Adult" Danger Close" 3-Day (Hardy)

Via Survival

"In the United States neither paper currency nor deposits have value as commodities. Intrinsically, a dollar bill is just a piece of paper, deposits merely book entries. Coins do have some intrinsic value as metal, but generally far less than their face value. What, then, makes these instruments - checks, paper money, and coins - acceptable at face value in payment of all debts and for other monetary uses? Mainly, it is the confidence people have that they will be able to exchange such money for other financial assets and for real goods and services whenever they choose to do so."

SWR's Administrator, Hamp. (Ex SF Vietnam. BT)

CLARKE COUNTY [AL] JOURNAL, August 27, 1863, p. 2, c. 2

A Hellish Outrage by Yankees.—by a letter which has
reached this city from Wetzen County, (says the Richmond Examiner,) we
learn the particulars of a most revolting outrage committed by some
Yankee fiends upon the person of the wife of Mr. L. S. Hall, member of
the State Legislature from Wetzel, and one of the first advocates of
secession in his section. Mrs. Hall had her clothes tied over her head
and in that condition she was thrust into the street of New
Marketsville, her husband's place of residence. Report says that an
outrage, to which death is preferable, was perpetrated upon her
person.—The Yankee hellhounds afterwards burned down Mr. Hall's
outhouses and ransacked his house.

CLARKE COUNTY [AL] JOURNAL, August 27, 1863, p. 2, c. 3

Yankee Fiendishness.—Mississippi has been reserved for
the final capping of the climax of Yankee brutality, says the
Mississippian. Not satisfied with burning, devastating towns, cities,
farm houses and plantations, their barbaric instincts found vent in the
perpetration of an act at which humanity revolts. We are informed that
Mrs. Fort, a widow lady, residing in Madison County, six miles from
Canton, a sister of B. Ricks, a wealthy and influential citizen of that
county, was recently stripped and upon her back was inflicted 500
stripes with a leather strap, by two Yankee brutes. She was so badly
bruised that fears were entertained for her life. If such acts as these
do not fire up the blood of Mississippians and Southrons everywhere,
then, indeed, may we conclude that justice has fled to brutish beasts.
It is, however, only another dark chapter in the book of fiendish Yankee
monstrosities.

CLARKE COUNTY [AL] JOURNAL, August 27, 1863, p. 2, c. 5

Yankee Outrage.—A few days ago, says the Mobile Tribune
of the 23d inst., a party of Yankee marines came ashore not far from
Bayou la Batre, and waded to the house of a Mrs. Neill. She was alone
at the time.—They endeavored to extort from her information of the
number and position of our troops in the neighborhood as well as
information of the localities, &c. She either had no information to
give or was determined not to gratify the ruffians. The result was the
most barbarous maltreatment. After beating her severely, they tied her
with her child in her arms to a tree, where she was found not long
afterwards by her husband, who was returning in company with other
persons from the saltworks of that section. The scoundrels got off
safely, although they were almost within call of a portion of our force
in the neighborhood.

CLARKE COUNTY [AL] JOURNAL, September 10, 1863, p. 2, c. 2

Yankee Outrages on Women.
A gentleman who left Winchester on last Thursday, says
that a Yankee cavalry force, numbering about one hundred and fifty,
visited the town on Monday morning last, and remained there several
hours. Their force in the Valley below Winchester is not large.
At Martinsburg they are reported to have from 1,500 to
2,000, and at Charlestown a small cavalry force and two regiments of
infantry.
From Loudon county we have a report that the Yankees are
behaving with greater fiendishness than has heretofore characterized
their conduct else where, and that they have in several instances
violated the persons of some of the most respectable ladies in the
county. Three sisters, young, intelligent, and of excellent social
position, have been made the victims of their lust, because a brother of
theirs was a Captain in the Confederate service. A short time since
they attempted to outrage the person of the wife of a clergyman, who is
also in our service. She was stopping with a friend near Leesburg,
where her room was entered by a Federal officer, who locked the door
behind him. Her struggles and screams attracted the attention of a
negro man on the premises, who ran to the window of the room, which
caused the wretch to desist for an instant in the prosecution of his
infernal designs. In this interval the lady jerked his pistol from his
side and fired at him, while he ran off, and with an associate mounted
his horse and left, leaving his pistol behind him.]

Could GOP delegate count really be this close?

A report released today by the Rick Santorum campaign says that the GOP primary tabulations being assembled by the media are wrong – and the former Pennsylvania senator actually is much closer to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney than is being portrayed.

And the report said Santorum will follow what always was expected to be a “difficult” month of April with the possibility of up to seven victories in May, which would leave him “heading into the June 5th primaries with a freight train of momentum.”

The report by Strategic National was released this afternoon by the campaign.

The report says a much more accurate assessment of the delegate totals in the GOP nomination race at this point is 571 for Romney, 342 for Santorum, 158 for Newt Gingrich and 91 for Ron Paul.

The Wall Street Journal, on the other hand, lists 658 for Romeny, 281 for Santorum, 135 for Gingrich and 51 for Ron Paul. Real Clear Politics lists 655 for Romney, 272 for Santorum, 140 for Gingrich and 67 for Paul.

'Colored Confederate' has his day in Monroe

Re-post

Mattie Clyburn Rice of High Point will take part in an unusual ceremony today, but then, she’s an unusual woman.

She’s the 87-year-old daughter of Weary Clyburn, a “colored Confederate,” a slave who served in the Civil War.

“His is a hero’s service,” said Earl L. Ijames, a curator at the N.C. Museum of History. “Him serving is really an incredible story.”

Rice feels the same.

That’s why she’s agreed to allow the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the town of Monroe to honor her father’s memory this afternoon.

Aaron Jacob Parsons is a wanted man.

To clarify: a video filmed by @CASHton_Kutcher, starring Aaron Jacob Parsons and a cast of cowards who beat, robbed, and stripped naked a man who was defenseless, drunk, alone, and clearly in over his head, was posted to worldstar and twitter.
The initiator of the physical violence is a douche man, aspiring male model, and famous dj in the Maryland ghetto named Aaron Jacob Parsons.
This is a fact, not an allegation.
His words and mannerisms BEFORE he put his hand in the victims pocket and took his car keys, are indicative of premeditation (consideration of an act beforehand that shows an intent to commit that act).
He mentions worldstar, he chuckles about how he’s got to take the boy’s money, and then proceeds to do just exactly that. Clearly this was not done in self defense as he unconvincingly tried to make it appear on his twitter account.
I am Anthony Mandich, the person who wrote up the story and posted it at krashthrills.wordpress.com. The smug attitudes, and hysterical laughing while this guy was robbed and then stripped naked on the streets pissed off everyone on the /b/ they outed him and that’s that. Now Mr. Parsons is going to pay, hopefully with some penitentiary time.
A person who shows a shameful lack of courage in the face of danger is a coward. Aaron Parsons deleted his Twitter account and all 30,000 tweets as soon as it was clear we were onto him. I laugh at him for that. I’m grateful he’s never heard of “consciousness of guilt”. Idiot…

Sometimes There's No Choice but to 'Stand Your Ground'

U.S. News & World Report

The shooting in Sanford, Fla., confirms the value of "stand your ground" laws. As information trickles out, we learn that the shooter, George Zimmerman, had lost track of Trayvon Martin during the course of his service with the gated community's neighborhood watch.

When on his way back to his truck, there are reports that Martin came from behind and slugged Zimmerman, dropping him to the ground. Then Martin, who was 6-foot-3, jumped on top of Zimmerman and began slamming his head into the sidewalk and pummeling his face, breaking his nose and fattening his lip. This was witnessed by a resident who lives in front of where the attack occurred.

With this set of facts, we are not even dealing with Florida's SYG law. That law says that if you are in fear of your life or great bodily harm you don't have to retreat. Zimmerman had no way to retreat. The grass stains on the back of his shirt would seem to corroborate that he was simply acting in defense of his life.

If anyone has wondered why the police did not arrest Zimmerman, it's because they were looking at his broken nose and bloody head wound--plus the eyewitness reports that he was the one being pummeled--as objective evidence that Martin was the aggressor.

Even though Zimmerman was part of the community neighborhood watch system, some have questioned why he "pursued" Martin. Did Zimmerman make any threatening acts toward Martin that then incited Martin to respond? Or was Zimmerman simply trying to determine the location of a potential perpetrator for the police? These are facts that are unclear right now, and it might take further investigation to ferret out these details.

But Americans must avoid a rush to judgment. Years ago, Richard Jewell was "convicted" by the media and the American public as being the 1996 Olympic bomber, when in fact he was the hero who spotted the bomb in the first place, saving many lives. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed and Jewell was exonerated.

The SYG laws are an important tool in protecting the right of self-defense. Asking a potential victim to flee could expose his or her back to an assailant. And that could be very dangerous. Victims should be able to defend themselves before they have run out of options.

Flagging the Museum Of The Confederacy – Appomattox, March 31, 2012

Photo Album
More and videos at bottom

The first Flaggers arrived on the scene at 7:30 a.m. Thanks to the scouting efforts of Va Flaggers, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and Mechanized Cavalry members Capt. Tucker and Sgt. Wells, (whose intel also provided the now infamous Ru Paul exhibit photo) we were able to secure permission to use the property of Doug's Auto repair shop on the corner directly across from the new museum. We had ample parking and the use of road footage and an embankment that put us directly in front of every visitor as they arrived and departed.

We set up by lining the road with stick flags, and positioning large flags in stands along the embankment. Grayson Jennings secured several flags with ground stakes and was able to hang a 6x9 at a great vantage point. Bob Harris and Ashleigh Moody positioned themselves with a banner directly across from the entrance and would hold that position for the next 8 hours! Early on, Billy Bearden set up at the main intersection, on a small hill overlooking the county and state police and passing traffic. Passersby loved the Flags. Visitors were mixed about 60/40. TriPp Lewis, Jack Lewis, and Karen Cooper joined him at various times. He also placed 3 stick flags on a nearby chain link fence, visible from the road, since the MoC was not going to fly any on the grounds. He stayed on the hill until the SCVMC arrived, waving his flag as they drove by.

A museum official approached and asked what group we were with. When we told her we were the Va Flaggers, she began to scan her clipboard, looking for our group to determine our place in the line up. We told her we were pretty sure we were NOT on her list.

When it dawned on her that we were THE protestors, she proceeded to inform us that the museum was expecting us and had set aside an “area” just for us. We thanked her for the offer, but told her we liked the position we had taken. She then told us that she was sympathetic to our cause, believed that the cause of the flag ban was political correctness and was not right, but that law enforcement would be coming to make us move. We assured her that we had permission to use the land and that the side of the road was a right of way, and that we would NOT be moving. She left without satisfaction, calling over her shoulder “Blessed are the Peacemakers!” We reminded her that peace could be made very easily. All they needed to do was run a Confederate flag up one of the poles and we would pack up and go away. She said she would take our message back to her boss.

We never heard from any other museum officials.

The Mechanized Cavalry arrived around 9:00. What a beautiful sight and sound as they rolled in! Mechanized member Tracy Wright brought signs that displayed our messages for all to see. We spent the next hour greeting guests, employees, and visitors as they arrived.

Before the ceremony and processional started, Susan Hathaway was interviewed by Channel 13 Lynchburg. http://www.wset.com/story/17302915/museum-of-the-confederacy-opens-in-appomattox

At this point, there were about 59 Flaggers on the embankment

Just before the Processional opened the ceremony, the MD Color Guard arrived, in spite of the request by the Commander-In-Chief to boycott the ceremony. Ironically, we were positioned on opposite sides of the street, directly across from each other. No negative comments were vocalized to either passerbys or the color guard across the road from us that could be heard. All Flaggers conducted themselves with the honor and dignity due the ancestors and flags we were representing. Outsiders and detractors (even some within our own Heritage community) predicted trouble, but they were sadly mistaken.

At 10 a.m., the Maryland led guard began to march up the road to the MoC. After they entered, the gates were shut, and the SCV Mechanized Cavalry lined up and marched across, with Flaggers included. We walked around the gates unmolested and wound our way past the crowd, who turned and cheered as we passed, and took position within 20 feet of the attendees. Billy tried to approach, but was stopped, we can only assume due to his flag. Susan approached and was also stopped, but only temporarily as she took photos. We held our position at the rear of the crowd and stood silently during the ceremony.

THEN, during the speech given by Bud Robertson, the SCV Banner Plane arrived! It was low, loud and fairly distracting. Many stopped listening and turned cameras skyward to take pictures of the slow moving "REUNIFICATION BY BAYONET SCV 1896"

As the U.S. and State Flags were raised on the grounds of the “Reunification Promenade”, a giant Battle Flag was also being raised, just across the street and in open view of all. Cheers were heard from the flaggers, as well as the museum crowd when it reached full height! It was a glorious sight to behold! Seen below is MoC member Dick Knight, who assured us that a flag would be up, on the grounds before years' end. "Money talks", he said.

After the service, the Mechanized Cavalry made its way to the Reunification Promenade and stood in silent and gallant protest. From our vantage point across the street, it made a beautiful sight!

It was also during this time that Susan Hathaway was interviewed by a reporter from the News Advance. The resulting article was picked up by many newspapers, including the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

http://www2.newsadvance.com/news/2012/mar/31/museum-confederacy-appomattox-stages-grand-opening-ar-1809558/

Flaggers ate their packed lunches in shifts over the next hour, while a good crowd was always seen on the embankment.

Afterwards, Billy Bearden and Susan Hathaway made their way over to take a look inside the museum. They encountered no interference, and were free to walk around the grounds with their flags. After viewing the exhibits, they took off their Va Flagger badges and asked an employee what was going on with the people standing out there with flags. Her response was almost ENTIRELY inaccurate.

She stated the protesters were mad because there was no Confederate flag flying (true), and that they wanted the US Flag taken down (NOT true). She said the Museum did not want to fly the flag because Appomattox was all about reunification (NOT true), and that the protesters insisted on flying a Confederate Battle Flag (NOT true) which had so many “bad things” associated with it.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with Flagging and great conversations with those who came to see what all the flags were all about! The Mayor of Appomattox, having heard from Commander Givens personally, stopped by to chat with us. He told us that he definitely personally supported a Confederate flag being flown, but was unsure about how to effectively make it happen.

Throughout the day, we would count Flaggers, who traveled from a total of 6 states, including Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, and, of course, Virginia! By day’s end, we had recorded the names of 89 folks who came to stand with us! Reaction throughout the day was overwhelmingly positive. Most people who were unaware of the fact that Museum officials refused to fly a Confederate flag, thought it wrong and agreed with our protest.

The VA Flaggers gave a rousing cheer as the men of the of SCV Camp 1694 "Flat Top Copperheads" arrived at the museum late in the day, after drilling nearby. Many of the men of this camp are also re-enactors with the 1st Stuart Horse Artillery. They were scheduled to have a bronze 12 pounder fire rounds as the ribbon was cut to open the MOC. After all the turmoil and refusal of the MOC to raise a Confederate Flag, they withdrew from participating. Blaine Hypes met with Linda Lipscomb on 3/27 to inform her of their decision. It was an honor and privilege to have them join us for dinner at Granny Bee’s, where food, fun, and fellowship were plentiful!

Since Saturday, we have had almost universally positive press. Our Anti-Confederate blogger friends have had so much trouble with finding anything to post about us, that they have resorted to pulling controversy out of thin air...

Following what turned out to be a WILDLY successful day for the Va Flaggers and the SCV, where 89 people gathered to stand with flags against the Museum of the Confederacy and its refusal to fly a Confederate flag on the grounds of the new museum at Appomattox... without even the SLIGHTEST HINT of any kind of controversial behavior, our friends in the Anti-Confederate blogger world were reduced to scraping the bottom of the barrel for subject matter for their troughs, I mean, uh, blogs.

Yes...with no rude behavior from the Flaggers, and rousing support for our cause from attendees, MoC employees, and even law enforcement, these folks have decided to play the "animal cruelty" card, claiming that we somehow "spooked" the horse ridden by the man who was portraying Gen. Grant just before the re-enactment of the surrender. Seriously? Is that the best they've got? Here's the scoop:

Billy Bearden and Susan Hathaway were finishing a tour of the museum and decided to walk back across the street through the gate. As they approached the gate, they saw the men and horses heading their way, separated, and stood back, on either side of the gate. If one bothered to pay attention to the video, he/she will notice that the first three horses pass by them with no trouble. When Grant started to pass, it was obvious he was having a bit of trouble with his mount. It is ALSO obvious, if you actually WATCH the video, that Susan backs up slowly, and put the fence post between her and the horse. Contrary to what these bloggers want everyone to believe, the LAST thing on her mind was spooking that horse. Her retreat was to get as far away as she possibly could without adding to the horse's jitters.

Now...again...if you watch closely, you will see that the WIND, not SUSAN, picks up just at the time the horse starts having a little trouble, and her CBF is seen standing tall in the breeze for a few moments. Anyone who knows us knows that we would never do anything to endanger either a horse or human, but looking back on that video, we do wonder if that gust of wind might have been one of the old boys having a little fun with us out there that day. We like to think that whether we are standing on the grounds of the Old Soldier's Home in Richmond, or on land not far from Appomattox, the men we stand for are there with us, and occasionally make their presence known...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oBxrGZoqfA&context=C47ea5abADvjVQa1PpcFOLmFXzJhA4FTCZS95ljKdOSI4tR1dvWTs=

Many, many thanks to all those who came out to stand with us! It was, by far, the largest and most successful gathering for the Va Flaggers to date. We signed up many new folks, and talked with several locals in the Appomattox area about continuing the Flagging at the museum beyond this first effort. It appears that the Appomattox branch of the Virginia Flaggers may soon be forming! Special thanks to Commander Givens and the SCV National General Executive Committee, for sponsoring the banner plane and their ongoing efforts to encourage their members to act against the museum, and to the Mechanized Cavalry for their steadfast support!

Comment on: Will U.S. Troops Fire On American Citizens?

Will U.S. Troops Fire On American Citizens?

safetalker

Lets look at this with open eyes. I spent 27 Years in Green. The Generals don't give them the obvious opportunity to decline.

The troops are locked down in a pre-deployment secure facility. This has in my years been the fence outside Pope runway, the warehouse behind the PX in Baumholder Germany. These locations have two shared qualities. They had no phones, and no radios. They were also locked so no one from outside the Chain of Command could speak to you.

When you enter you place all watches, except issued watches, phones, radios, knives, except issued knives, into plastic bags with your names on them. You remove your regular patches and replace them with mission patches.

When it is time to go a truck or bus with blocked windows backs into the area and you, your ruck, and your weapon get on and sit down in your seat. When it pulls out you get your briefing.
They tell you what you will be doing. They tell you who is the enemy. They tell you what you are to do.

Just before you arrive they issue any ammo needed and you pack the mags in your ruck except for one for your weapon. Then they have you paint your face if it is not already painted.
Just as you arrive they have you put on your Chemical mask so if someone uses Tear gas it won't stop you from functioning.

Folks in this condition if your Mom and Dad saw you they wouldn't know you. If you saw them you would not recognize them with the mask on. Soldiers often have to do a head touch to tell each other.

If they send the soldiers into the cities they will make sure that they fly them in circles for 5 to 6 hours. This way they don't know where in the world they are so they will be more malleable.
They will the open fire if someone in the crowd fires at them, and you can count on an agent doing just that. You can count on agents to fire from behind and above them.

The best defense will be to carry signs identifying that you are a Patriot and where you are standing.

This will only work on the American soldiers. The ones enlisted in Europe, Mid East, and Mexico will be all energy and no care.

We Are Screwed

Our current poster for successful racial policy is, as all the world probably knows, the shooting of the improbably named Travon Martin, black, by an Hispanic improbably named Zimmerman. The death has been improbably termed, by professional blacks, “genocide.” Whatever happened to dictionaries, I wonder.

Perhaps the worst thing about the case is the appalling English it revealed, “He dont be doing nothing aint right he just….” Usually the brighter and more literate of a group spend time on the internet. Heaven help us. These inarticulate mutterings devoid of punctuation or any grasp of the structure of the language illustrate what we know but ignore: We are screwed. In 2012, in a technological society that sends space craft to Mars, we have millions of illiterates, or close enough that it doesn’t make any difference.

This, not genocide, is the worst thing afflicting blacks. Years back I walked a foot beat with a cop on Capitol Hill. The cop started chatting with a black kid of maybe eleven. He suggested mildly that the boy ought to be home reading instead of hanging out on the street. “I ain’t read no boo-oo-ook,” said the child with infinite scorn. Exactly.

Also visible in the prop-wash of the shooting is the seething, unreasoning hatred for whites. Of course not all blacks hate whites equally, or at all. If you are white, the black economist next door probably doesn’t hate you and wants for his children what you want for yours. Well and good. But I can show you parts, many parts, of Washington or Chicago or Los Angeles where, if you are white, you wouldn’t last an hour after the sun went down.

The web groans under furious denunciations of Zimmerman as a racist, cracker, redneck thug, bigot. Various blacks vow revenge. The characteristic self-pity and sense of victimhood run in full flood without a trace of thought. If Jesse Jackson has been quoted correctly, he said, “blacks are under attack” and “targeting, arresting, convicting blacks and ultimately killing us is big business.” Oh sure. Jackson, no fool, knows better, but plies his trade.

School changes lyrics from 'God Bless the USA' to 'We love the USA'

Following outrage from parents; a changed version of "God Bless the USA" has been pulled from an upcoming school assembly concert.

According to parents, children at Stall Brook Elementary school were told to sing "We love the USA" instead of "God Bless the USA" during the chorus of the popular Lee Greenwood song.

The song was scheduled to be performed at an April 12th assembly, but now has been pulled.

United States v. $35,131

Via Your Crazy Uncle

Reader Rob Carty has directed our attention to this week’s opinion by Judge Lynn N. Hughes of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas in the forfeiture case of The United States of America v. $35,131.00 in United States Currency. Mr Carty briefly summarizes the decision:

Judge Hughes spanked Homeland Security for tricking an American family into “evading” their duty to report how much cash they were taking out of the country. It contains some very choice words. My favorite quote: “In addition to overreaching the people whom they are to serve, three officers wasted one-half day watching four others embarrass themselves.”

Here is my favorite quote:

A lack of leadership at the agency allowed this. Its mission statement – which none of the officers could recall at the trial – is to serve the American public with vigilance, integrity, and professionalism. They displayed none of these. The agency says that integrity is its cornerstone; that its officers are guided by the highest ethical and moral principles. A gang of armed security officers bullied this family – a family who cooperated with the officers to their detriment. Our homeland will not be secure by these rascals. They played agency games, abused the people they are to serve, and violated their oaths to support the Constitution.

For a short opinion, it is full of quotable quotes. Here it is in its entirety, without the section breaks or footnotes, under the heading Opinion on Void Seizure:

Wis. Gov. Walker: Opponents Attacking My Family

Of course, it's just those impartial liberals.......

Wisconsin’s bitter recall battle has become so bad that Gov. Scott Walker’s family members have been targeted by his opponents. Walker, in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, said his children and his mother were yelled at while out shopping and his children targeted on Facebook.

“I have thousands of people bussed in to my home in Wauwatosa where I've got two high school sons living, and I've got parents in their 70s,” he said in an interview on The Brody File. “Last year, my 16-year-old and my mother in her 70s were at a grocery store and got yelled at. I've had my kids targeted on Facebook; we've had all those sorts of things.”

Search warrant records obtained Wednesday in the beating death of an Iraqi-American woman show a family in turmoil and cast doubt on the likelihood that her slaying was a hate crime.

Shaima Alawadi, a 32-year-old mother of five, was apparently planning to divorce her husband and move to Texas when she was killed, a family member told investigators, according to the court documents.

The records obtained at El Cajon Superior Court also reveal Alawadi’s 17-year-old daughter, Fatima Alhimidi, who called 911 to report the attack, was distraught over her pending arranged marriage to a cousin.

A search of Fatima’s cellphone records shows that while she was being interviewed by investigators hours after the attack, someone sent the teen a text message that read, “The detective will find out tell them (can’t) talk,” the affidavit states.

Democrats Responsible for Black Culture of Anger By Lloyd Marcus

Via Hard Times Prepardness

Black twenty-year-old male Danielle Simpson, with two black associates, was interrupted by 84-year-old Geraldine Davidson while in the process of burglarizing Davidson's home. The group duct-taped her mouth, bound her hands and legs, and threw the white former schoolteacher and church organist into the trunk of her own car. Ms. Davidson was severely brutalized before the trio eventually tied a rope attached to a cinderblock around her legs and threw her, still alive, into the river.

Brutal crimes are not unique.

But here is what makes this case remarkable. For seven hours, Simpson rode around in Ms. Davidson's car, stopping for fast food and opening the truck to show off his victim to his black friends. Due to fingerprints left on the car, detectives estimate that around ten people viewed Ms. Davidson in the trunk.

Incredibly, not one person called the police or lobbied to set the poor elderly woman free. What could possibly harden these black youths to such an extent?

Perhaps one of the detectives investigating the case nailed it when he described the black criminals and their friends as part of a "culture of anger."

Next Great Depression? MIT researchers predict ‘global economic collapse’ by 2030

Via Billy

A new study from researchers at MIT and produced for an international think tank, says that the world could suffer from "global economic collapse" and "precipitous population decline" if people continue to consume the world's resources at the current pace.

Smithsonian Magazine writes that Australian physicist Graham Turner says "the world is on track for disaster" and that current evidence coincides with a famous, and in some quarters, infamous, academic report from 1972 entitled, "The Limits to Growth."

Produced for a group called The Club of Rome, the study's researchers created a computing model to forecast different scenarios based on the current models of population growth and global resource consumption. The study also took into account different levels of agricultural productivity, birth control and environmental protection efforts. Twelve million copies of the report were produced and distributed in 37 different languages.

Bring the Compact Back to Its Original Principles

Below, Jefferson seemed to be warning of the Constitutional crisis of the late 1850s and the need for the States to “arrest the march of government” which had been threatening its creators with military action since the days of Andrew Jackson. He instructs a solution to crisis by a convening of the States to modify their agreement, not the agent or other States warring upon a free people.

Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman
North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission
www.ncwbts150.com
"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Bring the Compact Back to Its Original Principles:

“The [Supreme Court] judges are practicing on the Constitution by inferences, analogies, and sophisms, as they would on an ordinary law. They do not seem aware that it is not even a constitution, formed by a single authority, and subject to a single superintendence and control; but that it is a compact of many independent powers, every single one of which claims an equal right to understand it, and to require its observance.

However strong the cord of compact may be, there is a point of tension at which it will break. A few such doctrinal decisions…..may induce [two or three large States] to join in arresting the march of government, and in arousing the co-States to pay some attention to what is passing, to bring back the compact to its original principles, or to modify it legitimately by the express consent of the parties themselves, and not by the usurpation of their created agents.

They imagine they can lead us into a consolidated government, while their road leads directly to its dissolution.”

CLEBURNE GRAPHIC NOVEL TRAILER

Could well have come to happen, as Cleburne vouched for this in 1864.

"Well, Govan, if we must die, let us die like men."
Gen. Patrick R. Cleburne

Via Ryan

Who was Patrick R. Cleburne?

Patrick Ronayne Cleburne was born on March 17, 1828, in Ovens, County Cork, Ireland. He was an Anglo-Irish soldier who served in the 41st Regiment of Foot of the British Army. He is, however, best known for his service to the Confederates States of America during the War Between the States.

He was only eighteen months old when his Mother died, and a young fifteen when his Father passed away. He tried to follow in his Father’s footsteps, Dr. Joseph Cleburne, in the field of medicine but failed his entrance exam to Trinity College of Medicine in 1848. He immigrated to America three years later with two brothers and a sister and made his home in Helena, Arkansas.

In 1860 Cleburne became a naturalized citizen, lawyer and was popular with the residents.

He sided with the Confederacy at the outbreak of the War Between the States and progressed from the rank of private of the local militia to major general.

Cleburne, like many Southerners, did not support the institution of slavery but chose to serve his adopted country out of love for the Southern folks and their quest for independence. In 1864, he advocated the emancipation of Black men to serve in the Confederate Armed Forces. In early 1865, his dream became a reality but it was then too late—the war was lost.

Cleburne participated in the Battles of Shiloh, Richmond, Perryville, Stones River, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Ringgold Gap and Franklin. He was killed at the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee, on November 30, 1864.

Due to his brilliant strategy on the battlefield Gen. Patrick R. Cleburne was nicknamed “Stonewall Jackson of the West.”

Cleburne said before his death at the Battle of Franklin:

“If this cause, that is dear to my heart, is doomed to fail, I pray heaven may let me fall with it, my face is toward the enemy and my arm battling for that which I know is right.”

He was engaged to Susan Tarleton of Mobile, Alabama.

$20,000 reward for arrest and conviction of culprits who stole General Forrest's bust

NB FORREST REWARD - BILLBOARDS IN SELMA ALA

Dear Gentlemen:

Please find attached the two billboards that we have put up in Selma - I hope you all approve...we think they look great...and the beauty of the one across the bridge...the long one...is that Rose Sanders will have to look straight at the General EVERY time she crosses that bridge headed to her propaganda museum, i.e. the voting rights museum! The other one is located on Broad Street..the main drag headed north outta town...located VERY high in the sky as well...hovering right over the Cheers Package Store...where the "demoncrats" go to buy their spirits! We think they are very strategically located and both signs are lighted! Hopefully, someone will come forward and be more loyal to their pocket and their "habit" than to Rose Sanders!

Butch & I and the Friends of Forrest want to express our deepest gratitude to the AlaDiv SCV and to the National HQ for committing this money in our quest to find the perpetrator(s) who stole the NBF Bust. This was NOT a scrap metal theft...it was a political statement! James Perkins is going to run for mayor again...and this was a "welcome back" gift! Y'all please pray for Selma...that George Evans will defeat James Perkins and we won't be dealing with him again!

We've just returned from Shiloh...for the Sesquicentennial Battle of Shiloh reenactment...at the Blue/Gray Alliance battlefield. We stayed at the Quality Inn in Savannah...while on our two-day trip there Butch & I spent close to $1000 (gas, food, event tickets, commemorative T-Shirts, gifts at the Shiloh National Park gift shop, etc.)...which makes me think about all these other Southern towns that we go to (Franklin, TN, Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, Gettysburg, PA, New Orleans, Corinth,MS, Linden, TN, Richmond, VA, Memphis, TN, Nashville,TN just to name a few!)...and many we have not visited yet...but the leaders of those towns have the vision and the fiscal responsibility to their community to capitalize on their historical assets to bring those tourist dollars into their economy. Selma Alabama is sitting on a historical goldmine...steeped very deep in several eras of history...but unfortunately the leaders of Selma...both at City Hall and the Chamber of Commerce do not have the vision or the courage to take a stand and develop our historic resources to bring those tourist dollars into our extremely depressed economy!

As I have said many times...ordinarily when a historical monument is erected & dedicated, you plan the program, the people come, reflect on the historical significance of the day, enjoy the fellowship and then go home & get on with your lives...NOT!!! Not in Selma, Alabama...because we are being held hostage by a lunatic fringe element in this town...that fought against the restoration of the St. James Hotel - screaming that it was a reminder of slavery times when folks came to stay at the hotel while buying & selling slaves on Water Ave...it reopened in about 1999...a class convention hotel - one of about 3 working historic hotels left in the country located on a river bank...this same element tried to stop the Battle of Selma from being produced here in the 1980's....it was reported during those early years of the Battle reenactment that the dollar turned over 7 times..generating over a million dollars into Selma's economy! Also, while Mayor Smitherman was still mayor so many years ago, the SCV National organization was in search of a location for their national headquarters...and were entertaining the prospect of locating in an antebellum house here in Selma...but ohhhhh noooooo....that lunatic fringe through a big fit...wrote to the paper that if Smitherman allowed the SCV to locate here it would only prove Selma to be the "racist" town it always had been! Tennessee...got it! A state that does not require state income tax to be paid!!!!

Now, the NB Forrest monument was erected in Oct 2000...unfortunately, the thug mayor defeated Mayor Smitherman and Perkins became Rose Sander's political puppet. The first 10 days that the monument was at the Smitherman Building Museum, THREE tour buses came to see it! Benny Austin & I held "class on the ground" over there one evening with a group of multi-cultural all inclusive and diverse students from Boston...they left that evening with a totally different perspective about the South and about Gen Forrest...which proves ignorance is our enemy...TRUTH and EDUCATION are our weapons! This monument was put here for historical & tourism reasons...our intent was to showcase Selma's 19th century history and pay homage to the military genius who came here to defend Selma from the invading yankees...inject a shot in Selma's economic arm and enhance Selma's tourist dollars....but obviously this is NOT the priority of "those people" in charge of this town. We listen to Rose Sanders' radio station (Hate 105) and all the hate & venom she spews on a daily basis...it is appalling that the FCC lets her get away with this!!! Plus, it really infuriates me that she is the wife of a loooong term state senator and his salary is paid with our tax dollars that go to their household!!! Rose Sanders & her husband Hank and their partner the late JL Chestnut single-handedly DESTROYED the Selma City School system in 1990...Gov. Guy Hunt had to send the National Guard back in here almost like in 1965!!! But the leaders of this town allow her to committ economic extortion against Selma and continue to dance to the beat of her drum...it was her radio talk show broadcast that obviously inspired someone to steal the NBF bust...she has been very vocal and visable with her contempt for Selma's 19th century history and especially Gen Forrest to the point the police have had to remove her from the city council chambers during the council meetings on many occasions!

This monument project was and is a labor of love for me...it was a dream come true to finally have a beautiful monument here honoring General Forrest who so richly deserved that honor for his courage to come to defend Selma when the battle was lost even before he got here with only about 3000 troops against mammoth odds of James H. Wilson's 13,000 plus raiders! We are planning steps of "extreme" security measures for the monument & replacement bust...and the entire Confederate circle...it will be a "security & beautification" project...and that's what we will focuse on for the immediate situation. The WAR AIN'T over yet...we don't plan to surrender!

The 13th Annual Forrest Celebration here at Fort Dixie will have a deeper meaning this year...due to the national reunion of the SCV in Murfreesboro, TN the second week in July, our celebration will be held on July 28...we invite you all to come this year...hopefully gas won't be $6 a gallon...but y'all just pile up in a van or SUV and bring a bunch with you & share the expense! We are planning a special program this year that we feel sure will guarantee you the BEST day in Dixie you have ever had!

Again, thank you to you ALL for your continued faithful support toward our efforts here in Selma to preserve our history, heritage and Southern culture!

Confederately yours,
Pat & Butch Godwin

June 15, 2010 Update.

(A picture to go with the story. A newly found cousin, * & **Ed Harrell, took me here a few days after our 2010 Pippen Reunion. Under restoration, the brick foundation, and the two chimneys which are used by the eight fireplaces, are all new. I could not find any rot on all the exposed, weathered boards! Just amazing. BT)

*Ed said that when Aunt Bithiah's daughters, would go out that the buggy was brought around to the side porch (You can see the roof above the large bush on the right) so that the girl's feet would not have to touch the ground.

"In Memory Of Miriam," Edna Guilford Cook, 1957

Near Palmyra Plantation, Martin County, NC

"A company of Yankee troops, foraging for food, came to the plantation. A faithful old darkey had already taken the carriage horses and hidden them in Ward's Swamp, near the house, and had hidden the family silver down in the well. The Yankee troops killed every chicken and hog on the place and were cooking in the big iron wash-pot in the yard. About this time, other soldiers discovered casks of apple brandy stored in the gin-house, had broken into them and gotten royally drunk. It was a very anxious moment at this time for Bithiah Pippen (Brown). None of her daughters were married then, with the possibility of Aunt Kate who married **Kenneth Harrell, the other girls were all at home and the boys were away in the Confederate Army. Lunsford Brown was dead and Bithiah was in charge of the plantation. She locked the girls in an upstairs room and went out on the porch, under the big tall white columns, and met the leader of the troops.

He was a young Yankee officer, nicely mannered, and after dismounting came to the front steps and very respectfully told the lone woman that he regretted the havoc his troops had made of the place, that he had ordered them to break open the remaining casks of brandy and cider and pour them out, as his troops were getting out of hand. This officer told Bithiah that his own home was in Massachusetts and that she reminded him of his own mother whom he had not seen for two years. After offering her protection for herself and daughters Bethiah invited him into her own dining room and had her cook prepare dinner for the Yankee officer and several of his staff. In this way the old mansion was saved, just in time as sacks soaked with kerosene had already been placed under the front porch by the Yankee soldiers. When the troops departed they took every scrap of food with them, and neighbors had to bring the family what food they could find from their own slim stores."

"One of the only memories I have of going to my granny's house was her big hug and her molasses cookies. My grandfather died when I was 4 and Granny moved in with the children. She is the one who told me her tales of her family and the Civil War. I thought it was the Silver War when I was little because she would tell about them hiding the silver in the well!"

While Sherman's 'bummers' were robbing, raping and burning and Sheridan's 'soldiers' were acting in a way that would shame some godless barbarian, John Mosby and his men - wicked, murdering horse thieves, bush whackers and outlaws as they were called in the Northern press - treated the civilians in 'Mosby's Confederacy' with every respect, appropriating from them only that 'tithe' of produce and forage demanded by the Confederate government.

In one instance, Mosby returned one of his young men to the regular army after he upset a Unionist Quaker farmer's milk cans as a 'joke'. Despite the pleas of the soldier's company commander, Mosby said that the man was 'morally unfit' to ride with his command. In another instance, Mosby stopped at the home of a Union woman to apologize for the shooting that had taken place virtually in her front yard in a skirmish the day before. While speaking with the woman, Mosby - a man who craved Northern newspapers - saw that she had a large pile of them. He politely asked if he could borrow one to read; she told him no. The guerrilla Chief thanked her, touched his hat, gave a slight bow - and left.

Does anyone doubt what would have happened had the woman been a Southerner and the Colonel a Yankee?

Val

"Does anyone doubt what would have happened had the woman been a Southerner and the Colonel a Yankee?"

Exactly, and the fact that they didn't burn her place (my great aunt's) was certainly good, but it really shows you what despicable people yankees are, since they still stole all the food, and the officer, instead of simply telling his men not to drink anymore, came up with the brilliant idea to just destroy all of it which wasn't his to do so with anyway.

You might just be the world's most knowledgeable Mosby expert!

The Talk: Nonblack Version

......... if you are white or Asian and have kids, you owe it to them to give them some version of the talk. It will save them a lot of time and trouble spent figuring things out for themselves. It may save their lives.

********

There is much talk about “the talk.”

“Sean O’Reilly was 16 when his mother gave him the talk that most black parents give their teenage sons,” Denisa R. Superville of the Hackensack (NJ) Record tells us. Meanwhile, down in Atlanta: “Her sons were 12 and 8 when Marlyn Tillman realized it was time for her to have the talk,” Gracie Bonds Staples writes in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Leonard Greene talks about the talk in the New York Post. Someone bylined as KJ Dell’Antonia talks about the talk in The New York Times. Darryl Owens talks about the talk in the Orlando Sentinel.

Yes, talk about the talk is all over.

There is a talk that nonblack Americans have with their kids, too. My own kids, now 19 and 16, have had it in bits and pieces as subtopics have arisen. If I were to assemble it into a single talk, it would look something like the following.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Ivo Zdarsky, who escaped Communist Czechoslovakia in an aircraft he built himself in 1984, is the only resident of a Utah ghost town so remote the nearest grocery store is 160 miles away.

The 51-year-old lives alone in an airplane hangar in the abandoned town in Utah surrounded by three runways so he can develop his designs for an experimental aircraft.

Mr Zdarsky, who manufactures plane propellers, has named his place Lucin International Airport although the only plane that lands in the town a 180 miles away from of Salt Lake City is his own.

His home, a large room within a steel hangar, is outfitted with a 90-inch flat screen TV, a drum set, a computer and an inflatable hot tub which is flipped Linkupside down and covered with a sheet to use as a sofa, reports the new York Times.

He also has an impressive arsenal of weapons causally left out in plain view around his home including a 308 sniper rifle, a 223 sniper rifle, a shotgun and a Belgium FS2000.

'I use them on the badgers because they dig in my ground. You cannot imagine the damage these badgers do.' Mr Zdarsky told the Times.
