A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday.
The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple “because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage.”
The order says the cake-maker must “cease and desist from discriminating” against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay couples who want to buy cakes.

Perhaps so, but there's no penalty for doing a lousy job, is there? After all, in our modern, blame-free, responsibility-free society, nobody can be held accountable for incompetence, right? So perhaps this situation calls for a little "creative incompetence."
ReplyDeleteAnother approach to dealing with bureaucracies that overstep their bounds is "malicious compliance."--following the letter of law, to the letter. Regardless of whether the outcome is what the people enforcing the law intend or desire...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that it was just governments that couldn't discriminate (Equal justice), but we as individuals can. It would be like the .gov saying your daughter HAS to marry that fine young black panther man, cause if she don't your discriminating. Where will this insanity end?
