Swallowing the Dog

Via WRSA

In the South, the term "swallowing the dog" meant pledging allegiance to the United States

Dixie

This is another series of excerpts from The Day Dixie Died that our readers ought to really enjoy. What is the meant by the phrase “swallowing the dog”?

For Confederate veterans, the term “swallowing the dog” meant being forced to repeatedly pledge allegiance to the United States whose military forces were occupying the Confederacy.

“Swallowing the dog” is the same feeling of alienation and disgust that Southerners experience today at the sight of President Barack Hussein Obama and Eric “My People” Holder:

“It was the most despised word in the South. A few took it “as if it was nothing more than a Glass of Lemonade.” Others refused as if it were arsenic. It forced people to reexamine their priorities:

principles or bread? They reconsidered what it meant to give their word of honor. For loyal Confederates, it was likened to “swallowing the dog.”

The Oath of Allegiance to the United States became a staple of the Confederate diet. In exchange for the privilege to vote, to transact business, to acquire rations, to perform marriage ceremonies, or even get married. Rebels were forced to gulp down their pride and utter these words: “I do solemnly swear that I hereby renounce all countenance, support and allegiance to the so-called Confederate States of America.

For a people left crushed a crippled, the requirement of the oath was like pouring salt into an open wound.

Detroit Police Chief, Gracing Cover Of NRA Magazine, Defends Stance On Right To Bear Arms

Detroit’s police chief is interviewed in the most recent issue of “America’s First Freedom” — an NRA magazine —  voicing his support for the right to bear arms.

The article titled, “A Show of Courage In Detroit,” comes following at least five fatal shootings in two months involving homeowners protecting themselves from intruders.  The sub-headline reads, “Motor City Police Chief James Craig Encourages Citizens to Arm Themselves.”

Craig, whose photo appears on the cover, says being featured in the magazine does not mean he advocates violence; he just strongly believes in the right to protect one’s self.

“We’re talking about people who are faced with an imminent threat or great bodily injury. That’s what we’re talking about here. So I stand by that, I support it,” ” Craig told WWJ Newsradio 950′s Jackie Paige in a live interview on Monday.

GRNC Alert 05-22-14 RECIPROCITY PROBLEMS - IS NC NEXT?

Our friend, Jeff Knox, at the Firearms Coalition, has issued the following critical alert (below). It looks like Pennsylvania needs our help, and this is the perfect chance to show that gun owners across the country will unite for a common cause, and will refuse to be continually subjected to harassment and illegal activities by government officials. Below, you’ll see what the Pennsylvania’s AG is doing to concealed-carry reciprocity agreements with several states. If this is allowed to stand, it’s only a matter of time until North Carolina’s reciprocity agreement with Pennsylvania is also on the chopping block. Here are important excerpts from Knox’s message:

Pennsylvania’s gun-unfriendly Attorney General has taken it upon herself to ignore the statutory limits on her power and modify - and even cancel - longstanding reciprocity agreements with other states.  Recently she has made changes to the reciprocity agreements with Virginia, Florida, and Arizona, and she has canceled reciprocity agreements with Idaho and Utah.

I suspect that Mike Bloomberg or the Legal Center Against Violence - or whatever those rights-hating San Francisco lawyers are calling themselves this week - have been whispering in the AG's ear and convinced her that she can get away with this.  If that's the case, be on the lookout for similar actions in other states.

Right now, we need to put pressure on Pennsylvania politicians to rein in the AG and force her to respect the rights of Pennsylvanians and folks who would like to visit Pennsylvania.

Whether you're a PA resident or not, please let the Governor know that you're not happy about the situation.  Not only does this mean that those of us wishing to visit PA are more likely to have problems carrying our personal defense arms, but Pennsylvanians wishing to visit other states are now at greater risk.

Tourism is a major industry in Pennsylvania and that got a boost a few years ago when the National Park Service ban on lawful carry on NPS lands was lifted - opening up battlefield parks like Gettysburg to those of us who avoid going where we can't go armed.  That is now being jeopardized by the extra-statutory actions of this rogue AG.

If you've ever considered visiting Pennsylvania, let the Governor know that those plans are on hold until such time as the PA AG stops threatening the rights of responsible, licensed, law-abiding visitors.

The generally gun-friendly Governor's email address is listed below, and you’ll also see the note I've sent him.  Please use it as a guide to send him a note of your own to let him know that his AG is costing his state business. You don't have to say a lot, just let him know you're not happy and you're going to avoid Pennsylvania as long as the state’s concealed-carry reciprocity agreements are in question or voided all together.

Obama Administration’s Silence on Pregnant Christian Woman Sentenced to Death is Deafening

The President’s team can hardly afford another scandal, but that’s exactly what they’ll have on their hands if the U.S. State Department insists on ignoring the plight of an American family in Sudan.

For three months, a young Christian wife — now almost eight and a half months pregnant — has been shackled in a Sudanese prison on death row. Authorities, who refuse to recognize her marriage to a Christian man, have sentenced her to 100 lashes for adultery and execution for her faith.

As if that weren’t horrifying enough, her stateside husband, Daniel Wani, an American citizen, says their 20-month-old toddler is behind bars with her, enduring unspeakable horrors at the hands of the oppressive Sudanese. Her frantic husband, who continues to plead with the U.S. Embassy for help, flew from New England to Khartoum to visit his wife, Meriam Ibrahim — and was beside himself to find her bound up and swollen. For now, authorities refuse to release his son to Daniel, because of his faith. Although the court gave Meriam days to recant her Christianity, she refused, saying, “I am a Christian, and I will remain a Christian.”

And while the court does allow pregnant women to give birth before their hanging, the international community is pressing to overturn the verdict.

The Princeville Montessori School Incidence

Re-post NamSouth 2002

September 16, 2002

Dr. W. Steve Stone
412 Pearl Street
Tarboro, NC 27886

Dear Dr. Stone,

Since I have removed my daughter, Dixie Townsend, from Mrs. Maultsby's first grade class at the *Princeville Montessori School, I am writing you since I feel you should know the reason for this action. In the spring of this year my wife, our daughter and I moved from California to Tarboro. Upon the recommendation of Denise and William Overman, from whom we bought our home, we enrolled our daughter at Princeville. We were pleased that she would be in such a school as she had attended Montessori pre-school in California. Dixie went to kindergarten in the **California public school system and during this year her English much improved. She is one-half Vietnamese.

Our daughter went to the Princeville School for a short time at the end of last year and then was tutored throughout the summer by her teacher, Miss Mayo. I cannot say enough about the warm and caring individual Dixie found in her teacher. Miss Mayo is one of the sweetest and kindest individuals I have known whether she was in the classroom or visiting in my home. As the summer ended, I felt comfortable knowing that Dixie would be attending this school.

Shortly after the beginning of school, Dixie's attitude changed and she didn't want to go to school, where before she had always been eager to attend. At times she would ask her Mother if she had to go to school and was very disappointed when told yes. She became lethargic and did not want to get up in the morning. Then for two days in a row, she cried and stated she did not want to go to school, but would not answer as to the reason. Finally, on the third day, she cried and said she did not want to go because her teacher was mean and yelled at her. When I asked Mrs. Maultsby about this, she stated that she never yelled and that I could sit in her classroom whenever I liked. I told her that I didn't believe that it would be necessary at that time. I finally got Dixie to go into the classroom, but from then on I noticed how very tired she was at the end of each day. Since that time I noticed that Mrs. Maultsby was never available for even a few words after school. Always, "I have to go to a
meeting" or something in that regard.

On September the 4th, I went to pick up Dixie at 2:30. I saw Miss Mayo first and had a few pleasant words with her. I then saw Mrs. Maultsby with Dixie. Mrs. Maultsby approached me, obviously not in a happy state, and abruptly informed me that Dixie had not done her homework and to talk to her. She was extremely rude with a countenance that was scary. She was looking at Dixie as though she hated her. When I stated that she had done her homework, Mrs. Maultsby, glared at me and said she had not. I tried to continue the conversation while I was going through Dixie's bag looking for the homework, but Mrs. Maultsby hurried away. I was truly shocked. I couldn't believe that a teacher would act in this manner. This was on the curbside of the pick up area full with teachers, parents and children. I then followed Mrs. Maultsby, with Dixie by my side, all the while rummaging through the school bag. I attempted to get close to Mrs. Maultsby at this time, but she disappeared. I found her again near where Miss Mayo was standing and tried to talk to her, but she only wanted to argue. I stated, "I am not going to argue with you." She then agreed to go to her room with me. All this time she was obviously in a foul mood, furious with whom, I can't be sure. When we arrived in her classroom, she seemed to be in a vindictive mood. She was angry, hostile and spiteful. She abruptly opened Dixie's drawer to show us that Dixie had forgotten her blank paper on which she was to do her homework. She seemed very pleased that Dixie had made a mistake.

She stated emphatically that all the children had to listen to her and do exactly as she said. I then told her that Dixie had done her homework on a piece of paper that I had furnished at home. She then
stated that there was a paper with no name, but when they asked whose paper it was, that no one answered. I asked her where was it now. To which she replied that she did not know. So, evidently, Mrs. Maultsby couldn't be bothered to ask Dixie directly if that was her paper. Better to just throw it away and accuse Dixie of not doing her homework! I assume that Dixie was too terrified to answer since she had forgotten to put her name on the paper and was truly afraid of Mrs. Maultsby.

Looking at Mrs. Maultsby's face at this juncture, I decided it best we leave. I believe she was very close to loosing control completely. I then went to see the Principal, Ms. Odom. She was very polite. When I informed her briefly of the incident, I also told her I could not possibly keep Dixie in her class as Mrs. Maultsby was obviously not a good role model. Ms. Odom stated she couldn't move each child whenever a parent wanted such, but would schedule a meeting between the three of us. I thought that she should have called Mrs. Maultsby into her office at this time, as everything would be fresh and she could see Mrs. Maultsby's composure. Also, I told her that many people had seen this incidence and she should get some other opinions. To which she stated that she didn't want to get anyone else involved. I even told her that Miss Mayo had seen some of it, all to no avail. We scheduled the appointment at 2:45 the next day, as I already had a meeting scheduled with Mrs. Maultsby.

I went home with Dixie and as we were entering the front door, she said, "Daddy, why was my teacher so mean to you?" Then she stated, "I want to buy my teacher some red pencils, so she won't be so mean to me all the time." A short while later, I called Ms. Odorn, told her of Dixie's comments and stated that the only way Dixie could stay in her school would be for Dixie to be transferred and a written apology be given me by Mrs.Maultsby. I also stated that I didn't believe that Dixie should go to school the next day. Ms. Odom said she would see me tomorrow. During that evening and the next morning, the main thought that kept going through my head was, " I can't believe this happened." However, I honestly thought that Mrs. Maultsby would at least say that she was sorry, for she was in a bad mood or something to that effect. When the three of us met on Thursday, I asked Mrs. Maultsby, "What are your recollections of what happened yesterday?" she started to give a very benign report acting as though nothing had happened and at the first factual error, I tried to say something, to which she stated, Are you going to let me finish?" I stated, "I believe we are wasting time." Then I said, "Are you willing to furnish me with a written letter of apology?" To which she stated that she did not know why she should and that she had co-workers. . . . . . . At this time I realized what I feared had happened. I believed that a cover up had been attempted. All of which could have been avoided if Ms. Odom had called Mrs. Maultsby, Miss Mayo and others into her office at the time that I went to see her. I then stood up, and stated that "Dixie is out of here." "I will be writing a detailed letter to the Superintendent." As I walked out of the room I stated, "You are the rudest person I have ever met."

I have enrolled Dixie in another ***school where she is happy and eager to go to school each day just as she was before. She arises each morning with zeal and the spring has returned to her step after school. This is the fifth child that I have sent through school. I have never had a confrontation with a teacher; never the slightest problem that I can remember. I am appalled that a teacher would act in such a manner.

Mrs. Maultsby clearly is in the wrong profession.

Cordially,

Brock Townsend

Obama delivers his standard damage control statement on the VA scandal

Rolling into a press conference 15 minutes late, when the subject under discussion is veterans dying while they were kept waiting for medical treatment, was vintage Barack Obama.  So was his statement on the VA scandal – his first public utterance on the outrageous mistreatment of veterans after three weeks of mounting public anger, and five years of Obama knowing about the problem, if not the extent of the systemic bureaucratic cover-up.
This was the standard Obama damage control statement, a political Mad Lib in which he simply pencils in whatever controversy he finally feels obliged to address.
”I’m more angry than anyone about [SCANDAL], which I just learned about yesterday by reading the newspapers, and I have full faith in [CORRUPT OR INCOMPETENT OFFICIAL] to investigate the situation.
I’m waiting for a report due in [FUTURE MONTH] before I make any policy recommendations, but for now let me emphasize that no one cares about [VICTIMIZED GROUP] more than I do, and I would remind you that my Administration has provided [LIST OF PROGRAMS TO BENEFIT VICTIMIZED GROUP] to demonstrate the seriousness of my commitment to [PHONY CAMPAIGN PROMISE.]”

FBI chief: ‘Be suspicious’ of government power

The head of the FBI says he understands why people worry about the scope of the government's powers, and in fact, he agrees with them.

“I believe people should be suspicious of government power. I am,” Director James Comey told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday morning.

“I think this country was founded by people who were worried about government power so they divided it among three branches,” he added.

New York Abortion Bill Allows Shooting Babies Through the Heart With Poison to Kill Them

 http://lifenews.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/digoxin1.png

It’s back! The so-called Women’s Equality Act, which allows late-term abortions in New York for virtually any reason, has returned.

A group of pro-abortion Democratic State Senators continued to push today for abortion-expansion, despite polls showing the overwhelming majority of New Yorkers oppose their dangerous agenda. And the bill has grisly consequences.

“How many times do New Yorkers have to reject this radical agenda that would legalize abortion for any reason through all nine months?” asked Lori Kehoe, New York State Right to Life executive director. “New York is already the abortion capital of the United States, with practically no oversight of the industry, but they would rather protect the abortion business than New York women. It’s wrong.”

Beyond Censorship, Now Media Fraud – Channel 6 Orlando Florida Staggering Censorship To Remove Descriptions Of Murder Suspects… Racial Censorship (Must Watch Video)

Via Susan

Most of the time the Politically Correct media’s inherent agenda to hide the race of murder suspects (when they are black) is subtle.   Sometimes it’s obvious…. and sometimes it’s BRUTALLY OBVIOUS.

Here is an example of the most blatant and brutally obvious media manipulations we have seen in a while.

Channel 6 in Orlando Florida is covering the story of three black suspects who open fire on a random white target in front of a hospital.

However, the media go well beyond racial censorship and directly to outright fraud.  To understand the scope of their insufferable manipulations you must know two facts before you watch this video.

TEACHER DROPS F-BOMB AFTER F-BOMB

F-bomb-teacher-600
An Atlanta teacher is reportedly under investigation after dropping a series of F-bombs in a scream-filled tirade in front of her class.
The incident was recorded on a cell phone by one of her students at Crawford W. Long Middle School, whose slogan is, “Every child is a story yet to be told.”
“I’m trying to do something, and I can’t keep babysitting you. Close the door!” the frustrated teacher yells at one of her students. “I said close the f—ing door. Why would you walk away from it with it open?”
After slamming the classroom door herself, the teacher yells, “Stop! I ain’t f—ing playing with you. You want to play? Stay home with your mama!”
“I have a f—ing job. Half your mothers don’t,” she continues.

An M4 in burst mode fires about eight rounds per minute, or about one round every six seconds.
