Let’s Give Up on the Constitution

Via hefferman1

Must be in a different world.

"Our sometimes flagrant disregard of the Constitution has not produced chaos or totalitarianism; on the contrary, it has helped us to grow and prosper. "

"No one can predict in detail what our system of government would look like if we freed ourselves from the shackles of constitutional obligation, and I harbor no illusions that any of this will happen soon. But even if we can’t kick our constitutional-law addiction, we can soften the habit. "

"we ought to try extricating ourselves from constitutional bondage so that we can give real freedom a chance."

  1. Who's bound by the Constitution? Not our government, surely.

He's got a point, though not the one he's trying to make. The Constitution failed before it was fifty years old; maybe its time we on the "right" admit that and act accordingly.

      Good point.

  2. Start by killing the Commerce clause. Recognize State sovereignty above the Feds. Maybe eliminate the Federal Reserve, the IRS, Depts. of Energy and Education. Let the State Supreme courts be the highest court in the land. Defrock the bumbling nine.

I'd be willing to give up my Medicare, which has spent many times more on me than what I put into it and Social Security, which is half my income. Repeat after me--"What part of Lives, Fortunes, and Sacred Honor do you not understand." I still say that's still the ticket price on the Freedom Train.

  3. Fortunately, Seidman is considered a "whack job" even by many of his peers...

Like I told David the other day when he sent me the same article, Seidman is the kind of guy that obama would like to see join the Supremes.

  4. Funny, from where I sit, that "GD piece of paper" has at least helped to make the US what it is... or was anyway. If all of these folks really despise it so much, why don't they pack up their shit and move someplace that does not have one. My ancestors, and your ancestors left the hell hole of Europe and else where, and came here to succeed in part because of the promises that the Constitution made. The best and brightest came here....
Second, this twat is a "Law Perfessor" eh? Just confirms my suspicion that Law School spends 3 years teaching people to take a document that is clear, and simple enough for an 8 year old to understand, and twist it to mean nothing at all.

  5. It occurred to me on a second read that, in government, might makes right in the sense that if you can do it then you have the right to do it. I think the Constitution has acted as a drag on our more despotic politicians' ambitions forcing them to justify their actions.

Certainly, just need a heavier anchor for these uncouth imbeciles..

  6. Ah, hell, another shooting in Aurora makes the national news. I'm getting tired. I think I'll quit preaching on the Internet and watching Castle and The Mentalist and just give my three family members, plus one great dog, my full-time bodyguarding service. I watched Mad Max-Thunderdome again last night and laughed at the scene where Max drops his guns before fighting in the cage. I couldn't count them there were so many. Tomorrow I will see how many of mine I can tote concealed.

Max:"You've got to understand that this is home, and there's no tomorrow land and I ain't Captain Walker."
