The previous post dealt with the argument for carrying in condition three. This post will give the counter argument, for carrying in condition one.
A firearm that won't fire is as useless as a non-opposable thumb. There are exceptions but most of us don't regularly pack a bayonet as backup for running out of ammo.

Why not just carry a billy club or a big flashlight..... if the gun isn't ready to go then it is useless. When the SHTF no matter the situation you don't have time to rack the slide. That little wanna be thug that wants your car or money isn't going to give you time to do it. If you carry... carry hot.. a gun is useless without a round in the chamber.......

ReplyDeleteI went from carrying a 1911A1 for years to a Springfield XD45. It took me a little bit to get used to not thumbing off the safety. If you keep your boogerhook off the bangswitch until you are ready to fire, you don't have to worry about accidentally shooting yourself, or others.

ReplyDeleteThat is my standard condition. If I'm any place where safety is questionable I have to
option of going to full cock with the safety on, half cock with the safety off or both safety off and full cock. At that point I'm about 3 lbs from putting the round out the end of the chamber.
I accidentally dropped mine the other day, half cocked and the safety on. No problem
