Necessity is the mother of invention and New Zealand, far removed from the U.S. and British equipment sailing for Europe, had to get creative.  Lacking BREN or even Lewis guns for home defense, they turned on their bolt actions to create one of the strangest LMGs we’ve seen.

  1. I don't know whether, as an engineer, I should be impressed with the ingenuity shown in this modification or appalled by its Goldbergian complexity. Maybe both.

    I do admit to having an urge to fire up the CAD and see if I can figure out a way to make this contraption a bit more...elegant.
