Understanding the Middle East Crisis: Resurgent Islamic Fundamentalism

There is a polite myth, popular with Western politicians, liberal academics, and many media pundits that Islam is inherently peaceful. This profound misunderstanding of Islam could not be further from the teachings of the Koran and Muhammad, and it is frequently used to deceive non-Muslims. Yet the myth has been sustained because of Western European and American dependence on Arab oil, the prevailing fashion of post-Christian multiculturalism, and an understandable need for diplomacy in dealing with scores of Muslim nations. Nonetheless, it is a very dangerous myth. It masks a reality that poses a substantial threat to U.S. security and the very survival of Western Europe.

Despite the phrase “In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful” introducing 113 out of 114 chapters of the Koran, Islam as defined by its most sacred doctrinal literature, is certifiably not a religion of peace and tolerance. The chronologically earliest chapters of the Koran written in Mecca contain many peaceful verses, but they contradict coercive and violent verses in its chronologically later chapters written in Medina. Islam solves these contradictions with the “Rule of Abrogation.” Early verses contradicted by later verses are abrogated or voided as to practical significance. Unfortunately, the peaceful and tolerant verses in the early chapters of the Koran are nullified by this Islamic doctrine of interpretation. What is left is a religion committed to coercion, violence, and deception in order to advance its theological, ideological, legal, moral, and political dominance over all peoples and nations. . 

The God of Judeo-Christian Scripture does not change, but Allah changes his mind. Sometimes Muhammad’s revelation of these changes seem rather expedient, as when in Chapter 33:37, Muhammad is allowed to take his adopted son’s attractive young wife.

It is polite and popular to call the coercive, violent, and deceptive aspects of Islam “radical Islam.” But radical Islam is the real Islam, and its “radical” doctrines are the fundamental doctrines that have always dominated Islam. Islam is what the Koran and the teachings of Muhammad say it is—not what humanistic Western political and cultural leaders wish it to be.

Islam has declared us their enemies, and their ways are not gentle.

In the nearly 1400 years since Islam’s birth, its true fundamental nature has not always prevailed in the governing of Muslim nations. Muslim rulers and their supporting military and commercial classes have often been quite secularized in their worldviews. The fundamentals of Islam are deeply imbedded in the Koran and the teachings of Muhammad and can only be changed by Allah’s decree, but the application and influence of those fundamentals have waxed and waned with the winds of political, economic, and cultural change.

We are now living in a period of fundamentalist resurgence within Islam, and the violent and imperialistic ideology of Jihad is once more spreading like a raging fire in the Middle East and Muslim immigrant strongholds in the West. In the Koran and the teachings of Muhammad, Jihad can sometimes mean peaceful inner struggle, but it almost always entails violent war against all who will not submit to Islam. History and current events provide ample evidence that conquest, terror, coercion, and suppression have been the leading tools for advancing Muslim faith and law.  But rather than simply asserting that Jihad and the spreading of Islam by the sword is fundamental to the Koran, let us look at just eight verses of the Koran itself.

4:70 “Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject faith fight in the cause of evil; so fight ye against the friends of Satan; feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.”

4:95 “…Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than those who sit at home.”

8: 12 “I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers; smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips off them.”

8:39 “And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.”

9: 5 “But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem; but if they repent (accept Islam) and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity then open the way for them; for God is oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.”

9: 29 “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the last day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and his apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of truth even if they are the people of the book (Christians and Jews), until they pay the Jizya (special tax on unbelievers) with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”

9:123  “O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty unto Him.”

48:20 “Allah promises you much war booty that you will capture from the defeated infidels.”

There are over 100 verses in the Koran  linked to Holy War against all who resist Islam. There are many more in the Hadiths.

One of the strategies of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States is “Civilization Jihad.”

Civilization Jihad is simply conquering by immigration. Yet we have all but abandoned immigration enforcement on our borders and within our borders. Nearly two decades of multiculturalist indoctrination and misguided political encouragement have helped build a significant Fifth Column of financial, political, and potentially Jihadist threat to national security.

We had better get smart and tough-minded soon, or we will face dreadful consequences.
