Soldier Posts Selfie of Her Hiding to Avoid Flag Salute

Authorities at Fort Carson in Colorado say they are "looking into" a "selfie" sent by a soldier apparently showing her hiding in a car to avoid a flag salute.

The self-photographed picture posted on Instagram by Pfc. Tariqka Sheffey of the 59th Quartermaster Company has gone viral, inspiring outraged responses, Army Times reported. On Tuesday, she posted a video that suggested she is unhappy with the response but fell short of an apology.

  1. Typical from a hood rat. In the barracks 20 years ago a black nco had Malcolm X and Farrakhan pics on the wall.

  2. I love women and am spending my days crocheting and knitting scarves for women all over America who have given me help along the way. Few, if any of them would be offoended to hear this old Army man say,"If Hagel wants to cut costs he should cut all the women except clerks and nurses. The fool in this article is in the wrong place and it gripes the hell out of me that that place is just down the road from me and is the new home of my sainted Father's beloved Fourth Infantry Division. The Germans called them "The Men With The Terrible Green Crosses" seventy years ago. What do they call them now, I wonder. To quote another friend of mine, Russell Means, in three weeks I'll have 81 winters.

I am trying to design a scarf with CSA motif. If I am successful I hope to send you two for your two great daughters. I know they are not afraid to wear such a memorial to the Lee-Jackson heroes.

    1. I agree. I have 5 girls, but one for Dixie would be appreciated and you can hand deliver it when you come to the PATCON! :)

  4. Just freaking brilliant! Sarc. Take a selfie, in uniform, name tape and rank showing. Does this bimbo think that this posting is NOT going to get back to the base commander, the base SgtMaj, her CO, and first Sgt? I can see some...ahhh NON UCMJ, after duty hours, off the offical record justice being done. As well as a visit to the local med clinic, for those repeated "falls" down the stairs.
I was a senior NCO, had she been one of my troops, I would have given her a choice:: she can have her attitude or her rank, But NOT both.
