Life is Better with the Southern Agrarian Writers (Read every word)

Tim Manning

I am often asked questions like this one from a FaceBook friend, “Tim…who are your top 3 favs Agrarian writers/titles? Thx.” They are:

1. Richard M. Weaver,

2. Andrew Nelson Lytle,

3. Donald Davidson,

4. M. E. Bradford,

5. Tom Landess,

6. Cleaneth Brooks, and

7. Marion Montgomery

Sorry, but I could not get it down to three. They are all the older and deceased writers. Among the living are:

1. Clyde N. Wilson,

2. James Kibler,

3. Wendell Berry,

4. Fred Chappell, and

5. Bill Wilson

I will list the titles a little later. It is especially sad to me that even after receiving a college degree from a small Christian college in Tennessee and a graduate degree from their university in Michigan I was not taught anything about Southern Agrarianism. I was even more saddened by the teaching of Marxism in their grad school. Now Marxist teachings are in all of their American colleges and universities. This is a measure of just how successful the indoctrination into The New Statist/Totalitarian Lincoln World Order has become. The Marxist rule in the USA today could only be established through the strong centralization and secularization begun by Abraham Lincoln.

I also like Lyle H. Lanier, Frank Lawrence Owsley, Robert Penn Warren, John Gould Fletcher and Allen Tate. It is the agrarian writers that turned me on to the Southern culture and heritage, because they gave me a sound perspective for my Christian faith in the time and world that I live in. This is an aspect of understanding missing in most churches today.

Now, Christians are waking-up and thinking that the USA may be moving into Marxism and they think that is a great insight. Most of them do not have a clue about what Marxism is and how it works. Our society, especially the political and academic world, was fully Marxist when I was born in 1945. Now we are quickly becoming a global communist empire. The word society no longer applies. We have lived in a period best described as the “death of western civilization”, meaning a society where Christian beliefs and ethical practices were the norm.

Every college student should have to take at least two 4-hour semesters of Southern agrarian thought and practies to obtain a college degree. Much of this had remained in the core college studies through the mid 1930's. These writers lend an up to date application of the morals and practices so carefully defined in the Old and New Testiments of the Holy Bible. Instead, our children are forced to read trashy New England writers (yep, a host of nasty northern agnostic writers) that no one of faith would be reading if it were not a requirement of their school and this was in a Southern University, much to their great shame.

Many Southern institutes, organizations, and societies will not tolerate their members being Southern agrarian in their perspectives. Some Southern churches will not place Christian agrarians in positions of leadership and real spiritual influence. This had become a measure of their apostasy from Biblical truths.

Worse I had to pay money to study those unskilled trashy writers at a Christian University, because my church was too liberal (affected by agnostic and socialist cultural engineering) to know that these great folks even existed !!! (Insert anger and amazement for the stupid here!) The modern application of my Christian faith grew more in reading their works than in the tainted classes I took at their "Christian" college, Seminary and grad school.

Not having read this wonderful agrarian literature is why so many Southern people no longer understand the great truths of why the South was right. Most reconstructed Southerners cannot imagine how recontructed they are without becoming thoroughly acquainted with traditional Southern Agrarian thought and practices. Many have too narrow a focus on the legal issues which are good and in our favour, but if they are not acquainted with these literary giants it is likely that “you ain’t got no book learnin’”, and that is that ! Studying the battles and the great heroes is wonderful and uplifting, but it just does not have the spiritual influence of studying these insightful works which is why there is not a unified Southern movement today.

Organizations like the UDC, the SCV and the MOS&B largely accept statist anti-Southern and anti-agrarian views while rattling-on about "Southern Heritage." They are encouraged through the study of a more factual history than government schools will permit, BUT that more factual history CANNOT be understood without a moral perspective that is absolute and a current measure of our practices today. Their rejection of Southern heritage should be obvious to anyone who witnesses their members place their hands over their hearts and pledge their souls allegiance to the current secular form of Lincoln's New World Order which grows only more secular and violent by the year as they proudly fly that USA flag at their national Reunion's and in many of their camp meetings. Some progress is seen, however, in the many camps who no longer fly the USA flag and no longer monthly repeat the USA Pledge of Allegiance.

If you are Southern and spending tens of thousands of dollars sending your children to today’s Marxist public American universities or the semi-Marxism Christian universities, you should make the added investment to build their spiritual understanding by having them read the agrarian writers and attend the above institutes to counteract the poison of modernity. Their lives will be spiritually enriched and will never be the same.

UN Treaty Update: Visit Senators at Home to Ensure Victory!

Read more about the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the threat it poses, and how you can stop it! >>

On Friday, Congress left Washington, D.C. for the rest of the summer. Thanks to the thousands of phone calls and emails you made in opposition to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) the treaty was not voted on by the full Senate before the recess! We now have a month to reach out to senators in their district offices and explain our concerns before they return to Washington in September and vote on the treaty.

August is a perfect time to contact your senators in their local districts as their main purpose in coming back to their home states is to learn of their constituents’ needs and desires. We urge you to take advantage of this opportunity by scheduling a meeting at the district office near you, or express your concerns with the CRPD by phone or email. We cannot rest. Senators must be confronted directly by their constituents—you—and urged to oppose ceding U.S. sovereignty and parental rights to unelected, unaccountable United Nations bureaucrats.

To contact a district office, you can use HSLDA’s Legislative Toolbox to find your senators’ official websites (or go to each website directly if you know it), where their district offices are listed.

  • You can schedule a visit to the office (read “Ten Tips for Visiting a Congressman”).
  • You can ask when there will be a town hall meeting in your area and attend.
  • You can share your concerns on the treaty by phone.

If you have any questions or want some additional information, please contact the staff at HSLDA’s Federal Relations Department at federalrelations@hslda.org or 540-338-5600.

The following senators either voted against the CRPD in committee or have told us that they oppose the treaty. If one of your senators is listed below we ask that you take a moment to thank them.

  • Senator Sessions (R-AL)
  • Senator Risch (R-ID)
  • Senator Inhofe (R-OK)
  • Senator Hatch (R-UT)
  • Senator Rubio (R-FL)
  • Senator Chambliss (R-GA)
  • Senator DeMint (R-SC)
  • Senator Coburn (R-OK)
  • Senator Toomey (R-PA)
  • Senator Corker (R-TN)
  • Senator Lee (R-UT)

The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator John Kerry, felt certain this treaty would be ratified by August. It passed out of committee and seemed on a glide path to ratification. It is only by the grace of God and your actions that the treaty has not yet been ratified. Nevertheless, while this is a victory, the battle has not ended, and we appreciate your continued vigilance in protecting our nation’s sovereignty, parental rights, and our children.

Please visit our CRPD action page for additional resources and action opportunities.

Land of the Free? Not When the Government Can Indiscriminately Kill US Citizens

H.R. 6357 by Dennis Kucinich: To prohibit the extrajudicial killing of United States citizens, and for other purposes.

STATUS (Aug 03, 2012):

This bill was assigned to a congressional committee on August 3, 2012, which will consider it before possibly sending it on to the House or Senate as a whole.

PROGNOSIS:

This bill has a 0% chance of being enacted. The following factors were considered:

This bill was a re-introduction of H.R. 6010 (111th) from the previous session of Congress. (-3%)

The sponsor is a member of the minority party.(-2%)

Just 4% of all House bills in 2009–2010 were enacted.

Text of the Bill:

The text of this bill is not yet available. Please check back soon.

Which then begs the question: why would this bill have to be introduced if the people control our representative Republic? There is no need to list the grievances our federal government has perpetuated against the people and in violation of the Constitution. Patrick Henry’s words have no meaning today: Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death have become another “outdated” symbol for Liberty. Give the masses liberty to receive food stamps and watch television has become our nation’s mantra. But some of us realize the price that will be paid to restore Liberty and ensure our children’s freedom.

American NeoConservatism: Where Trotsky Meets Stalin and Hitler

Via Billy

The neoconservatives are often depicted as former Trotskyites who have morphed into a new, closely related life form. It is pointed out that many early neocons — including The Public Interest founder Irving Kristol and coeditor Nathan Glazer, Sidney Hook, and Albert Wohlstetter — belonged to the anti-Stalinist far left in the late 1930s and early 1940s, and that their successors, including Joshua Muravchik, and Carl Gershman, came to neoconservatism through the Socialist Party at a time when it was Trotskyite in outlook and politics. As early as 1963 Richard Hofstadter commented on the progression of many ex-Communists from the paranoid left to the paranoid right, clinging all the while to the fundamentally Manichean psychology that underlies both. Four decades later the dominant strain of neoconservatism is declared to be a mixture of geopolitical militarism and “inverted socialist internationalism.”

Blanket depictions of neoconservatives as redesigned Trotskyites need to be corrected in favor of a more nuanced analysis. In several important respects the neoconservative world outlook has diverged from the Trotskyite one and acquired some striking similarities with Stalinism and German National Socialism. Today’s neoconservatives share with Stalin and Hitler an ideology of nationalist socialism and internationalist imperialism. The similarities deserve closer scrutiny and may contribute to a better understanding of the most influential group in the U.S. foreign policy-making community.

Certain important differences remain, notably the neoconservatives’ hostility not only to Nazi race-theory but even to the most benign understanding of national or ethnic coherence. On the surface, there are also glaring differences in economics. However, the neoconservative glorification of the free market is more rhetoric, designed to placate the businessmen who fund them, than reality. In fact, the neoconservatives favor not free enterprise but a kind of state capitalism — within the context of the global apparatus of the World Bank and the IMF — that Hitler would have appreciated.

Navy SEAL Forced to Retire for Criticizing Obama’s Policies

Navy SEAL

Carl Higbie served as a Navy SEAL for nine years, but was forced to retire after speaking out against President Obama’s policies. Higbie was threatened with dishonorable discharge for writing the book, “Battle on the Home Front,” but instead was able to simply retire.

“My commanders were more concerned about how the fallout of this book would affect their careers than they were concerned about how re-electing President Obama would affect the country,” Higbie said.

He discussed the controversy surrounding the book, saying, “It really points out how there is an agenda on Capitol Hill. It needs to be called attention to. There are so many things right now that are destroying this country.”

Phase Out the Fed With State Sound Money Laws

Although it is very encouraging that the House voted 327 to 98 to audit the Fed last month, it is virtually certain that the Senate will not concur this year. Moreover, it is virtually certain that Congress will not act to end or phase out the Fed any time soon.

So, what's to be done about the impending destruction of our currency by the Federal Reserve's ongoing expansion of the money supply. Since 2010 there has been a continuation of this rapid expansion of the money supply.

The preeminent expert on Constitutional money, Edwin Vieira, has a strategy for phasing out the use of Federal Reserve Notes through new state laws providing alternative currencies, which he has been promoting via interviews and videos for the past several years..

Basically, Vieira advocates that states start taking advantage of their sovereignty as guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment and their constitutional mandate under Article I, Section 10 not to "make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts," by passing laws providing alternative currencies in their states based on gold and silver.

A good way to understand Vieira's strategy is to view the video, "What Is Constitutional Money?", shown below, which consists of a lecture he gave last November in Washington, DC, sponsored by Congressman Ron Paul. Be sure to view all the way to the end of the question-and-answer period to get the whole story.

Since 2005 at least fourteen states have introduced bills to provide for the establishment of alternative currencies based on gold and silver: Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.

The only state to pass its alternative currency bill
and get the governor's signature was Utah in 2011. Utah's bill, HB317, provides a model bill for other states to consider introducing. Although Georgia didn't pass its alternative currency bill, HB3, in the 2011-12 session, its bill also provides another good model bill for other states to consider. While the Utah bill is stronger in its attention to the tax treatment of silver and gold money, the Georgia bill is stronger in its attention to the valuation of silver and gold money and in its requirement that state debts be paid in gold and silver.

Vieira emphasizes in the above video that his recommendation for creating state-based alternative currencies is not a "solution" to the destruction of our currency by the Fed, but that he believes these alternative currencies are the only "practical direction" for mitigating the bad effects of this destruction, and that they would provide a "floor" under the damage.

If you agree with the above alternative currencies strategy, please contact your state representative(s) and senator and ask them to introduce or cosponsor an alternative currency bill similar to Utah's or Georgia's or a blend of the two in the 2013 legislative session.

Thanks.

“A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”

- Edward Abbey

We just got finished watching the older movie, Red Dawn, the other day and it struck me how out of touch modern American teenagers are to the protagonists in the film. I get it; the film is homage to hyperbolic patriotism in the fight against a foreign invasion as unlikely as the scenario could be even in the heyday of US-USSR global bipolar disorder.

With three dozen acknowledged insurgencies world-wide and realistically hundreds in reality, these partisan scenarios played out against internecine rivalries for power within or around various nation-states are ubiquitous and overwhelmingly a young man’s endeavor ranging from the prepubescent fighters in the Lords Resistance Army to the twenty- and thirty-somethings that made up the bulk of the fighters in Northern Ireland, Chechnya and Afghanistan among the innumerable ranks of trigger pullers battling for some cause world-wide.

But I have to wonder just how fit the modern American teenager is for this kind of fighting whether initiated by a foreign invasion or the far more likely notion of battling a brutal and repressive regime from DC visited against its own citizens resisting the increasingly totalitarian notions of Potomac America where freedom demands a license and laws are so legion that one can’t walk through a day without violating some obscure Federal statute.

America’s youth seem to be fatally tethered to a need for information which has become so addictive that it is hard to pry one’s children from the phones and computers that shadow, if not dominate, their every waking minute and hour. One would think that a forward looking mind that has access to the greatest store of knowledge ever in human civilization would render a new golden age peopled by superior thinkers, new inventions and new areas of cognition that would propel us forward into a brightly lit future of unlimited potential.

Not so much.
