CIA, FBI agents 'advising Ukraine government': report

Via avordvet

We instigated the overthrow of the duly elected president and now we are prodding Putin.  Brilliant.
Dozens of specialists from the US Central Intelligence Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation are advising the Ukrainian government, a German newspaper reported Sunday.

Citing unnamed German security sources, Bild am Sonntag said the CIA and FBI agents were helping Kiev end the rebellion in the east of Ukraine and set up a functioning security structure.
It said the agents were not directly involved in fighting with pro-Russian militants. "Their activity is limited to the capital Kiev," the paper said.

  1. Chances of this ending well - very small to zero, especially with an America hating ideologue in the Oval Office.

    1. I think Putin and Obama should duke it out. That would be short and sweet. :)

  2. As serious an dangerous as the situation in Ukraine is it behooves us all carefully examine not just the immediate situation but the deep historical background. There are certainly a multiplicity of bad players on both sides. Truth is neither is there much if any precedent of operating within the context of legal contracts and law.

There has been an alarming tendency to paint every Ukrainian with legitimate nationalist feelings as a fascist and Putin as some sort of latter day hero of political freedom. Neither is true.

One must look hard to find any explanations outlining that the Ukrainians do have legitimate grievances with their Russian neighbors and reasons to want to be free of Russian hegemony.

I don't claim to be an expert on Russian/Ukrainian relations but the history is out there to find and some of it is pretty gruesome.

I have put up a series of post on the subject and I would invite any and all to read and comment. The situation is far to dangerous to be treated with shallow ill-considered conclusions.

In short it is possible to recognize the legitimate aspirations of the Ukrainians and not at the same time be either a fascist or a stooge of an inept Obama administration. At the same time we can recognize that native Russians living within Ukraine's borders also have legitimate concerns and that Putin and his government are perfectly capable of manipulating those concerns and inserting agent provocateurs.

    1. Much may very well come from the view of many that Obama is a limp wristed child and Putin is a man. Obama would have someone else kill you, but Putin would do it himself. Both dangerous, but I'd certainly rather have Putin in the foxhole beside me.

    2. I wouldn't want to be in a foxhole with either one. Granted Obama would do something stupid to get us both killed, but Putin would stab you in the back the first moment he thought it was to his advantage. He'd then smile and say "Sorry, nothing personal. It's just business" like some Mafia don. Which is exactly what he is.

    3. Well, I have more in common with a mafia don than I do with Obama. :)
