  1. Interesting. I used to wear that same patch on my shoulder - 8th Infantry Division -"The Pathfinders Division" or, as we called it - "The crazy 8".

    1. I was in Mainz, W. Germany from 1986-88 at Robert E. Lee Barracks.

    2. Neat. Wonder if they still have a barracks with the General's name?

    3. I'm not sure it is even there, anymore. It was a kasserne with a brigade of Infantry and tankers stationed there. Our mission was to die in place in the Fulda Gap. Funny thing is, my assigned fighting position was the first one the Russians would have hit if things had gone ugly -- providing we even made it there with our old M113's.

The 8th is disbanded, from what I've been told, and with most of our military out of Germany, I'm sure Lee Barracks is no longer. When I get some time, maybe I can play on Google Earth and see if I can find it.

    4. Thanks. I remember and although it took me quite awhile, I found a house I used to live in while in Vietnam.

    5. I just found some current talk which I put up as a separate post. A developer has plans for it.
