Field of Mopars Comes to Auction in Oregon

ACC photographer Marc Emerson made the trek to Brothers, OR, this weekend to photograph the Charles Kee Collection. The 250-car collection — heavy on Chryslers, DeSotos, Imperials, and 300s — will sell without reserve on May 8-9. James G. Murphy Commercial & Industrial Auctioneers  is handling this rodeo.

Kee, who died in December, was reportedly stockpiling the cars with the intention of opening a museum.

As the pictures below make clear, many of these cars may be of value only as parts cars or projects, but the dry Eastern Oregon high desert climate should alleviate concerns of serious rust. A handful of cars are thought to be mechanically viable.

A final run sheet is not yet available, but ACC has acquired this partial preliminary list. Watch this space for updates.

  1. Damn! Those rigs are straight! They look like Indiana daily drivers! Look at the chrome on some of those. Like new! That is a gold mine.

    1. 1953 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER 4-door, auto, HEMI V8, VIN: 66508181

Must be the 331. Wonder if some of those others might contain like or better goodies? I had a '55 New Yorker and had always thought it had a 354, but looking now, see it didn't come out until 1956.

The 300B engine was rated at 340 bhp

      Nice for '56.
