you get to the border, you're home free."

Babeu illustrated his frustration this way, reflecting on the latest government estimates: "What comes next? How does President Obama say no to the next 90,000? He doesn't — and then, there's another $3.7 billion."

"If we don't stand for the rule of law, this just further undermines who we are as Americans. This number is going to be far greater, and the problem never gets addressed, never gets solved.

"For every other American, the law applies to us — yet when it comes to immigration, it appears that there is no law, because there is no consequences for breaking the law," Babeu said.

LA Street Artist Blasts Obama for 'Scandalous' Fundraiser

As President Obama arrives in Los Angeles for his $32,000 per plate fundraiser at the home of Shonda Rhimes this week, a local street artist is pointing out the irony of the producer of the hit TV show Scandal, a show about a Washington public relations firm that specializes in managing political scandals, hosting the producer of such actual scandals as the cover-up surrounding the Benghazi attack, the lost hard-drives of IRS officials targeting conservatives, and the Fast and Furious gun running scheme.

Posters went up Monday night all over Hollywood around Rhimes's Hancock Park home and the Sunset Gower Studios where Scandal is filmed.

“We Say Grace and We Say Ma’am”

maam

I’m afraid we may be looking at an upcoming generation of Southern children who don’t know what it means to say “sir” and “ma’am.”

It’s an interesting concept, but Southerners are certainly known for politeness, and that includes the habit of saying “sir” and “ma’am.” If a Southern child simply says a terse “yes” or “no,” (or, heaven forbid, a “yep” or a “nope”), a nearby adult will quickly follow-up with, “yes, what?” or “no, what?”

And the child who had momentarily forgotten his manners had better instantly reply with “yes, sir,” or “no, ma’am.” The child can also consider it a good day if the adult didn’t include a resounding thump as part of this exchange.

But here’s the funny part. While we Southerners consider it offensive and rude to NOT refer to an adult as “sir” or “ma’am,” Yankees basically consider it insulting to do so, and think of them as fighting words. Unless they’ve had a military background, Yankee women especially take it as insulting and derogatory to be called “ma’am” by anybody.

From ‘My People’ to ‘Our People’ — What Next?

Via WRSA

gutierrez

Representative Luis Gutierrez addressed the National Council of La Raza in hyper tones, calling not only for more amnesties but also for the crowd to “punish” their adversaries who would oppose them.
Apparently, Eric Holder’s prior separatist reference to “my people” when talking of African Americans, and President Obama’s earlier 2010 racialist call for Latinos “to punish our enemies” have filtered down as mainstream nomenclature and emboldened others. But how strange that “raza,” “my people,” and “our people” are now politically correct words in a linguistically sensitive age when referents like the Washington “Redskins” or “illegal” immigrants are considered racially insensitive.

Gutierrez might stop for a second, and ask what the logical trajectory is of a multiracial America in which particular ethnic groups refer to themselves as “our” or “my” people — would not the corollary be that those Americans outside the proper ethnic circle would be “not our people” or “not my people”?

But the U.S. State Department, while it disagrees with the message, says it’s okay with the act.

They were the first substantive comments the State Dept. had offered on the act.
