Wingsuit flying world championship takes off in China

The first wingsuit flying world championship opened in Zhangjiajie, in central China's Hunan province, with the participation of the world's top 15 wingsuit fliers.

The rules require competitors to jump off a cliff 1,400 meters above sea level on top of the Tianmen Mountain in China, complete a loop-like flight in the valley and glide across the terminal of the cableway before they open their parachute and land at the finish line on the mountain road.

The competitor who finishes the whole course in the shortest time is the winner.

According to schedule, the 16 contestants made two preliminary flights on Wednesday and the top eight will go into the final on Thursday.

Six of the 15 top fliers are from the United States and there are three air photographers.

Global warming: Non-existent for the last 15+ years

Non-existent for the last 15+ years. Zero. Nada. Zilch. (Before that, in the ’70′s, it was all about the “Coming Ice Age” and where did that go?) All the while the developing world has been cranking up carbon use for manufacturing. And in the meantime? We have energy starvation policies stuffed down our throats. And a President, last night in the debate, going on and on about “Green Jobs,” which are either non-existent also…or are causing bankruptcy eruptions all over the place. Not to mention the dire straights he is putting people in with regard to the energy they need to survive.

Excuse the unladylike word in my title, but the entire Al Gorebasm insanity is causing nothing but draconian, opportunistic, tyrannical thievery and controls over our very daily lives to the point of stark raving global madness. You have been sold down the proverbial river. Sent over the cliff. Robbed blind. And screwed…totally. Americans are supposed to be smarter than this. I want to believe Americans are smarter than this. But every day, in America, bureaucrats, planners, non-profits, corporations, and politicians are spending their time, and energy, and your money, to capture you…not carbon, but you…..into their schemes of control. None of that has one whit to do with some conjured up fiction that you are causing the global temperatures to rise. You aren’t. You never did. But they won’t let a little thing like the truth stop them from their central control of your energy use.

My great grandfather liked doors closed quietly, and if someone didn't , he would exclaim
"Slam the doors, break them off the hinges!"

Every day after dinner, he would crawl under the table, and take his nap there.

He loved grits, and required all (and, of course, I continue the tradition) to sing as the butter was stirred into same

"Beat yellow grits, beat yellow grits, beat yellow grits just as fast as you can!"

I have taken this one step further by cutting up one or two Sunny-Side Up eggs, and incorporating them into the soon to be delightful very, yellow mess. Shrimp and grits are also wonderful, as is most anything else with grits. We are fortunate that Yankees don't like a "grit" for if they did, the price would go up......

He disliked saying grace, and one day the minister was having Sunday dinner with them, so my great grandmother thought she would ask him to say grace since he couldn't possibly decline considering the guest. Well, they were having lamb, so my great grandfather exclaimed "God bless the mutton, damn the skin, turn over your plates and we'll all begin!"
I doubt if she asked him again!

School Bus Driver Tells12 Yr Old Boy His Mother Should Have Aborted Him

The public school system throughout the United States has become a nest for liberals.  Educators have been sucked into the liberal mindset that it is their job to form and mold kids into what progressive politics wants them to become instead of what their parents want them to be.  The NEA is the largest teachers union in the nation and it is married to the liberal progressive Democratic Party.  Hence, a large majority of public school employees, not just teachers are Democrats out of mandate.
Recently, we’ve seen incidents where teachers have bullied and abused students for either being a Christian or having different political views than their own.  In the latest incident, a 12 year old boy, Joey Hartlaub, was verbally bullied and abused by his 81 year old school bus driver.

Joey attends school in New Berlin, Wisconsin.  His parents had a Romney – Ryan in their front yard and the school bus driver started harassing Joey about the sign.  A couple of weeks later, Joey and some friends were in the back of the bus chanting ‘Romney, Romney’ when the driver yelled at him to come to the front of the bus.  When the bus driver began to verbally assault Joey, he told her that Obama was pro-abortion.  The driver responded by telling Joey:

“Well, then maybe your mother should have chosen abortion for you.”

What Can We Cut to Balance the Budget?

Via David

If the U.S. government cut all government services except Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and payments on the debt, federal spending would still outpace revenues. Prof. Antony Davies argues that there are not specific cuts that will enable government to balance the budget. He says, "Nothing less than a redesign will solve this problem." That redesign should begin by determining what the proper role of government is.

Can it all be coincidence?

Via Knuckledraggin' My Life Away

As I noted in the introduction to my book, The Obama Timeline, a jury at a murder trial will often find the accumulated circumstantial evidence so overwhelming that a guilty verdict is obvious—even though there may be no witness to the crime. "The jurors in the Scott Peterson trial believed the collection of evidence more than they believed Scott Peterson. Among other things, the jury thought that being arrested with $15,000 in cash, recently-dyed hair, a newly-grown goatee, four cell phones, camping equipment, a map to a new girlfriend's house, a gun, and his brother's driver's license certainly did not paint a picture of a grieving husband who had nothing to do with his pregnant wife's disappearance and murder."

In the four years I have been gathering information about—and evidence against—Barack Hussein Obama, I have encountered hundreds of coincidences that strike me as amazing. None of those coincidences, by themselves, may mean much. But taken as a whole it is almost impossible to believe they were all the result of chance.

Consider the Obama-related coincidences:

Obama just happened to know 60s far-left radical revolutionary William Ayers, whose father just happened to be Thomas Ayers, who just happened to be a close friend of Obama's communist mentor Frank Marshall Davis, who just happened to work at the communist-sympathizing Chicago Defender with Vernon Jarrett, who just happened to later become the father-in-law of Iranian-born leftist Valerie Jarrett, who Obama just happened to choose as his closest White House advisor, and who just happened to have been CEO of Habitat Company, which just happened to manage public housing in Chicago, which just happened to get millions of dollars from the Illinois state legislature, and which just happened not to properly maintain the housing—which eventually just happened to require demolition.

Valerie Jarrett also just happened to work for the city of Chicago, and just happened to hire Michelle LaVaughan Robinson (later Obama), who just happened to have worked at the Sidley Austin law firm, where former fugitive from the FBI Bernardine Dohrn also just happened to work, and where Barack Obama just happened to get a summer job.

Bernardine Dohrn just happened to be married to William Ayers, with whom she just happened to have hidden from the FBI at a San Francisco marina, along with Donald Warden, who just happened to change his name to Khalid al-Mansour, and Warden/al-Mansour just happened to be a mentor of Black Panther Party founders Huey Newton and Bobby Seale and a close associate of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, and al-Mansour just happened to be financial adviser to a Saudi Prince, who just happened to donate cash to Harvard, for which Obama just happened to get a critical letter of recommendation from Percy Sutton, who just happened to have been the attorney for Malcolm X, who just happened to know Kenyan politician Tom Mboya, who just happened to be a close friend of Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., who just happened to meet Malcolm X when he traveled to Kenya.

D’Souza: President Obama Has ‘Emboldened Our Enemies’

Dinesh D’Souza, co-director of the film "2016 — Obama's America," and author of the new book "Obama’s America," told Newsmax TV that President Barack Obama’s policies in the Middle East have “emboldened our enemies” and fueled anti-American attacks such as the assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

“The important point is that Obama deliberately undermined our allies and doesn’t seem to mind so much when forces hostile to America come to power,” said D’Souza in an exclusive interview on Monday, while also pointing to Obama’s willingness to embrace the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt over the military, which has been a friend to the U.S.“There is a power struggle going on right now between the Egyptian military, which has been allied with America, and the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the largest organization in radical Islam,” he observed. “The Obama people have been telling the Egyptian military, ‘You better step down, turn away and turn over power to the Muslim Brotherhood or we will cut off U.S. aid.’”

Unlike President Jimmy Carter, who may not have fully understood the ramifications of withdrawing support from the then Shah of Iran , “Obama knows full well that weakening the hand of the Egyptian military will consolidate the power of the Muslim Brotherhood and that’s why he’s doing it.”

To Gain All We Must Risk All: The Imperial German Contribution to 4GW

(The following article was contributed by Disciple of Night, a regular commenter on many blogs in the Liberty blogosphere. He emailed me a few weeks ago, asking my opinion on the impact General von Lettow-Vorbeck had on the development of what we today call unconventional warfare. I answered him, but rather than give specifics, I suggested he use what he’s learned in his study of the subject, to determine the answers himself. The following article is the result. Other than some minor editing for clarity and format, any of my personal additions to the article content are in the typical parenthetical form.–J.M.)

(Disclaimer: My favorite Clint Eastwood quote is from Magnum Force: “A man’s got to know his limitations.” I am certainly aware of mine. I am a graduate student with no military experience whatsoever. I believe in the power of history, which is why I feel compelled to examine this story. Everything presented in this essay is strictly based on what I have read and been taught by professionals. I would like to thank John Mosby for giving me the opportunity to write for his blog. Considering his vast wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience, it’s a huge leap of faith on his part. This means more to me than you realize. It’s an honor.)

Introduction

I’ve come to believe a simple truth. “The Germans of the 20th century did more to advance modern warfare than any other nation (intechnology, administration and tactics) but they just couldn’t win.” (I don’t know that I agree with this, but it may have some validity as a basis of argument. The problem is, the German contributions have focused on the typically Prussian banality and unquestioning obedience to the leadership, rather than intuitiveness and initiation-J.M.) Ask a military historian who the greatest German commander was and you’ll probably hear names like Rommel, or Hindenburg, or Manstein. The trenches of the First World War’s Western Front captured the horror of mechanized slaughter in ways that hadn’t been seen since 1861 (Well, actually, that the world had arguably NEVER seen. The carnage of the War for Southern Independence was certainly devastating to the populace of the USA, it really wasn’t much on the scale of horror when compared to the rest of the world, especially the World Wars–J.M.). Yet, there existed men whose talents and abilities wouldn’t be fully appreciated in their own time.

The Germans had such a man: General Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck.

Romney doubles down on "Assault weapons"

Via southwind

Holy crap.

First, if you were looking for some sort of rousing surprise, you got one.  But not where you might have been looking for it.

Romney tattooed Obama with his record, which was his strongest point of attack and a perfectly-valid one.  Obama failed to lead, but he had little to lead with given the 4 years of history.  The dissembling coming from Obama on the Libya attacks, in particular, were outrageous lies.  But Romney told his share of whoppers as well in that he had no point of defense when it came to offshoring jobs and his record of doing it himself.

Both of these clowns got an "F-" from me on the college education questions; both were full-throated in defense of more and more debt ladled up on our youth.  Putting a thousand new financial******vans on the streets of America to screw our youth with is not my idea of a plan for higher education, but it is what both Mitt and Barack offered up tonight.  If you're anywhere from 15 to 25 and wanted a reason to riot you got one this evening no matter who wins in November.

Neither had a thing to say about actually taking care of the deficit and budget but that shouldn't surprise, and the moderator was braindead as well.  One well-placed interjection about 10% of the economy being deficit spending and if you stop GDP contracts by that same 10% would have led to some very awkward moments in that room, but neither candidate would go there and the moderator didn't either, being in the tank with both the banksters and Obama.

That sucked.

The back-and-forth was mostly a good excuse to get drunk -- right up until near the end.  But then Romney did himself some serious damage, and it was self-inflicted.  The issue turned to guns and Obama, as a Democrat, actually came off as more-moderate than Romney did on the 2nd Amendment!

Mitt got hit square in the face with his Massachusetts record as governor; he was reminded that as Governor he said:

Florida Union: 'Vote Early, Vote Often'

Richard Trumka speaks to an AFL-CIO gathering in 2009.

The Florida chapter of the AFL-CIO appears to be encouraging folks to break the law. In a message on the homepage of their website, the union writes, "There is a mantra that we --at the Florida AFL-CIO-- like to live by, 'Vote Early, Vote Often'."

The mantra of the Florida AFL-CIO encourages illegal activity.
There appears to be two federal laws this would violate:  42 USC 1973i(e) and 42 USC § 1973gg–10(2). "The former federal law makes it illegal to vote twice. The latter law prohibits fraudulent voting in a federal election. 18 USC 2 makes it illegal to aid and abet election fraud," J. Christian Adams has previously noted.

"On October 27th, we get to put it into practice, when the United Association of Plumbers and Allied Trades (UA) will host Early Voting Rallies across Florida," reads the rest of the message on the homepage. "These rallies will not only be a chance to get you fired up, but it will also be an opportunity to get you to the polls before November 6th. The UA will have buses and shuttles ready at each location to take you to an early voting location and help move our country forward by participating in the democratic process. Bring your friends, coworkers, neighbors…or really anyone that you can think of that wants to make sure to get to the polls and beat the crowds on Election Day. It is up to all of us to secure Florida’s future. The UA is stepping up, and now it is up to us to fill the buses and get the votes we need to win. They will be providing refreshments and food; so they want to make sure they have enough to provide for everyone. Click here to RSVP for a Early Vote Rally and Ride event near you!"

One man’s tropical paradise is another man’s prison. Imagine being “stuck” on Oahu. I’m sure you could think of worse situations, but really stop and think about the following true and evolving situation. You’re a “normal” 34 year-old guy, live on the U.S. mainland in Gulfport, Mississippi, and recently married a woman who is a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy stationed in Okinawa.

You’re a citizen of the United States and possess a valid U.S. issued passport. You’re not a criminal and have no history of felony or misdemeanor convictions.  In fact, you recently passed a background check to own and carry a firearm in Mississippi. You are, however, an outspoken patriot for the United States Constitution.

You miss your bride of eight months, and decide to fly to Okinawa to visit her. Because you are the “dependent” of an active duty member of the U.S. military, you make arrangements to fly from San Francisco to Okinawa on a military aircraft. You must still have a ticket, pass the screening procedures similar or even more stringent than those flying on normal commercial airlines. After the screening at the airport, you board the plane and settle in for your flight, counting down the hours until you are reunited with your wife.

The plane lands in Hawaii as scheduled for refueling and maintenance. It is here, after re-boarding the aircraft, that two heavily-armed military guards confront you and tell you that you must leave the plane. They take you to a small room at the military base and advise you that you are on the U.S. “No-Fly”  list. You’re not under arrest, but you’re not free to go until they decide what to do with you. You watch as your plane, as well as your hopes of seeing your bride vanish into the air while under the careful watch of two heavily armed military police officials.

What’s going on?

As you sit in a small room, thoughts race through your mind. Why am I here? It must be some mistake. I’ve committed no crime. Like any “normal” American, You expect the matter to be resolved as there must be some mix-up. Then, an official with the Customs and Border Enforcement arrives and tells you that there is no mix-up. The official rattles off your name, date of birth, social security number and complete identifying information. It’s you alright, and you are officially on the “No-Fly” list.

“How did you get on that plane?” asks the Customs and Border Enforcement official. You reply that you had a normal ticket, passed through the screening process and boarded the plane normally and without incident. You are told that you should not have been permitted to fly. Again, you are on the “No-Fly” list. You reply that there has to be a mistake, and are met with the stern reply of the official: there is no mistake.

You then ask why you are on the “No-Fly” list and are told that you are not permitted to know. At this point, they tell you that you are free to go, but you cannot fly anywhere by orders of the United States government. And there you are, in “paradise” but unable to leave.

Putin quote

Via Ryan

"Our Western friends seem to think that war is the key to saving their economy. When their constant thirst for war is what is partially wrong with their economy, the other part is they have outsourced almost their entire economy and industry out to foreign powers. They wish to sit like a Queen and rule the world and desire to live up on a pedestal from reality, Russia does not bow down and kiss the feet of anyone or country and certainly not to a country that sits knee deep in blood of children from Countries that can not defend themselves. So to answer your question, No Russia does not want to be like America, we are going to be like Russia."
