Seriously. Western North Carolina (and Eastern North Carolina) is not even considered to be flyover territory in Raleigh. Consider what would happen if a new 52nd state (assuming North Colorado is 51st) of West Carolina was formed that would not be under the control of Raleigh/Charlotte power brokers. We could have a new Constitution which was not illegally mandated by the federal government in 1868 (see surrender letter). We could decide our regulatory guidelines and tax base.

All well and fine, but you have problems to consider.
ReplyDeleteThe Western NC area would definitely fall to the Yankees. You have Asheville and Western Carolina University, Boone, Blowing and Banner Elk, all of which are highly *Yankeeified*.
In the Eastern NC area, well you have a lot of Yankees all up and down the coast, plus you have large numbers of blacks who are going to be over 90% Democrat.
Yup it doesn't look good making them areas into new states. You'd only lose more seats to Marxist Senators and Representatives. On second thoughts I wonder what areas qualifies as conservative or Republican in today's politics?

Carteret County went 70% for Romney, not that he was worth a damn. The fishermen don't like the government one iota. The best comment I heard on him was "I don't like him, but at least he doesn't hate America." :)
