West Virginia: Joe Manchin has sold you out

WRSA
VERBATIM

 From a RTC Potomac vet:

Ladies and gentlemen of the WVCDL and West Virginia:

Today, around 3PM I met with Senator Manchin. In any conversation with a person of that level of power, there are two conversations that occur at once. The first is the obvious and direct meaning of what is spoken. The second conversation is the meaning between the lines. In this case, neither is good. West Virginia, in my opinion, you have been sold out.

First, let’s talk about the direct conversation. It’s very simple. Senator Manchin supports a three-pronged approach that includes universal background checks, including private sales. He supports mental health-care reform. And he supports magazine capacity limits, and possibly other restrictions.
Further, he stated to me directly, that he believes 75% of West Virginians, like him, believe that the only purposes behind gun ownership and the second amendment are hunting and recreational shooting. He told me that defense is not an angle he considers or believes in, and that is specifically in the context of defense of self, and defense from tyranny. Perhaps now you understand why I’ve been too angry to update you on the results of the meeting. In case you’re thinking of stopping here, it gets worse.

Senator Manchin told me what the media will do if Congress (including the US House of Representatives) fails to pass an AWB and/or mag restrictions. “They will one, by one, put up pictures of dead children. They will show the carnage.” Considering that tomorrow, President Obama will be exploiting children by dragging them on stage with him while he outlays his plan, this is not a huge leap. And these are the words of a United States senator. We, and I don’t mean just West Virginians, I mean Americans, must prepare for this. That is a direct quote. Verbatim. We need every talking head in the conservative media out in front of this. Make it happen. Share this post far and wide.

When it became clear that we were not going to find common ground, and that Senator Manchin intends to support magazine capacity limits and other pointless gun-control laws doomed to failure, I told the senator that we would be there. We would be at every single event. We would be at every fund-raiser. We would be there, and the content of our signs would not be pleasant.

And now we get to the second conversation. The one between the lines. When I said we would be there, he said, “there won’t be any events.”

This confused me. No politician runs for office without fund-raisers and events. And I have to admit, it wasn’t I that grasped the meaning of this. I want to be clear, that the following was not stated. This was deduced by a confidant of mine, and I think she is correct. Manchin was honest. There will be no events. Why would a US Senator not need funds? This is because there will be no campaign. Joe Manchin is too young to retire from a position of such power. What does that mean?

West Virginia, this means that Joe Manchin has sold you out. It means that he has accepted some position, likely promised by Barack Obama, to place his boot in your neck in exchange for power.

Here’s a 30 round magazine for an AR15, made just in time to add to the national conversation over things that look scary.

This magazine is the product of Defense Distributed who have previously graced the front page of Hackaday with their 3D printed scary bang bang machine. While continuing to work on their WikiWeapon – a gun printable on a home-built 3D printer – the team decided they could subvert more obtuse gun laws by making their own high-capacity magazine.

The magazine is printed on an extremely expensive commercial 3D printer, but the team is working to make it printable on more affordable models. The prototype magazine survived unloading a full 30 rounds. Video demo of that after the break.

Also on Defense Distributed’s DEFCAD is a sound moderator for paintball and air guns. While the design isn’t yet finalized for those big scary assault weapons, it should be possible to modify it for the big guns.  One of their next projects is a stock, hopefully one that includes a hinge.

The second suspect in a deadly shooting has been arrested in Southeast Fresno. He's accused of trying to kill a Madera pharmacy owner and his mother.

The shooting happened inside the pharmacy on Almond and Emily Way around 6:30 pm.
The pharmacy owner Bryan Lee said he left the back door of his store unlocked for a customer stopping by after business hours. Shortly after the customer left, Lee said two men in ski-masks barged in through the back door and started shooting.

The mother and son said they ducked behind the counter as bullets kept flying. One of them hit the mother in the leg. "It was not a robbery so much as an execution," Lee said. "It was an attempted assassination, they didn't make any demands, they simply came in, reached over, and it was basically shooting us almost in the back of the head. They shot my mother and almost shot me, I was just surrounded by holes."

Lee grabbed a gun and started shooting at one of the two suspects.

Police Chief Steve Frazier said he had information that the suspect was shot in the face, in the torso, and then once in the leg.

Frazier said the suspect, 31-year-old Aquilla Bailey, fell to the floor, and then managed to run out of the store and down the block before collapsing. Bailey later died at the hospital.Officers spent the day searching for the second suspect and piecing together a possible motive.

"The information we've developed is that the pharmacy was targeted probably specifically for the drugs on hand there, we don't have any information that the owner was specifically targeted at this point," Frazier said.

This wasn't the first time the pharmacy near highway 99 has been hit. Lee said he was able to stop two other attempted robberies in the 15 years he's owned the business, but this was the first time he felt he and his mother might die.

"I thought yesterday was the last day for both us, and luckily it didn't turn out that way," Lee said.
Lee and his mother Sophia both returned to work less than 24 hours after the shooting.

Authorities said the suspect who died was a known gang member from Fresno.Officers were searching the Fresno area for the other suspect and hope to make an arrest very soon. The second suspect was not armed but will still face murder charges.

Assemblyman Steve Katz said legislators were being “bullied.” He said the bill is “solely for the governor’s egotistical, misguided notion.”

Republicans argued the bill wouldn’t stop mass shootings or other gun crimes. They said all the legislation would do is turn law-abiding citizens into potential criminals.

Republican Assemblyman James Tedisco said the bill was “dangerous” because it would give people a “false sense of well-being.” “You are actually making people less safe.”

Rand Paul on Gun Control Executive Order: Obama is Not 'King'

"I'm against having a king," Paul said. "I think having a monarch is what we fought the American Revolution over and someone who wants to bypass the Constitution, bypass Congress -- that's someone who wants to act like a king or a monarch."

"I've been opposed to executive orders, even with Republican presidents. But one that wants to infringe on the Second Amendment, we will fight tooth and nail," he continued.

"And I promise you, there'll be no rock left unturned as far as trying to stop him from usurping the Constitution, running roughshod over Congress," he vowed. "And you will see one heck of a debate if he decides to try to do this."

Two people were shot at a downtown school Tuesday.

There were originally conflicting reports about how many victims had been shot, but NewsChannel 5 has confirmed one male was shot in his office and found in the lobby of the Stevens Institute of Business and Arts in the 1500 block of Washington Avenue around 2 p.m., the Loft District.

The victim, whom sources identified as Greg Elsenrath, was shot in the chest.  Elsenrath is the financial aid director at the Stevens Institute of Business and Arts.

The suspect, a male student in his early 20s, shot himself when police approached him in stairwell between the third and fourth floors.

The men were transported to area hospitals in critical condition.

Sources said a possible motive for the Stevens Institute of Business and Arts shooting was a discrepancy about the student's financial aid.  The student had been attending SIBA part-time for at least two years.

Approximately 250 students attend the Stevens Institute of Business and Arts, offering degrees in Fashion & Retail, Interior Design, Business Administration, Tourism & Hospitality and Paralegal studies.

NewsChannel 5 will have more on this story as details become available.

Via Sister Anne

Il Silencio by Nini Rosso and Guglielmo Brezza is notable for its trumpet theme which is based on a Neapolitan cavalry bugle call from Italy. It is also similar to Taps (also known as Butterfield's Lullaby or Day is Done). Taps in turn was based on an earlier bugle call, the Scott Tattoo which in turn was derived from earlier English and French bugle calls. Union Army Brigadier General Daniel Butterfield composed Taps in 1862 and it was formally adopted by the US Army in 1874. The trumpet theme is performed by 13 year old Mellissa Venema at the Vrijthof in Maastricht, Netherlands with Andre Rieu and his orchestra.

DESCRIPTION

ESTIMATE: $275,000 - $325,000

Before Ford shocked the world of drag racing with its now-famous Cobra Jet Mustangs in 1968, company management had to be shown the way to dominance on the strip by none other than Bob Tasca, who challenged Dearborn with his version of a lightweight Fastback powered by a 428 CI FE big block engine specially built by Tasca’s engine expert John Healey. The car took on all comers at the Ford test track, impressing the brass enough that they uncharacteristically ordered a series of 50 purpose-built lightweight Mustangs using two versions of the 428 Cobra Jet engine: one for Super Stock/E with 11.6:1 compression and a solid lifter cam; and the other for C/ Stock set at 11.0:1 and employing a somewhat milder hydraulic cam.

The 1968 Mustang Lightweight Cobra Jet offered here is one of the 11 cars sent to Tasca Ford. It is completely restored to factory-delivered specification with the 428/335 HP Cobra Jet Ram Air engine, 4-speed Toploader transmission and Traction-Loc differential. It is well documented with title history back to 1973, the original trim tag, a Ford inter-office memo on Lightweight VINs and a detailed Marti Report showing the car delivered to Tasca Ford as a marketing vehicle.

Where each state stands on gun-control legislation

  • Governor's office: Republican Gov. Pat McCrory said he's not for more gun laws. He said he's concerned about a "total breakdown" in the mental health system. "We've got a lot of laws ... some of the federal laws we aren't enforcing as much as we should."
  • Legislature: Senate President Phil Berger (R) would not say if the General Assembly would take up gun control. "Senator Berger respects the Second Amendment and will continue to fight to protect it," said spokeswoman Amy Auth.

Texas State Rep. Steve Toth to file ‘firearm protection act’

State Rep. Steve Toth to file ‘firearm protection act’

State Rep. Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands) has begun the process to file legislation assisting the protection of the Second Amendment of the United State Constitution.

The “Firearms Protection Act” bill would make any federal law banning semi-automatic firearms or limiting the size of gun magazines unenforceable within the state’s boundaries. Anyone trying to enforce a federal gun ban could face felony charges under the proposal.

“We can no longer depend on the Federal Government and this Administration to uphold a Constitution that they no longer believe in. The liberties of the People of Texas and the sovereignty of our State are too important to just let the Federal Government take them away. The overreach of the federal administrations executive orders that are do not align with the Constitution, are not very popular here in Texas,” said Toth.

Along with Wyoming, Texas will lead the country in continuing to stand for the sovereignty to run Texas as Texans see fit while exercising the Bill of Rights Amendments 2& 10 to “prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers … [to] extending the ground of public confidence in the Government.”

Romney was correct: Chrysler CEO announces plans to build more Jeeps in China

Photo -

VERBATIM

Remember this? Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne told reporters yesterday that the company plans to build more Jeeps in China.
The Detroit News reports:
“As part of our global expansion of the Jeep brand, there are some cars — that because of the price position in the market — can never be made in the U.S. and exported,” Marchionne told reporters on the sidelines of the North American International Auto Show. “We’re going to be announcing the first step in the globalization of Jeep (in China). There’s another one that’s going to come in Russia. These things are part of a natural process of expansion.”
Marchionne angrily criticized Presidential candidate Mitt Romney for running ads suggesting that Jeep was shifting American jobs to China.

“I feel obliged to unambiguously restate our position: Jeep production will not be moved from the United States to China,” Marchionne wrote at the time. “Jeep assembly lines will remain in operation in the United States and will constitute the backbone of the brand. … It is inaccurate to suggest anything different.”

During yesterday’s press conference, Marchionne signaled that production of the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Grand Cherokee would remain in the United States, but vehicles like the Jeep Patriot might be produced in China.

Some are calling me crazy, dangerous, or worse, as a result of my recent posts [here and here].  Well, opinions be damned, for we are in need of the truth!  What I have written since the new year is nothing new - I have been abundantly clear over the past two years about what we faceI am a Citizen Soldier of my Republic, and I know what duty demands of me.  As part of that duty, I have been vigorously ringing the alarm bell for some time, in the hopes that we might turn the tide without violence, or at least that none of my fellow countrymen might be lost due to ignorance.

I have written before about what is coming, and what we must do.  I have outlined the possible financial scenarios [collapse and/or intentional disruption] and I suggest that you read them both carefully, to understand what the full implications are – foreign wars, the Global Financial Collapse/federal insolvency, and the threat of Radical Islamists in our own country are real and growing – they are in fact being cultivated by those who require chaos to inflict fundamental transformation upon us.  The timing is fluid, but the end results are plain to see.  When everything breaks, there will be no safe place, as I have previously stated.

1967 Plymouth RO23 Belvedere 426 CI 544 HP

S177 1967 Plymouth RO23 Belvedere 426 CI, Automatic Photo 1

Competition in NHRA Super Stock racing was at a fever pitch by the mid-1960s. The factories continued to trade blows with ever more radical specials to meet the demands of their team drivers, and in 1967Plymouth upped the stakes, introducing a limited-production lightweight drag racing package for the Belvedere, the RO23. Fifty-five 2-door hardtops were built to meet the NHRA’s Super Stock/B class rules, all powered by the 426 CI Hemi backed by either a 4-speed manual transmission or a Torqueflite automatic, the latter fitted with the 8¾ rear axle housing with 4.86 final drive.

The cars were shipped sans sound deadener, radio, heater and front sway bar; the hood wore a large fresh air scoop, thin rubber mats replaced the standard carpeting and the battery was relocated to the trunk behind the right rear wheel well to aid traction. This RO23 Plymouth Belvedere lightweight from the Joe Amato Collection is a splendid example with the correct and recently rebuilt 426 race Hemi, equipped with dual 4-barrel carburetors and dyno- tuned to 544 HP (the original factory 4-barrels have been restored and come with the car). Finished in show-quality White paint over all-original sheet metal, it wears evocative painted steel wheels with “cheater” slicks and narrow rubber on American Torque Thrusts up front.

GRNC Alert 1-15-12 NC Anti-Gun Mayors Back Obama Gun Ban

They “Demand APla” to revoke Second Amendment rights

You may have heard of rabidly anti-gun NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s organization, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG). Make no mistake, these tyrants are against YOUR guns, not “illegal” ones. As you may recall, MAIG contains numerous  criminals who are themselves barred by federal law from possessing firearms (see “Gun Owners Against Illegal Mayors”).

Whatever their rationale, North Carolina MAIG members have decided to jump on the Obama/Biden/Feinstein gun ban bandwagon. Morrisville Mayor Jackie Holcombe, Durham Mayor Bill Bell, and Chapel Hill Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt have recently launched television ads supporting draconian bans on semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines. According to Kleinschmidt,

“Americans agree that now is the time for Washington to create a plan to address gun violence in America."
The mayor fails to understand that “bans” don’t constitute “plans.” If these gun control extremists were really interested in reducing violence, they would push for the elimination of “Gun Free Zones” that have become the most dangerous places in our society. Instead they exploit another predictable mass-murder of defenseless students in another one of the “Gun Free School Zones” that their laws have created. This stance makes it perfectly clear that reduced violence isn’t their goal, increased control is.

Meese: Obama Risks Impeachment If He Uses Executive Order for Gun Control

Former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III declared in an exclusive Newsmax TV interview that President Barack Obama could easily be impeached if he bypassed Congress and enacted gun-control legislation by executive order.

Meese's comments came on the same day President Obama told the White House press corp at the last news conference of his first term that he was reviewing actions, including issuing executive orders, where he could take action without congressional approval to confront gun violence in the nation. Obama said he would present a plan within days.

The options include stronger background checks, a meaningful ban on assault weapons, and limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines, Obama said, conceding that was unsure how such steps could pass Congress.

“I’m confident there are some steps we can take that don’t require legislation and that are within my authority as president,” Obama said.

“It would not be legal. It would not be constitutional,” Meese, who served under President Ronald Reagan, tells Newsmax. “And, indeed, if he tried to override the Second Amendment in any way, I believe it would be an impeachable offense.”

COLLEGES TWIST U.S. HISTORY

Via NC Links

U.S. history courses at American colleges and universities downplay the nation's economic, military, and political history and dramatically overemphasize the role of race. So finds a new study by the Texas Association of Scholars (TAS) and Center for the Study of the Curriculum at the National Association of Scholars (NAS).

The study focused on the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M as representative institutions because Texas law requires all students at public universities to take a year of American history and for universities to post course syllabi and faculty credentials online. The researchers found that many important topics received scant attention while more than half the faculty members focused on race, class, and gender (RCG) in their courses.  Among the topics that were often crowded out were America's diplomatic, philosophical, religious, and scientific history.

NC: Henderson teen tells 911 dispatcher: 'I just shot the man'

Via NC Links

A 14-year-old Henderson boy calmly described in a 911 call how he shot an intruder in a home invasion last week.

"I just shot the man. He came around the corner. I shot him. He broke the whole glass out (of the back door)," the teen told the 911 dispatcher.

Authorities said Anthony Henderson Jr. 19, broke into the home at 586 S. Lynnbank Road on Thursday while the teen and his 17-year-old sister were home.

The boy told the dispatcher that Henderson pointed a handgun at him, but Vance County Sheriff Peter White said deputies found no weapon on Henderson.

Henderson stumbled outside after being shot and was found dead on the lawn.
Deputies have charged Andrew Terry, 23, of 113 N. Woods Drive, with felony breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering and injury to real property in the case. They also are searching for two other men – Seneca Henderson, 20, of 907 S. Beckford Drive, No. 134, and Jatwaun Davis, 21, of 199 Belle Russell Road.
