The Audacity to Complain About Obamacare!

Via Angry Mike

 http://allfacebook.com/files/2010/09/Obama-death-prayer.jpg

THE Anthem Blue Cross representative who answered my call told me that there was a silver lining in the cancellation of my individual P.P.O. policy and the $5,400 annual increase that I would have to pay for the Affordable Care Act-compliant option: now if I have Stage 4 cancer or need a sex-change operation, I’d be covered regardless of pre-existing conditions. Never mind that the new provider network would eliminate coverage for my and my son’s long-term doctors and hospitals.

The Anthem rep cheerily explained that despite the company’s — I paraphrase — draconian rates and limited network, my benefits, which also include maternity coverage (handy for a 46-year-old), would “be actually much richer.”

I, of course, would be actually much poorer. And it was this aspect of the bum deal that, to my surprise, turned out to be a very unpopular thing to gripe about.

“Obamacare or Kafkacare?” I posted on Facebook as soon as I hung up with Anthem. I vented about the call and wrote that the president should be protecting the middle class, not making our lives substantially harder. For extra sympathy, I may have thrown in the fact that I’m a single mom. (O.K., I did.)

Then I sat back and waited for the love to pour in. Or at least the “like.” Lots of likes. After all, I have 1,037 Facebook friends. Surely, they’d commiserate.

Except that they didn’t.

Hugo Chavez-linked group crafted 'you can keep your plan'

obama-chavez

A little-known group called the Herndon Alliance has been the driving force in branding Obamacare to the public.

It was this group that advised President Obama to say Americans can maintain their choice of doctors and insurers under his health-care plan, WND has learned.

The Herndon Alliance is openly partnered with a number of radical groups, including MoveOn, the National Council of La Raza and a slew of George Soros-funded activist organizations.

It is also partnered with a “direct action” group dedicated to the teachings of radical Saul Alinsky.

Aaron Klein’s “Impeachable Offenses: The Case to Remove Barack Obama from Office” is available, autographed, at WND’s Superstore

The original research that informed Herndon’s blueprint for marketing Obamacare, WND has found, was concocted by the imaging guru for the late Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.

Spy found dead in padlocked bag 'probably an accident'

Via Your Crazy Uncle Bubba

Cue the conspiracy theorists rolling their eyes. Padlocked inside a sports bag in his own bathroom, London Police say the death of an MI6 spy and codebreaker was likely an accident.

Gareth Williams' body was found in 2010 after he didn't show up for work. Last year, a coroner ruled the 31-year-old man was unlawfully killed, but neither group seems overly confident with their findings. (Via The Independent)

"They've asked all the questions, they say, and they've got answers. But they don't know exactly what happened and they still don't know the precise circumstances of how Gareth Williams died." (Via Sky News)

Besides the more obvious and numerous conspiracy theories of why someone would want a British spy dead, many question how Williams could've pulled this off alone leaving no evidence behind.

Oregon Governor Kitzhaber DIspatches State Cop to Harass Journalist: "Do You Have a Gun On You Today?"

Via Bearing Arms

On his way to an event (to which the public was invited) Governor John Kitzhaber is peacefully approached by a Citizen Journalist. It seems Kitz's Obamacare web site has yet to sign up a single person. Rather than stopping to answer a few questions, Kitzhaber continues to avoid any negative media coverage of his healthcare disaster. Instead he dispatches one of his State Police bodyguards, Kyle Wilson, to harass and try to intimidate the reporter. When asked what law prevents him from approaching the Governor to ask a question, Wilson retorts: "Because I told you to." The reporter is forced to yell his questions in order to exercise his First Amendment Right.

Decorated Airborne Ranger Bill Connor Jumps in Race for Lindsey Graham’s Senate Seat

I first broke the news that Lt. Col. Bill Connor was considering running against Sen. Lindsey Graham. This week Bill Connor officially announced his candidacy at a Veteran's Day event for the Myrtle Beach Tea Party.

According to Connor's official Facebook page, he is a resident of Orangeburg, S.C. He is a decorated Army Reserve LT. Colonel (Airborne Ranger), and is an expert in counterinsurgency combat.

He served as Senior US Advisor to Helmand Province, Afghanistan where he received the Bronze Star. Connor is a graduate of The Citadel and the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Law.
He is a former candidate for S.C. Lieutenant Governor (making the runoff election in the Republican primary 2010.) Connor served as National Security Advisor for presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

Threats from a would-be marauder

 http://bearingarms.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/smith.jpg

If a man publicly proclaims his intention to come into your home, point a weapon at your wife and children, and steal everything you have when a certain set of criteria are met, are you required to wait for him to act before before defending yourself?

That’s one of many questions raised by the most recent episode of Doomsday Preppers and the introduction of Tyler Smith.

Smith, 29, runs a  Buckley, WA-based group that calls themselves “Spartan Survival.” In the event of a disaster, Smith and his merry band intend to attack other citizens and take what they need to survive by brute force.

I wish this was a joke, but it isn’t:

Insurers say Obama's offer on cancellations comes too late and may raise premiums.

America's Health Insurance Plans is the main industry trade group. The group says members have already set premiums for next year based on the assumption that many people with current individual coverage will shift into the new markets created under the health care law.

North Korea Preloads "Gone With the Wind" E-Book onto Official Tablet

Yes! North Korea never ceases to amaze me. Apparently, in lieu of iPads, North Korea offers an official internet-free tablet, the Samjiyon, which comes pre-loaded with state-approved games and books. One of the books preloaded onto the tablet is… drumroll please… Gone With the Wind. Classic!

And by the way, Gone With the Wind the movie is illegal in North Korea, though it is used by government officials to teach English to diplomats. (Why do they need diplomats?) This explains the curious habit North Korean officials have for quoting lines from the movie during negotiations. Telegraph reports:

The movie, forbidden to the general public but beloved by the former dictator and movie buff, Kim Jong Il, is sometimes used in English-language programs to train elite government officials. North Korean negotiators meeting with U.S. envoys would occasionally quote from it, once replying to American criticism with the quote (which perfectionists might note is slightly off from the book and the movie): “Frankly, Scarlett, I don’t give a damn.”

Eighteen Points?! Ten Year Old Abby’s First Hunting Season

0922130958

“Eighteen point Abby.” That’s what we’ve been calling our daughter. After dutifully taking the hunter safety course offered last spring, my girl (according to Michigan’s DNR) officially became a full-fledged hunter. She may have been more excited to get her first hunting license than she was to get her first American Girl doll. She hung it on the refrigerator, looking at it every so often, counting the months, weeks, and then days to the fall youth hunt. September arrived. And then, the 21st. She woke up early, put on her scent-free clothes, and headed to the woods with her Dad. She was primed and ready. Months of target practice and monitoring the deer cam were finally going to pay off!

But, not on Saturday. She came home empty handed. Undaunted, she tried again! Sunday dawned and with it the prospect of another chance, one more shot.

“Braying for Secession”

 http://therionorteline.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/192426_363689363721807_1909070319_o.jpg

A day ago I caught a quip about secession that came, maybe coincidentally, after Soups and Knives where I write about the topic.  I don’t think the intent was malicious.
And people are braying for secession, as if those Blue areas will never choke them off economically, starve them like Ukrainians, and then move in and take those precious guns from cold, dead, famine-clenched hands before re-claiming the valuable land.
On one hand, donkeys bray. It’s annoying.  I might be offended if I had read it with only that context in mind.  But on second thought, donkeys are natural livestock protectors.  They bray at danger, alert other livestock, and have also been known to take on predating coyotes.  I can live with that.

But that’s not the most offensive thing I read.   Let me share with you the best possible response to the above statement.  Tom Baugh, in reference to those Blue areas choking out secessionists, was the first to point out that the majority of food comes from the breadbasket of America — the red states.
Well, that would be a neat trick, given where the food comes from and what forms the foundation of any economy (hint: it isn’t iPoodles or hedge funds or cubicle jobs or subdivision service industries). I think I said elsewhere that malevolent fedgov overreach is the best marketing a secessionist could hope for. Having DC and NYC trying to enforce their will in this way, particularly to take food to feed their own populations who will be the first to begin starving will be a game-changer.

NC: Student group hosts gun education event

Guns

“If someone has a strong opinion about something, and plans to have that opinion affect law, I want that opinion to be informed,” Jones said. “I don’t care if you walk away from the day with a stronger hatred of guns, or if it makes you a gun-sling ing, cowboy-action-com peting, second-amendment-quoting gun-nut. I just want you to know what you are talking about when there is a discourse about firearms in the U.S.”

*************************************

In an effort to both combat stereotypical mentalities as sociated with guns and teach people how to properly use them, a group of students are hosting a gun education event Saturday.

“The purpose is to give people with little to no expe rience with firearms a chance to handle firearms in a safe and secure atmosphere,” said David Jones, a senior in phys ics and the host of the event.

Participants will meet on campus for a safety lecture and then carpool to a range to practice shooting.

Jones said the type of firearms they will use will vary and depend on the range but they will mostly handle handguns.

However, though the first half of the event is on cam pus, it is not a school-spon sored event.

“It’s not an NCSU event, so I’m not seeking NCSU autho rization,” Jones said. “It’s an event that I’m opening the doors to everyone to join in on through the Wolfpack Students Facebook page, so that along with the fact that I’m an NCSU student is the only affiliation to NCSU there is.”

Jones said that anyone is eligible to participate but that inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.

Tea Party PAC Targets 87 GOP 'Traitors'

Via avordvet

 https://s3.amazonaws.com/dk-production/images/33587/large/tea-party-activists_s640x347.jpg?1369322430

A tea party PAC is targeting 87 Republicans — including House Speaker John Boehner — who voted for the deal to end the government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling, saying it’ll look for challengers to the incumbent "traitors," BuzzFeed reported Wednesday.

The Tea Party Leadership Fund, a PAC affiliated with TheTeaParty.net, calls its fundraising push "Primaries for Traitors Fund," BuzzFeed reported.

"From our perspective, we see this as a signature vote. You can’t be a conservative and vote to raise the debt ceiling," said the fund’s treasurer, Dan Backer.

"I recognize there are some places where voters may actually think that was the right vote. And there may be places where you have an incumbent who wins with 90 percent of the vote every time and there’s not a credible challenger. I recognize that, but we’re certainly going to do our best."

Obamacare is Already Almost Broke

Cumulative Government Spending to Implement Obamacare, FY2010 through FY2014

In 2010, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services was set up with a slush fund of one billion dollars to support the implementation of Obamacare. If we go by the department's summary of its Fiscal Year 2014 budget proposal, it would appear to have already burned through $811 million through 30 September 2013, the end of the federal government's 2013 fiscal year:

Sailor who killed rapist released: Served 17 years for death of 'gay' Hispanic newspaper publisher

 AvenolStatePrison

Thirty-five-year-old Steve Nary on Wednesday was released from Avenal State Prison in California after serving more than 17 years in the state system.

Nary has been in a California prison every single day of his life since March 1996 after he was convicted of killing a “gay” Hispanic newspaper publisher the then-teen said was raping him.

As an 18-year-old sailor on leave in San Francisco, Nary was lured from a co-ed dance club to the apartment of a “gay” predator, 53-year-old Juan Pifarre, under false pretenses, according to reports.

Nary’s memory on what happened has always been imperfect. He wrote from prison about Pifarre’s attempt to rape him that, “I felt stuck. I could not speak. I could not move, and I could not do anything. He just kept trying and trying over and over. In fact it brings me to tears as I write this because I have avoided this image for so long.”

Nary had no idea he was describing the precise reaction of a person who had been slipped a date rape drug, then all the rage among sexual predators. Nary’s public defender did not even raise the possibility at the trial.

“Please, stop,” the lanky, 18-year-old sailor begged as he struggled through a paralyzing stupor.

But Pifarre would not.

Rep. Olson Introduces Articles of Impeachment Against Eric Holder

Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) has introduced an Articles of Impeachment resolution against Attorney General Eric Holder for his role in Operation Fast and Furious and other scandals of President Barack Obama’s administration.

Seven congressman have signed onto the resolution thus far in addition to Olson. They are Reps. Larry Bucshon (R-IN), Blake Farenthold (R-TX), Phil Roe (R-TN), Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), Roger Williams (R-TX), Ted Yoho (R-FL), and Randy Weber (R-TX).

The Articles of Impeachment has four different sections. The first calls for Holder’s official removal because of his failure to comply with congressional subpoenas relating to Operation Fast and Furious. Holder has been voted on a bipartisan basis into both criminal and civil contempt of Congress for his failure to comply with the Fast and Furious subpoenas from House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA).

Fort Drum Drone Down - New York Suspends All Reaper Flights

Via Steve

Following the FAA's warning that over 7,500 unmanned drones will be in US Airspace in the next five years, we thought news of yet another domestic drone down was noteworthy. Just a couple fo months ago we reported the crash (and self-destruction) of 2 drones in Florida, and now officials at the 174th Attack Wing suspended all Reaper drone flights in Central New York Tuesday after one of the unmanned aircraft crashed into Lake Ontario about 12 miles from the eastern shore during a routine training flight. As WNYF TV reports, the drone - one of four based at Fort Drum - was operated remotely from near Syracuse. Officials are investigating the crash but added, in some hope of reassurance, "the mission was going as advertised, up to the point where we did lose control of the airplane."

President's Obamacare Fix: Delay Insurance Cancellations

Bowing to pressure, President Barack Obama on Thursday announced changes to his healthcare law that would give insurance companies the option to keep offering consumers plans that would otherwise be canceled.

The administrative changes are good for just one year, though senior administration officials said they could be extended if problems with the law persist. Obama announced the changes at the White House.

Obama has been under enormous pressure from congressional Democrats to give ground on the cancellation issue under the health care overhaul, a program likely to be at the center of next year's midterm elections for control of the House and Senate.

Judge: Release 'Internet kill switch' plans

 DigitalCode

A federal judge has ruled that the U.S. government’s “Internet kill switch,” a plan to deactivate wireless communications networks in a crisis, is not protected by secrecy laws and must be disclosed to the public.

The ruling on SOP 303 – the Department of Homeland Security’s Standard Operating Procedure – comes from U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg in Washington.

The judge ordered the DHS to turn over SOP 303 to the Electronic Privacy Information Center, which brought the Freedom of Information Act case, within 30 days.

Boasberg ordered his actions stayed until it’s determined whether the government will appeal.

Divers recover part of CSS Georgia

Via Robert

 File:CSS Georgia ironclad.jpg

Navy divers, working with salvage operations teams for the Army Corps of Engineers, have recovered 64-square-foot section of a Civil War ironclad warship from the bottom of the Savannah River in Georgia.

The Savannah Morning News reports that divers lifted the 5,000-pound section of the CSS Georgia during a test operation Tuesday. The removal of the shipwreck is part of a multi-million dollar plan to to deepen the Savannah River channel.

The 120-foot-long CSS Georgia was built in 1862 to protect Savannah during the Civil War. The ship had armor forged from railroad iron, but its engines proved too weak to propel the ship's 1,200-ton frame against river currents.

Western Civilization Undone By Marxist Multiculturalism?

Via Billy

 http://www.mrconservative.com/files/2013/04/10x590.jpg

It certainly looks that way. Let’s consider the prophetic words of Samuel Huntington, from his 1996 book ‘The Clash of Civilizations’ -

Historically, American national identity has defined culturally by the heritage of Western civilization and politically by by the principles of the American Creed on which Americans overwhelmingly agree: liberty, democracy, individualism, equality before the law, constitutionalism, private property, In the late 20th century, both components of American identity have come under concentrated and sustained onslaught from a small but influential number of intellectuals and publicists. In the name of multiculturalism, they have attacked the identification of he United States with Western civilization, denied the existence of a common American culture, and promoted racial, ethnic, and other subnational cultural identities and groupings.

The pride and opportunity of American citizenship has given way to a multi-cultural bias fueled by agenda-driven progressives. A complete anti-US sentiment, heavy on loathing and resentment, has developed into a prominent belief system right here in our own country.
