White girl: 'I'm tired of being looked at like prey': Letter upsets city's Black History Month

http://www.wnd.com/files/2014/02/woman-walking-in-dark-alley-600.jpg

Black History Month in Baltimore is a busy, busy time. Every aspect of black life in this city is remembered and celebrated: Black schools. Black music. Black movies. Black churches. Black literature. Black clothing. Black politicians. Even black trains.

Then Tracey Halvorsen had to go and spoil it all: She wrote an article about crime in Baltimore. How she and her mostly white neighbors live in fear. And no one seems to care. Or worse, lots of people think it is normal. “Baltimore City,You Are Breaking My Heart,” is going viral for an on-line magazine called Medium.com. A few quotes:

“I’m tired of being looked at like prey.”

“I’m tired of thinking about the horrifying final moments for 51 year old neighbor, Kim Leto, stabbed to death in her own home by two teenagers.”

“I’m tired of wondering why city leaders haven’t said s*** about recent horrific murders committed by children in supposedly ‘safe’ neighborhoods.”

“I’m tired of living next to a beautiful park that I’m scared to walk into at any time of day, thanks to regular stories of day-time muggings, drug dealing and gang violence.”

Right vs privilege - When someone tries asks you to compromise on your rights, you are coming to the table with total ownership of something and they come to the table with nothing. A compromise implies something from one party and something from the other. When there is total ownership on one side and nothing on the other, if you compromise the only possible outcome is a loss for you and a win for them. Need has absolutely nothing to do with it. You have the right to be left alone when it comes to keeping and bearing of arms.

What most bloggers won't admit - I have a confession: Most of my blogging skills can be traced to the fact that I'm a good complainer. I complained when I was a kid, I complained as a young man—and now I'm turning into a complaining old geezer. I'm considering having a selection of prerecorded messages installed inside my tombstone so that visitors can push an assortment of buttons and hear me complain even after I'm dead.

It isn't hope that animates the left's leaders and thinkers, but the darker side of human nature. That dark side is why the left's victories end in tragedies, why the red flags are painted with blood and why when its followers have run out of enemies to kill, they turn on each other and destroy their own movements with firing squads, gulags and guillotines.

Euro-Americans - They tolerate a huge transfer of jobs, manufacturing capability, and technology to a strategic communist rival; their cities being turned into crime-ridden "no go" wastelands by minorities that clearly never intend to participate in a law-abiding, productive America; the debasement of their currency; the compulsory education of their children by their enemies; and, so far, an invasion by some 20,000,000 foreigners who decided in their sole discretion to come here to displace American workers, attach themselves to the welfare system, and demand the right to vote.

What Equality of Opportunity really means is that everyone should be treated like the lowest common denominator. This means that parents should be made to give control of their children to the state, that no school should be better than the worst, that home schooling in any form should be outlawed, that no amount of effort should be differentially rewarded, that individual excellence and talent should be punished...           All Vietnam vets - heads-up re Gen Hal Moore

Head's up in case you didn't get this.

Today Cliff Stern alerted me Lt Gen. Hal Moore (Ret) is very ill and not expected to live long. I called Joe Galloway, his best friend, and Joe confirmed, said it broke his heart when he became involved with advance funeral planning with the US Army. Whenever it happens, the funeral is planned for the large Catholic church in Auburn AL (don’t yet know the name or location) and interment will be at the Ft. Benning GA cemetery. The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation is also preparing, perhaps for a flyby, perhaps to fly the casket to Ft. Benning, but I don’t know.

Joe said Gen Moore’s family understands that countless Vietnam vets care deeply about the man, and Joe said we all will be welcome at the funeral. I can imagine the cars parked around that church might be more than hundreds in a parking nightmare, and the funeral procession from Auburn AL to Ft. Benning might be the largest ever seen. Maybe I’ll pack sandwiches in a cooler since a crowd that big will clean out every eatery along the way.

Joe said keep your eyes and ears open and you’ll hear about the event when Gen Moore passes away and the funeral is scheduled.

I am not involved, this is just a heads up in case you want to be one of many to pay your respects when the time comes.

NC: Forsyth Medical Center says 18 patients exposed to deadly disease

Via LH

 Dr. Jim Lederer

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center announced Monday they are reaching out to 18 neurosurgery patients exposed to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a degenerative neurological disorder that is incurable and invariably fatal.

“Today we are reaching out to 18 neurosurgery patients who were exposed to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease over the last three weeks at Forsyth Medical Center,” said Jeff Lindsay, President of Forsyth Medical Center.

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a rare, degenerative, invariably fatal brain disorder.

CJD affects about one person in every one million people per year worldwide.

“While the CDC categorizes such risks as “very low,” any risk of transmission is simply unacceptable,” said Lindsay. ”On behalf of the entire team, I apologize to the patients and their families for this anxiety. We are committed to providing support to patients and their families.”

Congress to Education Establishment: Time to End the Common Core

Congress is listening to the parents and educators across the nation who are voicing their concerns about the Common Core State Standards Initiative. In a recent flurry of legislative activity, congressional opposition to the federal government’s involvement in pressuring the states to adopt the initiative has emerged loud and clear.

Last week, Senator Lindsey Graham introduced Senate Resolution 345, a powerful resolution pushing back against the Common Core State Standards Initiative and specifically calling for the federal government to “not incentivize the adoption of common education standards or the creation of a national assessment to align with such standards.” You can read a press release here.

The resolution is already cosponsored by senators Tim Scott (SC), Chuck Grassley (IA), Mike Lee (UT), Ted Cruz (TX), James Inhofe (OK), Thad Cochran (MS), Roger Wicker (MS), Dan Coats (IN), and Mike Enzi (WY).

A companion resolution was introduced in the House of Representatives by Representative Jeff Duncan (SC). Since it was just introduced, it does not yet have a resolution number. Rep. Duncan’s resolution is already cosponsored by Joe Wilson (SC), Andy Harris (MD), Mick Mulvaney (SC), Trent Franks (AZ), Doug Collins (GA), Randy Hultgren (IL), Tim Huelskamp (KS), Thomas Massie (KY), Marsha Blackburn (TN), Lee Terry (NE), Justin Amash (MI), Tom Cotton (AR), Mike Rogers (AL), Matt Salmon (AZ), Bob Gibbs (OH), and Walter Jones (NC).

Man In Hospital Plays Knockout On His Own Nurse

From New York’s CBS affiliate:

Investigators were trying to determine Sunday why a hospital patient in Brooklyn allegedly turned on his nurse and beat her until she was unconscious.

The nurse who was beaten by this savage is 70 years old and is undergoing emergency surgery. She’s in critical condition because the patient she was taking care of couldn’t keep his fists from swinging.

What’s the name of this hospital patient?

The nurse was removing Kwincii Jones’ catheter at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brownsville when he knocked her to the ground and began beating her repeatedly, police said.

“Kwincii Jones.” What is that, Irish? Or, no, that’s a Jewish name, isn’t it? Hmm. Maybe Kwincii is a Quaker, raised by a God-fearing, tight-knit family?

Homeland Security to Purchase 141,000 Rounds of Sniper Ammo

Via Jonathan

The Department of Homeland Security is buying more bullets with a solicitation for over 141,00 rounds of sniper ammunition.

According to a solicitation posted on FedBizOpps, the federal agency is looking to procure 141,160 rounds of Hornady .308 Winchester 168gr A-MAX TAP ammunition.

Such ammunition is sometimes retailed as “Zombie Max,” a marketing gimmick alluding to its power.

“What makes the .308 ammunition so deadly is the long range capability of the round,” notes James Smith. “The ability is called ballistic coefficient, or the efficiency of a projectile in overcoming air resistance as it travels to its target. According to Speer Reloading Manual Number 13, the .308 165 grain has the highest coefficient of any hunting rifle.”

The latest purchase further illustrates the fallacy of the DHS’ excuse that it is buying bullets in bulk in order to save money.

Judicial Watch announced Monday that it received documents through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit showing that Admiral William McRaven ordered the immediate destruction of any photos of Osama bin Laden’s death within hours of a Judicial Watch FOIA request.

According to the Pentagon documents, McRaven sent his email on “Friday, May 13, 2011 5:09 PM.”
The documents do not detail what documents, if any, were destroyed in response to the McRaven directive. The Judicial Watch FOIA lawsuit seeking the documents was filed in the United States Court for the District of Columbia only hours earlier. Virginia Flaggers VMFA Update 2-11-2014

February has kicked off in a big way for the Va Flaggers and our campaign to return the Confederate Battle Flags to the portico of the Confederate Memorial Chapel.  At the same time that we have made significant headway in our preparations for pending litigation, our presence on the sidewalk on the Boulevard has not only held steady despite the chilly weather, but our numbers continue to grow, reminding museum officials, visitors, and Richmond residents that we will not forget the honor and sacrifice of the men who lived an died on the grounds of the Old Soldiers Home.

Saturday, February 1st was a pleasantly warm day, with temperatures reaching the mid 50's.  8 Flaggers saw heavy foot and auto traffic, including this man and his daughter (left photo) tourists from Great Britain, who told the Flaggers that he was shocked that the flags had been removed and that there is much respect for the Confederacy abroad.  He asked to pose with the flag.  Throughout the day, there were many opportunities to educate folks and change hearts and minds in the Capital of the Confederacy.

Twitler, the face of the declining birth rate, chilly, prissy, sexless, prudish, censorious, and adolescent. A likely spinster librarian.

Oh, help. It seems that at Columbia University a ratpack of nursery feminists have got their skivvies in a knot because the library, Butler, is named for an, ugh!, man. Yes. It cannot be denied. In protest, these girls, apparently having nothing more important to do, have filmed “feminist pornography” in the library. A scandal arose. What feminist porn might be is not clear. Since feminism has more dykes than the Zuiderzee, presumably they will show it to each other.

Anyway, one of these drab libertines, a Sara Grace Powell, says, “Butler is an extremely charged space — the names emblazoned on the stone facade are, for me, a stimulant for resistance.”

Scary 1929 market chart gains traction

Via avordvet

Opinion: If market follows the same script, trouble lies directly ahead

There are eerie parallels between the stock market’s recent behavior and how it behaved right before the 1929 crash.

That at least is the conclusion reached by a frightening chart that has been making the rounds on Wall Street. The chart superimposes the market’s recent performance on top of a plot of its gyrations in 1928 and 1929.

The picture isn’t pretty. And it’s not as easy as you might think to wriggle out from underneath the bearish significance of this chart.

Author's note: This is a continuation of my previous column. The university responded three days after my call for an investigation into viewpoint discrimination in the student group recognition process at UNC-Wilmington. This is my first response to that investigation. What was intended to be a two-part series will now stretch into three parts. Enjoy part two below.

Dear Chancellor Miller (chancellor@uncw.edu):

I am in receipt of the results of your three day investigation into allegations of viewpoint discrimination by the student affairs division of the administration at UNC-Wilmington. The results of the investigation are unsatisfactory and now compel me to seek outside assistance to remedy problems that administrators are aware of but unfortunately appear to be denying.

Eric Holder to step down this year: report

He should be stepping behind bars.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will step down this year, he said in an interview with the New Yorker’s Jeffrey Toobin in the magazine’s Feb. 17 edition.

In a feature article, Mr. Holder said he plans on staying in his position “well into” the year.

Prior Presidents did Executive Orders so why not Obama?

 Losing Our Freedom

So what if the President does executive orders! Did not prior presidents do the same thing? Yes and no! George Washington did 8, John Adams 1, Thomas Jefferson 4, James Madison 1, James Monroe 1, John Quincy Adams 3, and Andrew Jackson 12. The first seven presidents totaled 30 executive orders over forty-seven years. The most recent seven presidents Barack Obama 168, George W. Bush 291, William J. Clinton 364, George Bush 166, Ronald Reagan 381, Jimmy Carter 320, and Gerald R. Ford 169 totaled 1,859, over forty years—sixty-two times as many. Obviously something has radically changed.

A review of the literature shows that, in fact, Barack Obama has fewer executive orders than most and proponents of him are quick to make this distinction. They also convey the idea that all executive orders are similar and constitutional unless undone by Congress or declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. These ideas are easy to dismiss. Rarely does Congress undo an executive order because the president’s party runs interference. Moreover, virtually no executive orders are declared unconstitutional because personal damage to someone (not the Constitution) has to be demonstrated and those damaged must be willing to pursue a legal course for several years before their case reaches the high court.

The Trigger: If This Ever Happens You Know You’re Days Away From Nuclear War

Via NC Renegade

thermo-nuke

Here’s how I think it’s going down. I think there will be an attack against South Korea. The North Koreans have over two million troops… 20,000 artillery… they can level Seoul in a matter of three or four days. The only way the U.S. can stop that attack is using tactical nuclear weapons.

And that would give China the excuse to nuke the United States. U.S. is guilty of first-use, the U.S. is the bully of the world, Russia and Chinese unite to launch against U.S. military targets. Not civilian targets per say. There will be about 12 or 15 cities that are inextricably connected with the military that are going to get hit that I mentioned in Strategic Relocation… you don’t want to be in those cities.

You may have two days notice when that attack in Korea starts, before China launches on the United States.

And if you ever see everything blackout, because both Russia and China will use a preemptive nuclear EMP strike to take down the grid… before the nukes actually fall… anytime you see all electricity out, no news, nothing at all… that’s the time you need to be getting out of cities before the panic hits.

Do We Care If The Poor Don't Work?

Via Daily Timewaster

http://cdn.theatlantic.com/newsroom/img/posts/Why_the_Poor_Dont_Work_Census_Gender.png

Well, we should. Some of us don't. But we should.
But it’s also possible to argue that as a rich, post-scarcity society, we shouldn’t really care that much about whether the poor choose to work. The important thing is just making sure they have a decent standard of living, full stop, and if they choose Keynesian leisure over a low-paying job, that’s their business.
No, actually. No. It is not possible to argue this in front of anyone with a functioning brain, for more than three seconds.

Here's why: first of all, even conceding the very strange new notion that we are so wealthy we can let much of the population loaf, there is a thing on this planet we call adversity. Bad things happen.

Industrial accidents, floods, economic devastation, massive crop failures, earthquakes, terrorist attacks. And so on.

Stores of excess wealth and widespread economic independence are good and necessary attributes to possess, when adversity strikes.

Douthat's assumption is that this is a time of plenty and things will carry on this way forever. This assumption has had a 100% guaranteed failure rate over the entire course of human history and will fail quite reliably in the future, probably very much sooner than we would like.

U.S. = The Mafia State of Mind

Via WRSA

f

Once the mafia state of mind has seeped into every nook and cranny of the society and economy, it's not even recognized as corruption: it's simply the way the system works.

We recently spent a few days with a friend who was born and raised in Sicily who now lives elsewhere in Europe with his wife (also Italian, from Naples). Though we talked of many things, one of his comments struck me like a bolt of lightning.

The Mafia isn't about shoot-outs, he said; the mafia is a state of mind.

He then pointed to a city trash collection truck driving by. Those guys are mafia.

I should stipulate that our friends are left-liberal in their views, and deeply concerned about the direction of free enterprise, democracy and social equality in Europe. He did not make these comments as a joke but with the utmost seriousness.

Why are the union sanitation workers a mafia? Because they have the leverage (via strikes) to extract and extort what they want from a populace who earns less than they do in wages, benefits and pensions--a population with no other choice. Is there some other option to giving the striking municipal workers what they demand? Is there another choice to clear the streets of garbage? Is there another train system to get to work when the train operators are on strike? No.
