  1. First ya have to ask yourself what is it that fires a 7.62X39mm round?
Then, take into consideration that last one.
    9mm X 18mm?
18mm is 3/4's of an inch.
That has to be a rifle round.

    1. I've got one that fires the former, and looking up the latter I got this: The 9×18mm Makarov (designated 9 mm Makarov by the C.I.P. and often called 9×18mm PM) is a Russian pistol and submachine gun cartridge. I've seen ads for them recently and maybe at Classic.

    2. There are some 9x18 Makarov pistols for sale on some of the surplus ammo sites. I don't remember which one(S)
but I've seen them recently. Not much of a pistol but there are probably large numbers of them in cosmoline somewhere in the former USSR.

Why they want ammo for them is a mystery to me. it's basically a collector pistol/round at this point.

Whatever they want it and the 7.62 x 39 for you can bet it's not to issue to anyone we agree with.

  2. That is the basic training loadout for a Battalion live fire + training exersize + a 30 day combat deployment. Somebody is planning to supply(and train) an army equipped with AK-47s. That means that its not Russian as they us they use 5.45x39.(and make 90+% of the 7.62x39 on the planet) Bet somebody in the pentagon plans to train/supply the ragheads.------ That and the UN small arms treaty STOPS civilian arms/ammo transfer across borders. The day any nation signs it they stop shipping civilian ammo FOREVER. "Divert" that ammo NOW and that EVIL WHITE REDNECK MILITIA won't get it.(IMO we have just seen the start of the effort to "keep ammunition out of the wrong hands"(Obama)

Syria, didn't think of that for some reason.

  3. That there, gentlemen, is my ammo. Just like all that .40 they ordered and are storing for me earlier this year.

Don't worry, I'm not overly greedy and I'll share with you when I get it out.

9x18 replaced 7.62.x25 "tokarev" as the COMBLOC sidearm and burp gun round in the late 50's (going from memory there). It's a decent round for self defense, but sorta dried up lately on the US markets. I was tempted to jump into it about 10 years ago when it and the import makarov variants were cheaper than water, but waved off it as well as the 5.45x39 rifle round because I felt that neither had the toehold that 7.62x39 or even 7.62x25 had.
This past two years I've sold off all my pistols and ammo for 7.62x25, group standarized on .45 with .40 and 9x19 as secondary, logistics and re-supply was the main concern as well as indication that the deep supply all the former COMBLOC had was starting to dry up.

No worries about 7.62x39, good round, good platforms and plenty of it laying around for awhile per our estimates.

Agreed and I don't believe lack of ammo a problem.

  5. How about ammo for those 15000 plus Russian troops that our govt and the Russians have admitted are here for emergencies? They will have guns they are familiar with, ak-47s and Makarovs, and are here to help us. Would it not be ironic, that the second American civil war will be fought with ak vs ak?

if no one has the gun, in my sick mind I can imagine this scenario. Guns and ammo that no one "picks up" because they don't have the platform, issued to suicide soldiers who they don't care if they come back or not. no one in their right mind attacks with this platform unless it's just for show or a suicide mission.
Admit it, who would pick the bones of an Makarov (unless they had nothing to begin with)
