Patriot Plate Update

Via WiscoDave

Just a short update on the plates.

The plates were finally finished at 0530 on Friday morning!  The side plates were still warm from the plasma cuts when they showed up at our store!

They really look great.  I had been warned that the corners would be razor sharp from the cuts and had laid on heavy gloves to handle them.  Not so!  Ive been handling them bare handed without a problem.

We were at a gun show all weekend up in Greenville, SC, and started to unpack the truck this morning.  Then it was on to the plates!

Weve got them all packed finally.  I got the wife to help me, and I need to bring flowers home tonight to make up.

I played around with finishing them while at the gun show this weekend.  They are raw steel, so they have spots of rust from the rain, and of course they have lots of black dust on them from the plasma cuts.

At the show, we cleaned them with a bunch of elbow grease and some spray brake dust cleaner (the cheapest stuff they had at the Auto Parts place.)  They clean up very easily, and the brake cleaner dries fast with no residue.

Back at the store, I tried something that would take less elbow grease.
120 grit sandpaper on the sander for about 10 seconds.  All the rust spots gone.  Sprayed it with some citrus cleaner and wiped.  Total time about 30 seconds.  Ive attached a picture of the beautiful plates!

I will finish preparing the shipping labels and putting your ownership documents together tomorrow.  The post office should pick them up on Wednesday.

I will follow up with a USPS tracking number once the labels are done.
Ive got to tell you that they turned out even better than I ever thought they would.  The plasma cuts are clean and the plate look great.

Thanks for letting me be part of this venture.

Well have prices on cheap plate carriers either late this week or first thing Monday.
