Right vs privilege - When someone tries asks you to compromise on your rights, you are coming to the table with total ownership of something and they come to the table with nothing. A compromise implies something from one party and something from the other. When there is total ownership on one side and nothing on the other, if you compromise the only possible outcome is a loss for you and a win for them. Need has absolutely nothing to do with it. You have the right to be left alone when it comes to keeping and bearing of arms.

What most bloggers won't admit - I have a confession: Most of my blogging skills can be traced to the fact that I'm a good complainer. I complained when I was a kid, I complained as a young man—and now I'm turning into a complaining old geezer. I'm considering having a selection of prerecorded messages installed inside my tombstone so that visitors can push an assortment of buttons and hear me complain even after I'm dead.

Africa - As soon as Mugabe's thugs had murdered the farmers and taken possession of the farms, everything on them became mysteriously inoperable after these farms had run smoothly for the past 100 years. It was all the fault of demons and witches.

art-link-symbol-small-rev01.jpg They decry the Tea Party and its new institutions as a kabuki dance performed for filthy luchre from ill-mannered hicks and racists… not realizing that it is in the nature of populism, particularly conservative populism, to to see the structures of power more clearly for what they are, as opposed to what they claim to be. Just as the aristocracy of the day bought the Tories with the benefits of privilege, so today the existing Goliaths guard the status of the self-styled elite, says Ben Domenech in this essay, The Lessons Of David And Goliath For The Tea Party And The Establishment, at The Federalist.

art-link-symbol-small-rev01.jpg The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is offering academic credit for high school and university students planning to attend the upcoming national White Privilege Conference. High school students seeking credit are required to read “Privilege, Power and Difference” by Allan G. Johnson as well as “Understanding White Privilege” by Frances Kendall. Twenty percent of a student’s grade is comprised of writing a three-page paper on their "personal privilege," says Kyle Olson in this article at the Education Action Group. (Par for the course since this is where the fake Indian, fake artist, fake Vietnam combat veteran etcetera Churchill taught until busted. BT)

It isn't hope that animates the left's leaders and thinkers, but the darker side of human nature. That dark side is why the left's victories end in tragedies, why the red flags are painted with blood and why when its followers have run out of enemies to kill, they turn on each other and destroy their own movements with firing squads, gulags and guillotines.

Euro-Americans - They tolerate a huge transfer of jobs, manufacturing capability, and technology to a strategic communist rival; their cities being turned into crime-ridden "no go" wastelands by minorities that clearly never intend to participate in a law-abiding, productive America; the debasement of their currency; the compulsory education of their children by their enemies; and, so far, an invasion by some 20,000,000 foreigners who decided in their sole discretion to come here to displace American workers, attach themselves to the welfare system, and demand the right to vote.

Black groups at the University of Minnesota—groups who are so hell-bent on racial self-identification that they go by names such as "the African American and African Studies, Black Faculty and Staff Association, Black Graduate and Professional Student Association, Black Men’s Forum, Black Student Union and Huntley House for African American Males"—have petitioned the school to avoid using racial descriptions when posting crime alerts... Crime victims are counseled not to notice their assailants' skin color so as to avert any future instances of such discomfort.

We now live in a post-parodic society where nothing, no matter how absurd, can be assumed to be a joke.

Over the last 5 years, the U.S. has spent about $3.7 trillion on welfare. The enormous sum spent on means-tested assistance is nearly five times greater than the combined amount spent on NASA, education, and all federal transportation projects over that time.

What Equality of Opportunity really means is that everyone should be treated like the lowest common denominator. This means that parents should be made to give control of their children to the state, that no school should be better than the worst, that home schooling in any form should be outlawed, that no amount of effort should be differentially rewarded, that individual excellence and talent should be punished... Marx was an advocate of just such a program.

We owe a lot to Thomas Edison, if it wasn't for him, we'd be watching television by candlelight.

  1. When that picture was taken, most people in this country worked and carried their own weight and that of their families. I'd would wager if they could not pay cash on the barrelhead, they went on the tick. Still, they would pay their debts. Today I would bet that the majority of patrons in grocery stores in and around Reedsville pay with EBT cards or some other form of .gov vouchers. These are such sad times for the Republic. I fear things will get worse before they get better.

    1. Good thoughts. My father, who was a country doctor, sometimes got paid in eggs or nothing at all. Once in china, even. As you mentioned, people had honor then and did the best they could. Sadly lacking and purposely egged along by our commie government.
