Democrat McAuliffe wins Virginia, barely. Tea-party Republican Cuccinelli defeated in close vote

Almost pulled it off despite being outspent ten to one.

The slugfest for Virginia governor between Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli came to an end Tuesday, as the nation watched to see whether swing-state voters would embrace a candidate tied to President Obama or a champion of the tea party.

McAuliffe won the race, defeating Cuccinelli in a surprisingly close victory, by about two percentage points, with 99 percent of precincts reporting.

According to Fox News exit polls, the surprising closeness of the race can be attributed – in part – to the disastrous roll-out of Obamacare. Virginia voters in general oppose Obamacare by a margin of 53 to 45 percent, according to exit polls. Of those who oppose the law, 80 percent voted for Cuccinelli and 11 percent voted for McAuliffe.

  1. He lost but it took all of the democrats, the so called "libertarians", the Republican
governors association and the RNC to beat him. Just one more battle in the war
    against the "tea party".

    1. Well said and considering even after that the closest of it does not bode well for the Collectivists of both parties.

  2. The word about the Independent went out too late- financed by a Obama bundller from Austin. This is sick- the Republican Party is worse than the Democrat party.

Yes, I didn't hear about that until yesterday or the day before.

  3. If it hadn't been for research by Glenn Beck's folks we still wouldn't know it.
Unfortunately they found out too late.

I have been thinking for a while that we have reached that point in time when the
far left and the far right have moved so far apart that they have circled around and
are starting to meet on the back side where they will find common ground and stand up for freedom, leaving their lesser agenda behind.

Think about it, go back to the 60's and 70's and the left hung on the constitution with every breath using it to fight in the courts for their agenda. Now the folks that supposedly represent them in DC want to do away with the constitution. At least some of them as well as some, maybe most, of us conservatives realize that the
sanctity of the constitution matters beyond all else and that ignoring it is to their peril as well as ours.
