Legislation Introduced to Eliminate ATF

Via LH

I guess we'd just end up with two corrupt agencies instead of three.......

Republican Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner has introduced legislation to eliminate the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a federal law enforcement agency with 5000 employees.

If passed, the legislation would dissolve the duties of ATF to the FBI and DEA. From the legislation:
To abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, transfer
its functions relating to the Federal firearms, explosives, and arson laws, violent crime, and domestic terrorism to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and transfer its functions relating to the Federal alcohol and tobacco smuggling laws to the Drug Enforcement Administration, and for other purposes.

  2. It will not happen. It makes too much sense. Besides, don't you know that once you work for the Feddotgov agency you are entitled to life time employment? Chances are they will be transfered to the TSA or DHS to continue their evil fascist ways

  3. Was the ATF a Congressionally approved entity? Or was it a rogue agency created like the EPA -by EO?
All these agencies need to be dissolved.

  4. ATF should have been legislated out of existence 10 minutes after it was created. I believe it is a EO agancy.

I believe the ATF was a result of prohibition and should have gone away with it but I don't favor putting the FBI in charge of firearm purchases!
