College Professor Forces Students to Support Gay Rights

Columbia State Community College professor Linda Brunton

At one time, community colleges were seen not only as an inexpensive way of starting one’s college career or getting a two year technical training in a specific field.  It was also thought to be a safer environment from some of the more acidic views of some professors that strut through the halls of the major universities and colleges.

However, it seems that at least one acidic and agenda oriented professor has been strutting her stuff through the halls at a small community college in the heart of Tennessee.  Nestled alongside the Duck River, Columbia is the home to Columbia State Community College with an enrollment of around 5,500 students spread out in five local campuses.  Posted on the school’s website, it says:
“Columbia State offers more than 50 areas of study and has friendly faculty and staff who care that you have a good college experience.”
That may be true for most faculty and staff, but it doesn’t seem to describe the experience that students have when taking a psychology class from Dr. Linda Brunton.  In fact, a number of her students just sent a 4 page letter to Dr. Janet Smith, the President of the school.  In the letter, they claim that Brunton violated their First Amendment rights by her assignments and comments.  They ask that Brunton issue an apology and that she be disciplined in some way for her actions.
