Nurseries of Treason

The occupation forces in New Orleans in 1862 took control of local schools to ensure Northern doctrines were taught to the young. Some 43 years later, the Japanese forcibly annexed Korea and instituted educational reforms that forbid any language other than Japanese, and Japanese teachers were assigned to all schools.  No schools could be established without Japanese permission, former heroes of the Korean people were suppressed, and the economy was exploited for the benefit of Japan.

“With secession, [New Orleans] school curriculum had undergone some changes in both public and private schools. Confederate history had been substituted for United States history, and classes in vocal singing included renditions of “Dixie” and “The Bonnie Blue Flag” in place of the “Star-Spangled Banner” and other musical reminders of the city’s  past political affiliations.

Though the change to the new order had been quite rapid in 1861, the old order did not regain its former popularity immediately in 1862 [after Northern occupation].  The Federal anthems were slow in reappearing in the classes . . . indeed, when young Clara Solomon attended a teachers’ meeting at the West Elementary School at the end of May, 1862, she reported that the teachers’ voices were “almost drowned by the screeches of the B[onnie] B[lue] F[lag] and other melodies from the various rooms.”

And the now Unionist Delta [newspaper], recapitulating later in the summer, charged that in addition to this form of musical treason, pupils were taught “low songs”; young ladies in the “higher departments” learned to refer to the Federal troops as “Yankee scum”; and teachers and pupils alike wasted school time in “repeating every idle tale that could feed the hopes of rebellion” . . .  “Most shocking of all, however, was the revelation that the directors of the school system had continued to pay the salaries of male teachers absent in the Confederate service.

The school year was not yet out when [the enemy commander ordered] loyal citizens to swear allegiance to the United States . . . [and Clara Solomon] expressed the hope that parents would refuse to send their children to Union teachers [as] few teachers could afford to refuse the oath.

Under [military occupation] the city’s school system was unified, and a single course of instruction was prescribed for all the municipal districts.  English alone was to be the language of instruction, and new textbooks, imported from the North . . . insured politically pure reading matter for the pupils.  The purity of the teaching staff was assured by the provision that all teachers be required to give proof that they had taken the oath of allegiance before their appointment.

A board of visitors for each [school] district was empowered to screen applicants for teaching positions, thus making it possible to select only those of unimpeachable loyalty.

However, intimations by Yankee visitors that New Orleans school children were not naturally inclined to model deportment were resented by at least one Southern mother.  Answering . . .  [these charges in September 1862 Delta], “Dorcas” snapped:

“Every Southern mother knows herself to be fully qualified to “rear her children in the way they should go” without the gratuitous and generous assistance of these Yankee pedagogues. It is a well-established fact that Southern children are possessed of a purity of though and delicacy of feeling superior to that of any in the world . . . “

Florida: No ObamaCare 'Navigators' Allowed in County Health Clinics

Florida state officials have barred ObamaCare navigators from showing up at county health departments. Governor Rick Scott, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty met in August to discuss privacy issues surrounding the $54 million dollar government program.

After concluding Florida citizens shouldn't be giving sensitive information to people who know little or nothing about insurance coverage, Deputy Health Secretary C. Meade Grigg issued the order to 60 health departments across the state. Clinic employees can hand out brochures to consumers but only if requested. From the Insurance Commissioner:

Why 2014 Shapes Up to be Another Tea Party Year

The last year has been highly informative for Americans who have been looking for information on hypocrisy, shabby intellectualism, broken promises, opportunism, populist dreck, and IPhones.

Since almost the moment Obama celebrated his re-election with Republican leader John Boehner by proposing to raise taxes on all of us, God has played an enormous practical joke on liberals.

In only ways He could, God has shown that liberals are wrong. Not just wrong, but really, really, seriously wrong.

Demented even. And yeah, I’m talking about Ezra Klein.

No, the world really doesn’t work the way liberals want, they’ve found out, and what’s more, liberal leaders and scribblers know it. They have known it for years.

Liberals have, in 50 years, morphed from the idealism of Camelot to the reality-game show hostness of Al Sharpton.

It’s not even just that they are wrong, it’s that at the top of the liberal pyramid they are liars, intellectually bankrupt, the moral and intellectual equivalents of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, spreading a gospel which not only they don’t understand, but the they exploit for their own, and no one else’s gain.

It’s been little less than a year for people who enthusiastically voted for Obama in 2012 to find this out.

And what liberals miss in being wrong on specifics, they make up in volume.

So let’s make a list, shall we?

Obama: Just Because We Backed Down on Syria Doesn't Mean We Won't 'Strike Iran'

On Sunday, President Obama joined ABC’s This Week to discuss the threat of Iranian nuclear development, and emphasized that he had not taken force off the table: “I think what the Iranians understand is that the nuclear issue is a far larger issue for us than the chemical weapons issue, that the threat…against Israel that a nuclear Iran poses is much closer to our core interests. My suspicion is that the Iranians recognize they shouldn’t draw a lesson that we haven’t struck [Syria] to think we won’t strike Iran.” Obama added that Iran should learn from Syria that diplomatic solutions are possible: “My view is that if you have both a credible threat of force, combined with a rigorous diplomatic effort, that, in fact you can…strike a deal.

Obama’s contention that Iran should believe in a credible American response to its nuclear program comes just weeks after Obama backed down on any military response to Syrian use of chemical weapons in favor of a Russian-brokered non-deal.

Kentucky Trial Balloon: RFID Tracking Chips on All Guns

Via Michael

http://i2.wp.com/nationalreport.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/RFIDGUNCHIP.png

 One traitorous bill after another.

In a controversial move today, Kentucky law makers slipped a bill through the senate making the installation of a tracking device or “Weapon RFID System” in firearms mandatory by state law.

The program’s preliminary launch will be in Clark County, Kentucky, specifically in the city of Winchester.

Winchester is probably best known for spawning the late Helen Thomas and their 1998 contribution to the Guinness Book Of World Records for most underage tobacco users per capita in the United States.

Nestled in the eastern portion of the blue state, the city of Winchester also is home to several academies of higher learning and is thought to be more intelligent and liberal than the rest of the state.

Kentucky itself boasts one of the highest gun ownership rates in the country.

Officials say they hope the bill will catch on so they can push to have it implemented nationwide.

Global warming is just HALF what we said: World's top climate scientists admit computers got the effects of greenhouse gases wrong

graphic

A leaked copy of the world’s most authoritative climate study reveals scientific forecasts of imminent doom were drastically wrong.

The Mail on Sunday has obtained the final draft of a report to be published later this month by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the ultimate watchdog whose massive, six-yearly ‘assessments’ are accepted by environmentalists, politicians and experts as the gospel of climate science.

They are cited worldwide to justify swingeing fossil fuel taxes and subsidies for ‘renewable’ energy.

Yet the leaked report makes the extraordinary concession that the world has been warming at only just over half the rate claimed by the IPCC in its last assessment,  published in 2007.

NC: GRNC Alert 9-15-13 MEETING DATE CORRECTION: CITY THUMBS NOSE AT GUN OWNERS

CITY CONSIDERS ILLEGAL GUN BAN

Concealed handgun supporters must be vigilant and fight local attempts to flout improvements to concealed carry!

As you recall, when GRNC successfully fought to pass concealed carry in state and municipal parks in 2011, some city governments opposed to the changes adopted ordinances with over-broad interpretations of what constitutes a "recreational facility" where they could still ban guns. Given that HB 937, which becomes law on Oct. 1, expands concealed carry into restaurants, campuses and into more areas of parks, you can expect more local government resistance.

The most egregious offender has been Winston-Salem, which effectively continues to ban guns on greenways, lakes and entire parks. In response, GRNC has taken two actions: First, our non-profit arm, Rights Watch International, filed a lawsuit against the city. Second, we went back to the legislature and successfully narrowed the definition of "recreational facility" such that local governments could no longer ban guns on athletic fields (except during organized events), or on playgrounds, greenways and walking trails, or open fields.

Winston-Salem stonewalls on lawsuit & continues to flout the law

In the Rights Watch lawsuit against Winston-Salem over its illegal parks ordinance, city lawyers are trying to stonewall on the discovery stage, refusing to provide the plaintiffs with:
  • The identity of each person involved in drafting the illegal Ordinance.
  • Documents written by the City and its employees relating to the City’s definition of: “playground, athletic facility, athletic field, and swimming pool” in the Ordinance.
  • Documents related to the research, development, drafting, and debate on the Ordinance.
  • Police reports for crimes occurring at the parks, greenways, lakes, picnic shelters, and recreational facilities in the past three years.
For a legal update on Winston-Salem's efforts to subvert your will, CLICK HERE or go to: http://grnc.org/documents/PT-Writeup-on-Winston-Salem-lawsuit.pdf.

In its most recent and attempt to defy the will of voters, the Winston-Salem City Council is once again plotting to undermine our newly improved parks carry law. At the bottom of the alert is a hand-wringing letter from council member Molly Leight to her constituents, and then GRNC President Paul Valone's response.

Rocker Gene Simmons: If Tebow Wore a Burqa, Liberals Would Defend Him

Via WiscoDave

KISS rocker Gene Simmons has never been afraid to express his opinion. Although he voted for President Obama in 2008, he quickly admitted the move was a mistake and has repeatedly berated the President for his stance on Israel. In 2012, Simmons went on MSNBC to declare Mitt Romney has more experience creating jobs and said Obama is a "piss poor president" as far as he's concerned.

Now, in an interview about sports and music with Radio.com, Simmons is defending professional football player Tim Tebow against attacks for his religious beliefs.

NC: Unarmed man, possibly looking for help after wreck, shot dead by police

Via Horace and Christina

Officer Randall Kerrick.

An unarmed man who may have been looking for help after a vehicle wreck was shot and killed by a police officer Saturday as he ran toward him, police said. The officer was later charged with voluntary manslaughter.

A statement issued by police said officers responded to a breaking and entering call on the city's east side around 2:30 a.m. Someone had knocked on the door of a residence, and the homeowner opened the door, thinking it was her husband. When she discovered it wasn't, she closed the door and called 911.

When officers arrived, they found Jonathan A. Ferrell, 24, a short distance from the home, and he matched a description given by the homeowner, police said.

The statement said officers approached Ferrell to investigate the original call. Ferrell ran toward the officers and was hit with a Taser. Ferrell continued to run toward police when Officer Randall Kerrick fired his weapon, hitting Ferrell several times. Ferrell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a project that attempts to standardize various K-12 curricula around the country. By design, American students subject to the Common Core will experience a reading regime that focuses heavily on nonfiction.

There will be a slice of fiction here and there, though. One such slice for sophomores at Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Ariz. is an utterly minor 1992 novel called “Dreaming in Cuban” by Cristina Garcia, reports Eagnews.org.

An unidentified parent claimed in an email to Eagnews that “Dreaming in Cuban” was assigned to everyone in one of her son’s 10th-grade classes. In addition, students read the book out loud during class.
