Found in the Sands of Normandy: 69 Years Later, D-Day Veteran Recovers Item Lost on the Beaches

Via Daily Timewaster

Maybe my mind is gone, as my mother would say,:) but all I remember is that my dog tag had my name, religion and blood type.......?
Last September, Stéphane Lamache, director of the Airborne Museum of Sainte-Mère-Eglise, in Normandy, in northern France, was taking a walk on the dunes of Agon-Coutainville with friends. It was a cloudless day. A small piece of metal was sticking out from the surface of the sand.
The historian immediately recognized that it was a dog tag, the metal identification worn around the neck by American soldiers on D-day.
Thus writes Benoît Hopquin in a un article pour Le Monde from the beaches of Normandy (translated by Worldcrunch).
On it were engraved the soldier's name – James Kelson -- his blood type, religion, and next of kin: Elsie Kelson, as well as an address in Washington DC.

NC! 7-year-old faces 2 felony charges for shooting BB gun

My comment posted above:

It's a BB gun, goodness, gracious, sakes alive honey chile' bless your heart. My father was blind in one eye from one of his many BB gun battles and I am very fortune mine were missed.:) All you little, pathetic Collectivists, get over it.

7-year-old faces 2 felony charges for shooting BB gun

He looks like a typical 7-year-old boy, but on Tuesday night, Sam Grant is facing charges that many adults never will.

He is charged with two felonies for something that happened when his mother turned her back for just a second. His parents told Eyewitness News that they're outraged.

"We are both just shocked. We have been in a state of shock over this," said Ray Robbins.

Sam's parents said this scenario began in February when Sam was playing outside with his BB
gun. They said he began shooting at an abandoned house right across the street, but instead, Sam shot two cars as they were passing by.

"State Control": What the UN Firearms Treaty is All About

White House mouthpiece Jay Carney says that the Obama administration will “conduct a thorough review” of the UN’s newly enacted gun control pact “to determine whether to sign the treaty.” The suspense is hardly unbearable, given that the UN treaty would codify the proposition that national governments should have a monopoly on weapons.
The announced objective of the treaty is to regulate the sale and transfer of small arms and light weapons, a category that includes all civilian-owned firearms. According to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, the treaty “will help to keep warlords, pirates, terrorists, criminals and their like from acquiring deadly arms.”
Well, actually, it would not. Nothing in the dense and nearly unreadable text of the 15-page treaty will prevent member states from arming terrorists and criminals. Article 2, Section 3 specifies that nothing in the treaty will “apply to the international movement of conventional arms by, or on behalf of, a State Party for its use provided that the conventional arms remain under that State Party’s ownership.”

Article 11, which deals with “Diversion” of weaponry, requires that parties to the treaty work to “mitigate the risk” that weapons would fall into the hands of criminals or terrorists, and that they “share relevant information … on effective measures to address diversion.” But nothing in the language forbids such diversions from States to “non-state actors” – a point that was made, ironically, by the Communist government of North Korea when it opposed the treaty

NC: Mecklenburg Co. Parks Carry Restrictions Rescheduled Again - Update

Thanks to your emails to the Mecklenburg County Commissioners and continued discussions between GRNC leadership and certain commissioners, the commissioners discussed and debated the proposed parks ordinance concealed carry restrictions for just over an hour Tuesday night. The commissioners ended up in a draw (4-4 with one commissioner absent -- Ridenhour (R), James (R), Bentley (R), and Cotham (D) voting correctly) Tuesday night on a compromise motion after failing to get a second on a motion to eliminate altogether the optional parks ordinance concealed carry restrictions in "recreational facilities". Your emails in the past couple of weeks and the speakers at the meeting all sparked the attention of the commissioners and triggered the lengthy debate. Your efforts made a positive difference and were mentioned several times by the commissioners!

After the deadlock, the commissioners directed the county attorney, in consultation with the parks director, to bring to one of the next meetings the original proposed revised parks ordinance with restrictions, and at least one other draft with limited restrictions as proposed by Commissioner Matthew Ridenhour (R-District 5), who has championed the elimination or reduction of the concealed carry restrictions.

In response to the Tuesday meeting, and in preparation for the next discussion, you need to take action again to let the commissioners know you are following their activities, and to let them know your position. Mecklenburg County residents should be sure to follow-up as described below, and emails by all supporters across NC would be greatly appreciated and add to the effect! We have their attention -- we must keep the pressure on!

Jefferson Davis and Others Have Made a Nation
President Jefferson Davis with his son Joseph and Jim Limber Davis.

The leaders of the Republican political machine in Washington “were annoyed and offended because Europe ventured to pronounce the condition of affairs in North America to be a state of war, which they affirmed to be only an insurrection.” The South, as Republicans and a few War Democrats saw it, was engaged in domestic insurrection inflamed by insurgents rather than forming a more perfect union with the consent of the governed.
Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman
North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission
"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Jefferson Davis and Others Have Made a Nation:

[Earl Russell said at Newcastle], “But I cannot help asking myself frequently, as I trace the progress of the contest, to what good end can it tend? Supposing the contest to end in the reunion of the different States; supposing that the South should agree to enter again the Federal Union with all the rights guaranteed to her by the Constitution, should we not then have debated over again the fatal question of slavery?....

But, on the other hand, supposing that the Federal Government completely conquer and subdue the Southern States – supposing that be the result after a long, military conflict and some years of Civil War – would not the national prosperity of that country be destroyed?....

If such are the unhappy results which alone can be looked forward to from the reunion of these different parts of the North American States, is it not then our duty…is it not the duty of men who wish to preserve to perpetuity the sacred inheritance of liberty, to endeavour to see whether this sanguinary conflict cannot be put to an end?

In a speech delivered in the house of Lords, February 5th, 1863, Earl Russell said: -- “There is one thing, however, which I think may be the result of the struggle, and which, to my mind, would be a great calamity – that is, the subjugation of the South by the North….”

Mr. W.E. Gladstone, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, said in a public speech at Newcastle, October 7, 1862: -- “We may have our own opinions about slavery; we may be for or against the South; but there is no doubt that Jefferson Davis and other leaders of the South have made an army. They are making, it appears, a navy, and they have made what is more than either – they have made a nation. (Loud cheers.)….We may anticipate with certainty the success of the Southern States so far as regards their separation from the North. (Hear, hear.)…”

[Mr. Gladstone stated in the House of Commons on 30 June 1863]…Why, sir, we must desire a cessation of the war….We do not believe that the restoration of the American Union by force is attainable. I believe that the opinion of this country is unanimous upon that subject….[and] believe that the public opinion of this country bears very strongly on another matter….whether the emancipation of the negro race is an object that can be legitimately pursued by means of coercion and bloodshed….I do not believe that a more fatal error was ever committed than when men – of high intelligence I grant….came to the conclusion that the emancipation of the negro was to be sought, although they could only travel to it by a sea of blood. I do not think there is any real or serious ground for doubt as to the issue of this contest.”

DHS: Are You Willing to Die for Your King? I Am Willing to Die for Mine.

They have labeled me a terrorist. This is the same Dean Garrison whose Father was a well know pacifist? They say the apple does not fall far from the tree and they may be right. There are very few things in this world that would make me want to go to war and kill another human being, but we all have our limits.
I am a conservative Christian who happens to believe in my Rights protected by the Constitution. These rights are only protected by this Constitution but granted by God. I am sorry if bringing up God makes some uncomfortable but this country was founded on His principles of equality, freedom and the rights of the individual. I do not bow to your king. I bow to no one because I am an American.

Americans are fighters. We come by that trait honestly. We had to fight for our very freedom from a tyrannical government. Many of us have had to fight for our freedoms from this government. Let us not forget the Native Americans, African-Americans, and for that matter, the women who have had to scratch and claw and fight for their own liberties. This government has never been perfect, but when injustice is present it is our duty to be prepared to fight to solve those inequities. This is who we are. We live by the “dangerous liberty” that Jefferson spoke of and not the “peaceful slavery.”

So am I a domestic terrorist?

Mayors for Illegal Activities: Another member of Bloomberg anti-gun group gets arrested

Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin leaves federal court / AP

Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) member and Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin was arrested yesterday for allegedly accepting bribes from an undercover FBI agent, as part of a wide-ranging federal corruption probe that netted six New York state politicians.

Jasmin and her deputy mayor, Joseph Desmaret, allegedly accepted financial benefits from a federal law enforcement agent posing as a real estate developer, in exchange for her pledge to support the developer’s company, according to a statement released by the FBI.

“In exchange for her vote awarding the real estate project to the company, Jasmin demanded a partnership interest in the company,’” said the FBI. “When the [undercover agent] later suggested that Jasmin have a 20 percent stake in the project, she replied, ‘Partnership is 50-50, right?’”

“[Jasmin] also coached two other individuals, whom she understood were associates of the [undercover agent] and who would pose as competing developers, but who were actually undercover FBI agents, on how to make their presentation to the Village Board. In addition, both Jasmin and Desmaret agreed to steer to the UC’s company the New York State funding for road work that Smith agreed to help the CW and the UC obtain,” continued the press release.

Jasmin and Desmaret both face up to 20 years in prison for five and six counts of mail fraud, respectively.

America’s Death Zones: Where NOT To Be When It Hits the Fan

Via  Bill

As the potential for a globally destabilizing event becomes ever more probable, many concerned Americans are starting to wonder where they’d go if the worst were to happen.

To help answer that question, we can start by identifying the areas of the country to avoid.

The following map of the United States takes into account all of the gun related deaths since the Sandy Hook school shooting. You’ll likely notice that there is one common denominator. The majority of the violence has occurred in major metropolitan areas, with some incidents spreading into outlying ex-urban and rural areas. As of this writing 2,244 people have been killed since December of 2012.

If this is the state of our nation during relative peacetime and perceived prosperity, imagine what it’ll look like in the midst of financial, economic or political turmoil.

Americans living east of the Mississippi River will likely experience the brunt of it. But anyone residing in and around any major U.S. city will, likewise, have a tough road ahead of them.
If you live in one of these red zones, you’d better plan accordingly:

 Mapping the Dead

As you may have guessed, the overwhelming factor in determining your chances of survival during a wide-scale regional or national emergency will be population density, a topic that has been extensively covered by Strategic Relocation specialist Joel Skousen:
…every crisis that threatens, even a local crisis, can turn exponential because of close proximity to people who cannot help themselves. Even good people panic in a crisis…
Wherever we find large groups of people, when crisis strikes we will also find the worst that mankind has to offer – rioting, looting, starvation and violence.

The Great DHS Ammunition Stockpile Myth

Via avordvet

There are dozens of articles hyping government purchases of ammunition over the last nine months. After spending weeks researching this topic, this is a collection of commonly held myths that are based more on panic than fact.

With the recent release of a letter from the Department of Homeland Security to Senator Coburn, the numbers we calculated independently seem to corroborate the narrative coming from DHS. The concerns surrounding DHS stockpiling ammunition are nothing but more fear-mongering and largely unwarranted. For once, here are the facts to set the record straight:

MYTH: DHS purchased 750 million rounds of several different types of ammunition in August 2012.
FACT: The DHS contract never stated 750 million rounds at any time. It is a five year contract with a maximum purchase of 70 million rounds over the life of the contract. Military Times recently addressed this issue as well.

MYTH: DHS purchased an unprecedented 450 million rounds of .40 S&W 180gr hollow point bullets in 2012.

FACT: This is a standard five year contract that follows a historical purchasing pattern of DHS. Furthermore, it is not an “unprecedented” purchase by DHS. In fact, it is not even a purchase by DHS but by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Starting in 2003, orders of 50 million and 225 million .40 S&W hollow point ammunition totaling 275 million rounds were purchased. After the expiration of the five year contracts in 2008, ICE purchased an additional 575 million rounds of .40 S&W hollow point ammunition with two separate orders (200 million and 375 million). Now, with the expiration of the 2008 contract, ICE has ordered a maximum of 450 million rounds over the next five years.

Why nearly all state gun control laws being passed today will soon be null and void

Via Michael  & NC Renegade

Gun control zealots currently think they are winning. Connecticut has just passed a wildly unconstitutional new gun control law, and it was preceded by New York's similarly-outrageous assault on private gun ownership liberties. Colorado, Maryland and California are all either working on gun control bills or have already passed various measures that are blatantly illegal in America.

What gun grabbers do not yet realize is that there are three powerful reasons why their gun control laws will soon be null and void:

Reason #1) Many laws will be struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court already has a track record of striking down the several key gun control laws that have been put in place by cities or states.

For example, in District of Columbia v Heller, the Supreme Court struck down a D.C. law that criminalized the possession of guns in the home for the purpose of self defense.

In McDonald v. City of Chicago, the Supreme Court further confirmed that the Second Amendment right to "keep and bear arms" is guaranteed to individuals under the Due Process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. In other words, any law that denies a citizen the right to keep and bear arms is simultaneously a denial of their Fourteenth Amendment rights... and is therefore unconstitutional and illegal in America.

These two landmark decisions, if correctly interpreted by the Supreme Court when challenges rise from recent gun restrictions in New York, Connecticut and elsewhere, will cause those laws to also be struck down as unconstitutional.

Reason #2) A Supreme Court decision would expose the illegitimacy of the court and reveal the outright criminality of the federal government

A sniper in the wild
  • Is this the way our union ends?
  • Politicians up to and including the President and his Executive branch officials are waging a war of disinformation and outright lies to undermine the rights of the American people.
  • The mainstream media is actively colluding with these politicians to wage a war of disinformation and outright lies regarding the role of firearms in crimes, firearms and firearms laws, and slandering the nearly 100 million Americans that are part of the firearms-owning community.
  • This collusion between these groups (which I’ve argued is one incestuous group, dubbed the “polimedia”) have led to the passage of the most draconian gun laws in history in the states of New York, Connecticut, Maryland, and Colorado. The polimedia intends to spread to other states and the entire Republic if at all possible. This is causing considerable economic harm, and dramatically restricting Constitutional and God-given liberties, creating a motive.
The Alinsky tactics celebrated and used by the radical Leftists from the President down to the lowliest media stenographer are excellent at attacking law-abiding organizations and groups, but they have a fatal flaw; Alinsky tactics only work when they are used by the corrupt to target the equally corrupt. These vicious Marxist political tactics may run the distinct risk of triggering an unpredictable, potentially violent response when applied against the citizenry itself.

It is not easy to rouse the American public to take up arms against government, and that is as it should be. The overwhelming majority of American citizens are very much like the Colonial citizens of the 1760s and 1770s; they wish merely to be left alone to live their lives without government interference.
We have no desire to initiate conflict, and will avoid it if at all possible. We have always been slow to anger.

Federal judge rules morning-after pill must be available for women of all ages

A federal judge ruled Friday that the morning-after pill known as Plan B must be made available over the counter for women of all ages.

The decision on the controversial subject comes after lengthy legal battles over who should have access to the pill and at what age. The Justice Department did not say whether it would appeal.

The Food and Drug Administration had initially decided to allow the emergency pill to be available for young teens. But Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius overruled the FDA in late 2011, and the agency limited availability without a prescription to women 17 and older.

The decision Friday by U.S. District Judge Edward Korman ordered the FDA to make the pill, commonly referred to as the abortion pill, available for all ages. The decision means that unless the FDA appeals and is granted a stay, by this time next month a teenager 16 or under could walk into a local pharmacy and buy the pill off the shelf.

Walter Jones: I Need Your Feedback!

Jones starts book project on Iraq War

In June 2005, Congressman Walter B. Jones publicly changed his position on the Iraq War, which he had approved via resolution on the House floor less than three years earlier.
Now the Republican from Farmville, whose district includes this county, is working on a book detailing his journey since the war began brewing, including his vote and the backlash he faced from his Republican constituents when he sided with Democrats on a timetable for its conclusion.

The book project, like others undertaken by Rep. Jones, could be an act of penance for voting in favor of the war in October 2002.

The congressman said his heart told him to vote against the resolution to go to war. He even told his chief of staff, Glenn Downs, prior to the vote that he didn’t believe the war was justified. Nor did he believe Saddam Hussein, the former dictator of Iraq, was responsible for the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, or had weapons of mass destruction.

Improve your odds

As an aside, I'd like to note that the woman shown in the photos was kidnapped at 19 following an armed robbery of her workplace. The druggie criminal promised to rape her. She managed to get the kidnapper's pistol from him, couldn't make it work (turned out it was an Airsoft clone) and beat him with the inert gun until she could get out of the car. The perp got arrested later that day.
