PTR44: A Semiauto Sturmgewehr

Sturmgewehr

Oleg Volk
VERBATIM POST

Had Brady Campaign and their ethically deficient ilk been around during WW2, they would have pushed for the disarmament of the guerrillas and other civilians…while turning a blind eye to massacres perpetrated by government troops and their pet paramilitaries.

STG44, the original “assault rifle”, was used for evil, indifferent and good ends alike — the rifle being no more endowed with morality than an entrenching tool or a coil of rope. Every firearm and other weapon is like that. Gun control — the effort to disarm almost everyone — necessarily assumes that our guns would be used mainly for evil. A psychologist would call that projection — a very reasonable view, considering that politicians use the guns of the state to threaten and coerce innocent people daily. Giving up our arms while they retain theirs…would not be prudent.

The rifle above is a GSG STG44 in .22LR — it looks and feels just like the original, but is cheaper to feed and doesn’t heat up uncomfortably at the forend like the 7.92x33mm version did. It will be available at the end of August.

GRNC Action Alert & clarification on Burr's stand

As a clarification, Senator Burr wants to make clear that he opposes the Lautenberg magazine ban amendment, S.A. 2575, to Cybersecurity bill S. 3414. It remains unclear what position Sen. Hagan (D-NC, 0-star) will take on this amendment.
GRNC has also learned that Sen. Burr (R-NC, ****) is not a sponsor of the “Cybersecurity Act” that is currently being used as a host for the parasitic magazine ban amendment. Burr had co-sponsored S.2151 “Secure IT Act” that is related to the amended bill S.3414 through S.2105, “Cybersecurity Act of 2012”.

*** BREAKING UPDATE ***
A short while ago Adam’s employer Vante released this statement.

Adam Smith was fired.

The following is a statement from Vante:

Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A. Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company.

The actions of Mr. Smith do not reflect our corporate values in any manner. Vante is an equal opportunity company with a diverse workforce, which holds diverse opinions. We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.

We hope that the general population does not hold Mr. Smith’s actions against Vante and its employees.

After abusing a Chick-fil-A employee – telling her to quit her job, Adam is fired.
There is some justice in this world after all.
Congratulations to everyone who spoke out against this goon.

Honestly, this guy is so full of hate himself he can’t even see his own hypocrisy. Yet notice the love and gentleness that Rachel displays to him even though he is bad mouthing her company and even insults her. Apparently Mr. Smith removed the video, probably because of the numerous dislikes, but was again re-uploaded.

Government Motors Loses Taxpayer’s ‘Investments’

Freedom Outpost
VERBATIM POST

Well the news is out about General Motors has failed the taxpayers, who by force of the federal government, that invested in the company. Yeah I know we didn’t have a say in the “investment,” but Barack Obama didn’t mind “investing” our money in the corporation now known as Government Motors.

In May National Review was already reporting,

Three years ago his administration invested more than $100 billion in taxpayer money to bail out General Motors. On Tuesday, the entire company, not just what the government owns, was worth less than $34 billion. By anyone’s definition, that investment is a glaring failure. Yet over the last few days the Obama campaign, in a $25 million marketing blitz, has flooded the airwaves with ads in battleground states, claiming the bailout should be counted a rousing success.

Unfortunately, assertions that “all loans have been repaid to the federal government,” that the bailout “saved more than one million American jobs,” that “U.S. automakers are hiring hundreds of thousands of new workers,” that GM is again the “number-one automaker” — all are based on creative accounting.

The money the government spent adds up quickly: $50 billion in TARP bailout funds, a special exemption waiving payment of $45.4 billion in taxes on future profits, an exemption for all product liability on cars sold before the bailout, $360 million in stimulus funds, and the $7,500 tax credit for those who buy the Chevy Volt. GM’s share of other programs is harder to quantify but includes, for example, some of the $15.2 billion that went to Cash for Clunkers. Those costs are in addition to the billions taken from GM’s bondholders by the Obama administration.

Now it’s come out that GM’s profits are down a whopping 41%! The Guardian reports,

GM’s CEO Dan Akerson said: ‘We have more work to do to offset the headwinds we face.’

General Motors’ profits fell 41% in the second quarter as troubles in Europe undercut strong sales in North America.

America’s largest automaker made $1.5bn in the second quarter of 2012, compared with $2.5bn for the same period last year. Revenue fell to $37.6bn from $39.4bn in the second quarter of 2011. The results exceeded analysts’ estimates, but further underlined Europe’s drag on the US economy.

“Our results in North America were solid, but we clearly have more work to do to offset the headwinds we face, especially in regions like Europe and South America,” said GM chairman and CEO Dan Akerson. “Despite the challenging environment, GM has now achieved 10 consecutive quarters of profitability, which is a milestone the company has not achieved in more than a decade.”

Now remember, one of Barack Obama’s campaign slogan was “Osama Bin Laden is dead, General Motors is alive?” I’m thinking they might want to rethink that slogan. On second, thought let’s hope they keep it.

Obama Campaign Sues to Restrict Military Voting

soldier_5

While Barack Obama and the Democrats like to give lip service to our men and women in uniform, it’s what they do they betrays their rhetoric. He likes to get his picture with troops even though behind closed doors they are giving him the finger and sleeping during his speeches. This all makes things quite interesting when both the Obama campaign and the Democrat party are suing to restrict the military’s ability to vote in the upcoming election.

On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."

Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military are given three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as "arbitrary" and having "no discernible rational basis," I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women's time and their obligations to their sworn duty.

The National Defense Committee reports:

[f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote.

I think its unconscionable that we as a nation wouldn't make it as easy as possible for members of the military to vote. They arguably have more right to vote than the rest of us, since it is their service and sacrifice that ensures we have the right to vote in the first place.

Another ding-a-ling all in one day: Hate Gun Control?

Via Paul AKA Zoomie

I think you should be allowed to have a deer rifle if you actually go hunting, or maybe a shotgun if you live on a farm........As a society, we should make it almost impossible to own assault rifles
Only in Summer can you get the bad craziness of the last week. When the weather is hot, people seem to take leave of their senses. While you are sitting in an air conditioned refuge somewhere just trying to keep one foot in front of the other, somewhere someone is all fueled up on copious amounts of light beer and bath salts, frothing at the mouth due to the heat. You show me a good heat wave, and I will show you senseless violence.

There are three ways to deal with The End of Days. Some people turn to religion, the time proven opiate of the masses. A nice air conditioned church may have some upside on a sunny humid Sunday, I’ll give ya that. Who doesn’t like a dude in a beard strumming an acoustic playing a hymn? Still, what are you going to do Mon-Sat? I have been focused on the second time proven template. I have been on a game plan of “making it all go away” with gallons of Stone Pale Ale and Founder’s All Day IPA, floating around in my kayak, and avoiding eye contact with anyone even slightly off-kilter. While this is actually a way of hiding in plain sight, you can probably let a few weeks slip past and look up to discover its Autumn. So how else do you get through Summer? The third way is one proving more popular of late, stocking up on weapons and letting it all hang out. Really going for it, you know?

Let’s take that movie theater shooting from last week… I think we can all agree that perhaps it may be time to have a real discussion about gun control.

Auditing Shooting Rampage Statistics

Via The Feral Irishman

Last week I posted a graphic on the Silver Circle Facebook page claiming the average number of people killed in mass shootings when stopped by police is 18.25, and the average number of people killed in mass shootings when stopped by civilians is 2.2. I based it on the 10 shootings I covered in last week’s Pop Friday post and I did the math myself.

The graphic was met with great enthusiasm and much skepticism. Leave it to Facebook users to demand an audit on a meme. So, I started over, only much more meticulous this time. I compiled and analyzed 93 shootings, and I am now prepared to present my findings, complete with a link to all the data. But here’s a spoiler… It’s not that different.

Rayville Elementary, Failing Louisiana School, Will Not Transfer White Students Out Because Of 1960s Court Ruling (LETTER)

Rayville Elementary School

Rayville Elementary School in Louisiana received a failing grade this year, based on the state's School Performance Scores. Under the state's Public School Choice policy, eligible students in schools flagged as failing and in need of certain levels of improvement can transfer to an "academically acceptable school."

But an interesting and controversial issue has arisen that may actually challenge equal opportunity intended by the law. In a letter to parents dated July 25, Rayville Elementary school officials inform families of the school's "F" grade and list two other institutions -- with letter grades C- and B -- that the parents can choose to transfer their children to. But there's a disclaimer:

Please note that white students at Rayville Elementary School will not be allowed to transfer to the listed schools due to the present provisions issued in the federal Richland Parish School desegregation case.

The case in question refers to a 1968 court decision that, in an effort to maintain desegregated schools, prohibits white students from leaving schools if their departure could cause the school to be considered "all-Negro."

"This, in effect, has backfired," one forum-goer writes on ADISC.org. "White students at this failing school are now being discriminated against; their race means that they are not allowed to leave this failing school."

Chick-fil-A 'Set a World Record'

The Weekly Standard
VERBATIM POST

Pastor Rick Warren reported last night on Twitter that fast food chain Chick-fil-A "set a world record" yesterday. His claim is based off a phone call he had with Dan Cathy, the CEO of Chick-fil-A who ignited a culture war when he expressed his preference for traditional marriage.

@dancathy just called me. has already set a world record today, with 7 more hrs to go in the West.

Chick-fil-A hasn't released sales figures from yesterday, which was supposed to be appreciation day for supporters. But there are many reports of huge lines outside the stores.

On the Way to Fast and Furious Accountability: Round On

Photobucket

Yesterday Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Charles Grassley issued a 211-page report and more than 2,000 documents, pinning much of the blame for Operation Fast and Furious on five ATF supervisors. This is the first in a series of three reports expected to be released.

An initial look at the report and the documents reminds us of a few things and also brings us new information.

First, it was just over a month ago when Attorney General Eric Holder became the first sitting cabinet member in history to be held in civil and criminal contempt of Congress. In yesterday’s document dump, an email from former Arizona U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, the man responsible for overseeing Fast and Furious on the ground level in Phoenix on behalf of the Department of Justice, shows there was discussion about Holder in relation to Fast and Furious.

U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke apparently viewed it [Fast and Furious] as such a model case that he was working to have Attorney General Holder attend the takedown press conference scheduled for January 2011. On December 14, 2010 (just hours before Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was shot), Burke sent an e-mail to his staff with the subject “Fast and Furious.”

Americans Turn Out in Droves to Support Chick-Fil-A

Americans have turned out all over the country today to stand in support of Chick-Fil-A. A minor controversy broke out weeks ago when the chicken fast-food chain's CEO, Dan Cathy, made public comments to a reporter about his financial donations to pro-family groups.

In response, liberal lawmakers around the country expressed outrage. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino declared that Chick-Fil-A wasn't welcome in his town, and both Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and a local Chicago Alderman said they'd work to block any proposed restaurants being built in their jurisdiction despite the obvious violation of the First Amendment that implies.

Menino and Emanuel backed off their stances, but former Arkansas Gov. and Fox News host Mike Huckabee thought that pro-family Americans should stand in solidarity with Chick-Fil-A and declared that August 1 would be "Chick-Fil-A day."

Reports have flowed in throughout the country of massive lines for the chicken chain. Here are just a few of the photos.

Rebuttal: Do You Really Believe So Jim?

Via ojibwa

I was sent a link to this article by Jim Karger titled “When they come for your guns… you will turn them over” and I felt bound to reply. Jim is a lawyer living in Mexico and probably has little to no contact with the real population of the nation and almost assuredly has never met an Oathkeeper, III%’er, Patriot, and probably has little contact with Veterans. Take the time to read the article. This is my open rebuttal to Jim’s article.

“Jim after reading your article you miss the 500 lb. gorilla in the room. Those vehicles may roll down the street, and the powers that be may try to take our arms. But ya know what? There’s a couple of million plus of us. And conveniently distributed among those millions in growing numbers are something that every Law Enforcement Officer is scared shitless of – a determined individual that believes in the Constitution. Make no mistake – once the government decides that the Second Amendment is no longer valid the vast majority of firearms owners believe the government will no longer stop at anything to subjugate them. We vastly outnumber the combined total of all Law Enforcement Officers. We know where they live, where they shop for their groceries, etc. For them such an action would be like fighting an insurgency in Iraq or Afghanistan without the protection of COBs or FOBs.

Win Olympic Gold, Pay the IRS

Via Nancy

U.S. Olympic medal winners will owe up to $9,000 to the IRS.

— While 529 hardworking athletes proudly represent the United States in the 2012 Olympics, any medals and money they earn wearing red, white and blue will be taxed by the IRS. According to research done by the Americans for Tax Reform Foundation, U.S. Olympic athletes are liable to pay income tax on medals earned and prizes received at the London games.

American medalists face a top income tax rate of 35 percent. Under U.S. tax law, they must add the value of their Olympic medals and prizes to their taxable income. It is therefore easy to calculate the tax bite on Olympic glory.

At today’s commodity prices, the value of a gold medal is about $675. A silver medal is worth about $385 while a bronze medal is worth under $5.

There are also prizes that accompany each medal: $25,000 for gold, $15,000 for silver, and $10,000 for bronze.

So how much will U.S. Olympic medal winners have to pay in taxes to the IRS?
